Visuals can mean the difference between a killer presentation and a lost opportunity.
For salespeople, itâs difficult to close a deal without business presentations to back up your pitches. For marketers and business owners, video presentations help communicate ideas and share results from projects to ensure future success.Â
Customers also love high-quality visuals, like branded explainer videos and product tours. Theyâre the fuel that drives eight in 10 people to make online purchases.Â
But what makes a good presentation? And how can you engage viewers throughout your video? This guide covers what you need to know about creating video presentations, no matter the purpose.
What is a video presentation ?
A video presentation refers to a sequence of visuals combined with audio to convey information, arguments, ideas, or narratives. It can be about a product, service, internal business reports, or even a topic of interest.
Video presentations can range from simple slideshow-style videos with voiceovers to more complex productions involving animations, live-action footage, music, sound effects , and more.
A good video presentation provides information clearly and concisely. But the best video presentations engage your target audience with professional video quality: a good camera and mic, skilled editing, and a confident presenter.Â
There are a ton of different types of video presentation formats you can choose from, including:
- Animated explainer videos
- Employee onboarding videos
- Screen recordings
- Training videos
- Product demos
- Microsoft PowerPoint presentations with a talking head
- Sales presentations
- Awards presentations
Benefits of a video presentationÂ
These are great reasons to put in the effort to produce this type of video content.
Enhanced engagement
Video recordingsâwhether on social media or hosted on your websiteâare great for engagement and getting your audienceâs attention. Wyzowl found that 95% of marketers have said video marketing has helped them increase brand awareness, 90% say it has helped generate leads, and 87% said it has helped them increase sales.
Visual clarity
There's a reason many people suggest something like "If you can learn it, you'll find it on YouTube." The presentation video format is unique in its ability to teach and demonstrate, similar to the in-person experience you'd get with a tutor or salesperson.Â
The same Wyzowl report found that 96% of marketers say videos have helped increase user understanding of products and services. In short: video helps customers retain your information.
Global reach and accessibility
Video presentations are a great way to reach a global audience. More than half of people say theyâre more likely to share a video with others than any other type of content.Â
A video presentation is also better for accessibility than other content types. With video editing software , you can:
- Easily add subtitles and annotations to your video footage for those with hearing loss.
- Add an audio description voiceover for those with sight loss.
- Change the color filters for those with color blindness.
Personal connection
Building a personal connection with your audience is critical for overall brand engagement. A video presentation, especially one with a person in the video, helps you do that. Research shows that students have positive feelings for videos presented by an instructor, for example.
How to create a video presentation
Step 1. plan and prepare.
Proper planning and preparation can help the rest of your presentation creation process run smoothly.Â
Think about what youâll say, and use a storyboard to build out a visual plan of your presentation ideas. Storyboarding your presentation, instead of making it on the fly, will help you stay focused when you fire up your presentation software. (You donât need to be an artist; just set out the scenes in a way that makes sense to you.)
At this point, start writing the video script for your presentation. Youâll know what to say and when to say it, and wonât fill your presentation up with filler words like âumâ and pauses when trying to think about what to say next.Â
Step 2. Gather resources
After youâve completed your paper storyboard and script, itâs time to go digital. With Descript, you can build your slideshows into the video editor just like any slideshow tool .Â
To create a presentation video in Descript:
- Hit New project .
- Import any media (images, infographics, short video clips, GIFs, or sounds) you want to include in your presentation.
- Drop your visuals into the script and edit them into a sequence, or work scene by scene by adding a / at the beginning of each slide.
- Add the background of your presentation, then your script in the left panel.
- Add captions to your presentation by hitting the T icon at the top and choosing Captions.
When you've set up all your slides, you can get fancier and add transitions, extra media, and special effects later.
But maybe youâd prefer to create the presentation using more familiar software, like Prezi, PowerPoint slides, or Google Slides. In that case, you can import the presentation into Descript later or use its screen recording functionality. (If you upgrade your Descript plan, you can create your own video presentation templates to use over and over again, if thatâs your style.)
Step 3. Record your presentation video
With your slides all set up, itâs time to turn them into a video. This step is pretty straightforward if youâve used Descript to make the presentation slides. All youâll need to do is go to the beginning of the presentation and hit the Record button at the top of the screen:
If, like in the image example above, youâve written your script into the scenes, change the default setting Record into script to Record new layer . This preserves your script so you can read from it whil recording your presentation video.Â
Decide if you want to record a voiceover only (leaving the record option as Audio only ), or add a floating head video with your webcam to show yourself as the speaker by clicking the Screen option. Either way, go through your script as the slides move along.Â
If you created your presentation in another software like Google Slides, there may be no built-in option to record your presentation over the slides. In that case, use Descriptâs screen recorder to film your screen with audio. The video file will be ready and waiting for you in the video editor when you finish recording.
Step 4. Edit and enhance
At this point, youâve got the basic presentation down. Itâs time to bring out your inner filmmaker and turn the slideshow into something special.Â
With Descriptâs free video editor, you can:
- Add title screens to introduce your presentation.
- Choose from a library of background music.
- Change the fonts of your captions and any other text layer.
- Add cool slide transitions.
- Improve audio quality with Studio Sound .
Descriptâs video editing is different (and easy) since you can edit the video using the script instead of a traditional timeline editor. This makes the process super efficient since you can quickly identify what needs cutting. Simply delete the part of the script you donât want, and the accompanying video will disappear.
Step 5. Review and fine-tune your video
What makes Descript extra special is the ability to edit your audio by taking out filler words you might have accidentally recorded. Remove âums,â âuhs,â and awkward pauses in a single click with filler word removal .Â
If, like me, you also have a habit of forgetting to say something important, you can use Descript's Overdub feature to add those few missed words without re-recording the whole scene. The software will create an AI clone of your voice to fix audio mistakes.Â
With your video presentation fine-tuned, youâre ready to save and share it with the world. Click the Publish button in the top right corner and download the MP4 file, or export it directly to a platform like YouTube or Wistia.
6 key elements for crafting a great video presentation
Now you know the practical how-tos of making a presentation video, letâs look at some key elements that turn a good video presentation into a great one.Â
Clear and engaging content
Visual appeal, narration and voice quality, engagement techniques, structure and flow.
- Audience-centric approachÂ
No one likes feeling confused. If your presentation isnât clear, youâll end up frustrating your audience. A nice trick for clarity is to imagine youâre explaining your presentation to a child; donât use big words to sound smart. Presentations that are clear from the start are naturally more engaging.
Gone are the days of 360p Nokia footage. Even if you donât have a professional camera setup, you can still record a video on a PC, phone, or webcam with high quality. But donât forget about the images and text overlays. No one wants to try deciphering pixelated visualsâuse the highest quality video resolution you can.
Even the best-quality video presentation can be ruined by bad audio. Poor-quality narration is hugely frustrating to viewers. Prioritize your audio quality, especially for information-rich videos like presentations, and use Studio Sound to remove distracting background noise from your presentation video.
When it comes to video presentations, you should think like a salesperson. You can't expect your audience to believe the information you give them if they don't trust you. Engage your audience by telling a personal story, describing relatable scenes, or emphasizing important points throughout your video.
Treat your presentation like a story with a beginning, middle, and end. Information should flow nicely from one point to the next. Do a test run through your slides before you start recording to ensure any questions don't crop up prematurely because the viewer thinks you haven't covered it (when you do a few slides later).Â

Audience-centric approach
It's pretty much always to the audience's benefit when you make a presentation video, so you shouldn't focus too much on yourself. Address your audience's needs and go above and beyond to answer any questions they may have. Otherwise, why would they listen to you?
5 tips to help you craft remarkable video presentations
Now we know what makes a great presentation video, here are five bonus presentation tips to create yours.Â
1. Practice and rehearse
You wonât always get it right the first time, and thatâs okay. But the more you practice before hitting record, the better your presentation video will beâand the less legwork youâll need to do throughout the video editing process.
2. Invest in good equipment
Top-notch equipment makes your life easier throughout the video creation process. Replace your webcam with your iPhone to improve picture quality, and invest in editing tools that allow you to record and edit in the same dashboard.
3. Optimize lighting
Another area where you can improve the quality of your video is the lighting technique . If you have the budget, you can use a simple ring light, but if you donât have the cash to invest in video equipment, use natural light (such as a window) behind your camera.
4. Engage with eye contact
If someone was talking to you and they werenât looking at you, youâd probably be a little confused or uncomfortable, right? Itâs the same with video. Look into the camera when making video presentations to simulate real eye contact with your audience. If you forget, use Descriptâs Eye Contact AI effect to fix it.
5. Keep it concise
If you waffle on with unnecessary information or get sidetracked on a story, youâll lose your audienceâs attention, and theyâll click away or switch off. Stick to your video script and keep your presentation concise.
Elevate your video presentations with Descript
Creating an informative and engaging video presentation isnât the easiest task in the world. Youâve got to know your audience and what they want, present the information confidently, and do it with visually appealing content.
With Descript, you can take your presentation video to the next level with an editing experience that allows you to:
- Record your screen on a Mac or Windows device
- Create and record slides (with voiceover) in one dashboard
- Remove filler words with a single click
- Use Studio Sound to remove background noise from your presentation
- Turn your presentation into a YouTube video, or download it as an MP4 file

Are you looking for innovative ways to share information with your team, students, or followers? Engage your audience with captivating video presentations they can watch anytime, anywhere.
Did you know that 83% of people prefer watching videos over reading or listening to information? This makes video presentations more impactful than traditional slides. Luckily, creating a video presentation is easy with a little planning and an online video editor like Clipchamp . Read on to learn how to make fun and effective presentation videos.
A video presentation combines videos, images, webcam footage, voiceovers, and animations to deliver a message. Itâs a great alternative to tried-and-tested formats like PowerPoint. Â
Presentation videos are useful to share with groups and remote teams working asynchronously, to enliven online learning and even generate customized marketing and sales presentation pitches. Depending on the content, video presentations can be created to be shared and repurposed or be edited to match the presenterâs needs.Â
Video presentations are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to engage audiences and convey information in a dynamic and visually appealing manner. Here are some key benefits.
Enhanced engagement
Visual and auditory elements in video presentations capture and hold viewers' attention more effectively than static text or images alone.
Interactive features, such as clickable links or embedded quizzes, can further increase engagement.
Versatility
Video presentations suit various purposes, including education, marketing, business pitches, and more.
They can be tailored to different audience needs and preferences, making them a flexible communication tool.
Improved accessibility
Videos can be easily shared and viewed across multiple devices and platforms, making them accessible to a wider audience.
They can be hosted on websites, shared via social media, or distributed through email, ensuring broad reach.
Retention and understanding
Combining visual and auditory information helps improve comprehension and retention of the presented content.
Using storytelling techniques and clear visuals can make complex information easier to understand.
Professionalism
Well-crafted video presentations can enhance your professional image, making your message appear more polished and credible.
High-quality visuals, animations, and voiceovers can elevate the production value.
1. Slideshow presentation videoÂ
Weâre all familiar with making PowerPoint slides. A slideshow presentation video takes this to the next level. Instead of static backgrounds and tiny bullet points, a slideshow presentation video allows you to tell a story. It's a creative way to present information.
Start by arranging stock video backgrounds to create the foundation of your video and place smooth transitions between slides or topics. Share your key messages using animated texts, lower thirds and graphics which make your video memorable. You can stop here, or add a webcam recording or record an audio voiceover . Â Â
Itâs a popular format for school projects, corporate intro videos, and even product launches, and the process can be simplified even further by using an online video presentation maker.
2. Video presentation with audio narration
Another effective video presentation format is when you create a screen recording of a website, process, workflow or PowerPoint presentation and add a voiceover to guide viewers. Itâs comparatively low effort to a slideshow presentation video, but still ensures engagement from viewers. With new tools like lifelike text to speech generators , narrations can be created in global languages in just a few minutes.Â
Effortlessly record your screen online, trim away unnecessary frames and use graphics like arrows and circles to highlight key points. Next, type your ideal video voiceover and let AI create a flawless voiceover that explains your video well.Â
This is a great video solution if youâre trying to whip up a group presentation by collecting information from different team members as it can help you make a consistent and high-quality video. Itâs also super useful if youâre hosting an online learning session, webinar or creating a demo video .  Â
3. Video presentation with talking headÂ
Wait, whatâs a âtalking headâ? It simply refers to when a webcam recording is inserted into a presentation video to make it easy to follow. This may be bad news for the camera-shy presenters out thereâadding your friendly face captures the attention of your audience while building interest and trust in your presentation.
The good news is that such videos are super easy to create. Simply record your webcam footage online and layer it on top of your slideshow presentation video . Finetune the size of your webcam video, overlay the video in a corner or place it side-by-side with your presentation visuals. Donât forget to add captions to make your video stand out even when played on mute, like on social media feeds. Â
Sales, explainer videos, and even video resumes can benefit from the personal touch of a talking head presentation video.Â
4. Animated presentation video
Evoke emotions from your viewers when you create an animated presentation video. While there are whiteboard animation softwares out there, thatâs not the only option in this format. If you think a cartoon character could educate your class, tell your business story or simplify a big idea, consider this video format. If youâre wondering how that would suit your budget (or lack of), explore free cartoon stock videos and turn up your creativity to make them suit your needs.  Â
Remember that choosing the right background music, adding your brand logo and adjusting the aesthetics of your stock video (like adding a filter) can truly help your video look custom-made.Â
Identify your main audience: Choose your key audience, whether itâs potential or existing customers, colleagues, or others. Map their needs, interests, and pain points to help you create valuable content. Â
List your key messages: Identify the main points to convey in the video, and prioritize them based on how relevant they are to your viewers. Make sure they match your videoâs goal and are crafted in a way thatâs useful to your main audience.Â
Consider your videoâs lifetime: Consider where youâll host, post, or share your video, how long it will stay current and relevant, and whether it will need revisions.
Decide your branding needs: Donât miss a good branding opportunity. Think about adding your logo , brand colors or other elements that link your presentation video closer to your brand.Â
Create a script or storyboard: Structure matters! Plan out the content and flow of your video in advance to help achieve its goals. A storyboard is a shot-by-shot outline of what main frames in your video will look like. If your video only needs a voiceover, write a script so your visuals match the audio narration .
Consider audio and video tools: If you aim for a professional look and feel, choose your toolkit wisely. Clipchamp is an easy online tool that can record your screen and webcam , generate voiceovers, and even has royalty-free stock and video elements to confidently edit video presentations.
Nothing says "we've got our act together" like using your companyâs logos, colors, and fonts throughout your presentation videos to reinforce your brand recognition. Adding your branding shows attention to detail and commitment to quality, which makes a good impression on your viewers.
Incorporating strong calls-to-action (CTAs) with logos into presentation videos can encourage viewers to take the next step and boost your conversion rates. According to a study by Lucidpress, consistent branding can increase revenue by up to 23% . That's why Clipchamp makes it easy to customize videos to match your corporate identity using our brand kit feature , ensuring your presentation maintains a professional and cohesive look.
Use branded fonts and colors to make your slideshow videos and presentations easy to identify, no matter where they are shared.
A well-crafted voiceover script is key to delivering a clear and engaging presentation. Here are some tips to help you write an effective script for a presentation.
Keep your script conversational: write your script as if youâre speaking directly to the audience. Use simple language and avoid jargon to make your narration relatable and understandable. If you need help with writing, try these useful AI prompts to write video scripts .
Be concise: assume your viewers have short attention spans and keep your sentences short and to the point. Break down any complex information into bite-sized pieces.
Emphasize key points: repeat or summarize key points to highlight the most important information.
If you're recording your own voice, leverage the simplicity of the voice recorder feature in Clipchamp to produce voiceovers with ease. It's good to practice your delivery to sound more natural and confident during the actual recording.

![how to make videos for presentation An image of a user saving a video in 1080p video resolution.](https://images.ctfassets.net/b4k16c7lw5ut/19OThV6ejOorRVEQ1moh3O/b05d025016b918c9af063860f529cc1a/Video_presentation_-_10.png?w=1726&h=883&q=50&fm=png)
Once your video presentation is complete, it's important to know how to export and share it effectively. Clipchamp offers multiple exporting formats such as MP4 and GIF.
We recommend saving video presentations in 1080p video resolution for high-quality playback wherever you choose to share it, including social media, website, and email. You can also explore different exporting options (like seamless OneDrive integration ) in Clipchamp to find the right balance between quality, convenience, and file size.
Get the most bang for your video presentation buck by repurposing it for different uses. Here are some ideas.
Presentation teaser
Create a short highlight video from your presentation to share with external customers or internal employees. This gives them a sneak peak of what to expect from attending the meeting or watching the video presentation.
Embed into email campaigns
Embed your video presentation into newsletters to provide additional value to your readers. Repurposing content in this way extends its reach and impact.
Video clips for websites
Trim and create video snippets that could support users searching for information on your website. This can also drive traffic back to your full presentation.
Adjust the colors or apply a filter to help your webcam videos look and feel consistent, especially if you are combining webcam footage from more than one speaker.Â
Share additional information to support your visuals, from locations, names of speakers, or key takeaways using animated lower thirds .Â
Highlight important sections in your screen recording using a colored shape like a hand drawn circle to give your presentation a polished look.Â
Choose presentation background music that complements your video goals and doesnât overpower the video narration, if any. Â
Use an intro and outro slide to make a lasting impression. It can be as simple as a logo animation . Â
Add captions to your video to make it accessible and easy to view even when on mute.

Now that weâve answered a few basic questions, letâs dig deeper into why videos are so powerful.
What Makes Video Presentations so Effective?
Why do they increase the impact of your message?
Well, itâs simple, really â people are visual creatures. This means we take in more information by watching than by reading. Remember the saying, âa picture is worth a thousand wordsâ? Besides that, here are 4 other reasons video is so effective:
1. Conveys emotions better
No other communication channel conveys emotions better than video. Thatâs because video caters to the brainâs visual and auditory systems, helping the viewer pick up on cues like body language, facial expressions, imagery, and music.
2. Cements information better
According to research , people remember 10% of what they hear and 20% of what they read. However, they remember a staggering 80% of what they experienced. In short, visuals are easier to remember than text or audio because they help your audience âexperienceâ your message. It makes video an essential part of creating presentations your audience will remember for a long time.
3. Makes it easier to digest information
Especially when explaining complicated concepts, video is a great way to present information in an easy-to-understand way. Not only is the format easy to take in, but it also makes breaking down concepts easier.
4. Builds relationships fast
Iâm sure you know the marketing mantra: people buy from people they know, like, and trust. Nothing beats video in making prospects or your audience know, like, and trust you⊠fast. Video is an instant relationship builder. Itâs the next best thing to live face-to-face communication.
A video is a great tool that has made it easier to communicate thoughts and ideas with people â not just in a room, but even across the globe.

How to create killer Video Presentations â 4 Tips
Now you know why video presentations are important and which scenarios to use them in. Now to the fun part â tips on creating killer video presentations. Letâs get to it, shall we?
Tip #1 - Know your Audience
![how to make videos for presentation how to create a killer video presentations - know your audience](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/Video-Presentations-Audience-min.jpg)
The most important aspect of creating a stellar presentation is to know and understand your audience. Even if you use the best video presentation maker , if you donât target a specific, clearly defined audience, your presentation will flop. Understanding your audience will help you:
A. Communicate effectively
Effective communication involves knowing the language and examples that resonate with your audience.
B. Choose the right visuals
Certain visuals are more impactful when used on a particular audience. Study those that your audience will easily understand and relate to.
C. Connect on an emotional level
No matter the type of presentation, itâs crucial to connect with your audience on an emotional level. And to do that, you need to understand the emotional triggers to push in your video presentation.
Invest in adequate audience research. While it may be time-consuming (and a bit costly), it will pay off in the end.
Idea #2 - Brainstorm video content ideas
![how to make videos for presentation Create Killer Video Presentations - Brainstorm Video Content Ideas](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/Video-Presentations-Brainstorm-min.jpg)
Now that you have gathered enough audience data, itâs time to brainstorm some content ideas. Whether youâre creating your talk solo or as a team, 3 crucial questions will lay the foundation of your brainstorming session:
1. What do you want the video to achieve? 2. Which emotions do you want the video to evoke? 3. What will visual elements help your video achieve its goal?
The answers to these questions will help guide your ideas. They are key to creating a killer video that your audience will love.
Tip #3 - Craft engaging scripts
![how to make videos for presentation Craft Engaging Scripts](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/Video-Presentations-Writing-min.jpg)
Audience research? Check.
Great idea? Check.
Now we get to another interesting stage of creating great video presentations â crafting an engaging script. Whether itâs a live presentation, a webinar, or even a product review, youâll need a great script to ensure you keep your audience engaged.
Even if you love creating impromptu videos, having a script for your video presentations is important. And no, you need not be Quentin Tarantino to produce a great video script (although it wonât hurt to learn how to become a good copywriter). Here are 3 reasons a good video script is a must:
1) Helps structure your video
To ensure your video has a smooth and progressive flow, youâll need a good script.
2) Eliminates âdead spotsâ
Dead spots, or moments of inactivity, are a great turn-off in a video. They reek of unprofessionalism and can lead to your audience disengaging. The best way to eliminate dead spots is to craft a solid video script .
3) Keeps you on track
Itâs very easy to get sidetracked when creating a video . However, with a script, you minimize the instances of going off-topic.
Creating scripts for your videos is a best practice that shouldnât be overlooked. If anything, invest more in your script than the visuals as a good script can save a video with poor visuals.
Pro-tip: Once youâre confident about your script, it is time to make things even more clear. A storyboard will allow you to break down your video visually, scene by scene, describing what is happening in it.
Tip #4 - Invest in the Right Tools
![how to make videos for presentation video presentations right tools - InVideo](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/video-presentations-right-tools.png)
With video, one thing you should never skimp on is the tools you use, particularly your video editing software. While there is a gazillion free video editing software on the market, itâs highly recommended that you use a professional video editor . And that means going the paid route.
Why should you spend on a video editor when there are countless free options available? Hereâs why:
A. Get more (professional) features
Creating professional-looking videos requires a lot of resources and features. Most free video editors lack the features that will enable you to create professional videos.
B. Avoid branding and ads
With video editing software, free is never free. Thatâs because you pay through being forced to include the video editors brand in your work. In other words, you pay by advertising for them. Besides branding, some free video editors may subject you to irritating in-app ads.
If thereâs one thing thatâs inevitable when it comes to software, itâs that one time or another youâll encounter glitches. This is where paid video editors have a great advantage over their free counterparts â youâll have access to customer support.
From hardware (like cameras) to software (like video editing software), the tools you use will determine the quality of your videos. Invest in professional tools, and your presentations will sweep your audience off their feet because theyâll be more polished.
Pro tip: If you don't have the time or bandwidth to find your way around an editing tool, simply sign up to InVideo for business and get presentations created using tailor-made templates and on-demand editing services. Sign up for a free demo here .
Tip #5 - Adopt Video Presentation Best Practices
Thereâs no need to reinvent the wheel when creating presentations . Most winning video presentations are based on common fundamental principles that work. Here are some you need to know:
1) Create impactful intros (and outros)
Your intro is the most important part of your presentation as it sets the tone for the rest of the talk. If you canât engage your audience with your intro, you probably wonât get another chance to engage them.
2) Keep it short, sharp, and sweet
No matter how engaging your video is, always remember itâs not a movie. The point is to keep your audience engaged enough to pass on your information, no more no less.
3) Be professional
Donât throw out your professional etiquette just because youâre on (or using) video. Maintain professionalism in your video presentations by, for example, using clean language and maintaining a good posture.
4) Use quality sound
Sound plays an integral part in presentations. Whether itâs music or speech, make sure itâs crisp, clear, and audible.
By following these (and other) video presentation best practices, success is inevitable. Remember, the presentation is not about you; itâs about your audience. So, ensure that your presentations provide a good user experience for your audience.

Looking for a great Video Presentation Template? Hereâs what you should consider
![how to make videos for presentation video presentation templates in InVideo](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/video-templates.png)
Templates are lifesavers. They help you create a decent presentation in a snap, even if you are a newbie.
Here are 3 simple questions to help you determine if a template is good:
1) Is it editable? â Are you able to change things like playback speed, effects, or text, so you produce something you like? Stay away from rigid templates that donât give you the freedom to create with ease.
2) Is it customizable? â Can you design brand-specific clips using your companyâs colors, fonts, and styling? Good templates give you wiggle room to include your brandâs specific needs.
3) Is it campaign-specific? â Different videos fit different scenarios. Ideally, you want templates tailored to your current campaign. That way, you have less tweaking to do because the templates are close to what you want.

5 Awesome Video Presentation ideas to bring The House Down
Presentation is both an art and science. Get the balance right, and you have the audience eating out of the palm of your hand. Here are some ideas to help you do just that.
Idea #1 - Tickle them with humor
Humor is a powerful learning tool.
According to studies by Physiology Org humor leads to learning because of it:
- Attracts and sustains attention. - Relieves tension and produces a relaxed atmosphere. - Enhances participation. - Increases retention and motivation. - Bonds the student and the teacher.
However, to reap all these benefits, the humor must be appropriate and on-topic. So spice up your presentation with a joke or two. The result? Your audience will laugh and learn.
Idea #2 - Use Relevant Examples
Effective presenters use timely, powerful illustrations.
The word illustration comes from the Latin term âillustration,â which means illumination. So practical examples are like windows of your presentation. They let light in. They help people see or understand the material better.
Here are 5 questions to ask about your illustrations:
1. Are they relevant to the topic? 2. Are they suited to the audience? 3. Are they suited to the time limit? 4. Are they enlightening? 5. Are they well told?
Grab compelling examples from books, movies, TV shows, history, children, current events, and captivating real-life incidents. Use good illustrations ram your points home.
Idea #3 - Wield Questions like a Ninja
Questions are an integral part of learning.
Sharp questions aid learning. Plus, they keep listeners highly engaged.
Ask questions:
- At the beginning of your presentation to draw your audience in. - In the middle of the presentation to revive waning audience interest. - At the end of the talk, so the audience reflects on the material.
Also, allow the audience to ask questions. When your audience asks questions, they switch from passive spectators to active participants.
Idea #4 - Be Minimal
Have you ever sat through a presentation and felt:
- Dazed? - Confused? - Strained?
More than likely, the reason is the presenter drowned you in a blaze of inessential stuff. There was too much going on you couldnât cope with.
Minimalism is removing all unnecessary material, leaving only the bare minimum needed to put your points across. It means using just enough text, visuals, scenes, or slides to make the point and no more. A minimal presentation is clean and uncluttered.
Simple yet intriguing. Plain but profound. Basic but punchy.
Most importantly, it makes learning easy and enjoyable.
Idea #5 - Connect emotionally with a story
Stories are speakersâ most powerful weapons. Thatâs because stories play a dual purpose â
- Engage intellectually - Connect Emotionally
And an emotional connection is key to bringing the house down with your presentation. Why?
An emotional connection:
- Endears you to your audience - Makes your presentation memorable - Inspires your audience to take action
By using a relevant story in your video presentation, youâll ensure that your audience walks the entire journey with you from intro to outro.
6 PowerPoint Presentation tips to wow your audience
![how to make videos for presentation powerpoint presentation tips](https://assets-static.invideo.io/uploads/2020/03/powerpoint.png)
No business video guide is complete without PowerPoint, the staple software for business presentations.
Here are 6 golden rules to help you nail your next PowerPoint presentation and leave your audience crying for more:
1. Keep Things Simple
Legendary artist Leonardo da Vinci once said something profound:
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".
With the plethora of apps and templates at your disposal, you will be tempted to complicate things. Donât. Keep things simple.
Simple design. Simple colors. Simple story.
People get swamped and confused by complicated stuff but easily absorb and appreciate straightforward material.
2. Good visual contrast
What use is your blockbuster presentation if the audience canât see it?
You want people to enjoy your presentation, not endure it. If you use dark fonts on dark backgrounds or light fonts on light backgrounds, youâll strain your audienceâs eyes. Theyâll struggle to see your lovely slides.
Classic black-on-white color contrast does just fine. You can use colors like red, blue, or yellow for headings and images. If you donât like black and white, you can use other colors you prefer as long as the contrast of your combination is bold and strong.
3. Use a few words and animations
Itâs easy to go overboard with fancy animations and a gushing stream of words. Only use as many words as it takes to get your point across and no more.
Too many words cause the audience to read rather than listen. Remember, your slides are there to compliment your talk, not substitute it. Also, a lot of words will fill up many slides that wear your audience down.
Ruthlessly cut out senseless animations that donât add value to your talk.
4. Use excellent images
Images are to a presentation, what water is to fish. Without them, your presentation becomes bland. It lacks the needed fizz to keep your audience hooked. But only include relevant images.
Not only that. Above all, make sure all pictures are of high quality. Amateur-looking clip art causes the audience not to take you seriously.
Pro-tip: Get access to millions of stock assets and tailor-made templates with InVideo for business . Sign up for a free demo here .
5. Smooth and fast transitions
While PowerPoint transitions can make your presentation engaging, donât overdo them, especially the advanced ones. Not only do they quickly drain power on weaker machines, but they also distract the audience. Stick to simpler and faster transitions like wipe or slide.
6. Avoid overloading your slides
In presentations, less is more.
Having a lot going on your screen confuses and overwhelms listeners.
Cramming too much info into your slides is a big no-no. Clutter is your enemy. Strip your slides down to essential words and images. Your audience will love you for it and leave you with many takeaways.
Pro looking Video Presentations â No longer an option
With Industry 4.0 fast coming into its own, going digital is no longer an option for businesses and speakers.
And one of the most important communication mediums in the digital age is video. Thatâs why you canât afford to ignore video any more. Whether youâre speaking before a live audience or seeking to disseminate information to a global audience, video presentations are the way to go.

We shall look into each option in depth in the upcoming steps.
Ways to create an animated presentation in Animaker Deck:
There are two ways to create an animated presentation in Animaker Deck
Customizing the Background
Introducing characters, using properties, adding text .
   2. Creating an animated presentation from templates
Selecting a template
- Editing the text
Customizing the Character
Editing the background images.
Let's get started right away!
One way of creating an animated presentation in Animaker Deck is from scratch on a blank canvas. Hereâs what we will cover:
Using the Backgrounds feature, you can easily search and apply backgrounds according to your preferences.Â
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/BG-scaled.jpg)
The best part is that you can customize the background colors to match your slide style.
For instance, letâs say you want to create an intro slide for your business. First, choose a suitable background for your slide from the Library.
Once you find and select a suitable background, it will appear in the central workspace. Also, you will notice a few options pop up in the workspace. It is called an âitem menu.âÂ
You can customize the colors, add filters, swap elements, and resize and delete the elements in the slide from these options.
Do all the presentations you have made so far lack personality?Â
You can now infuse life into the slides with the help of Animated Characters.
With Animaker Deck, you can create your personalized characters or use the built-in characters from the Library section, whichever fits your scenario.
In this instance, letâs choose one from the built-in character library.
![how to make videos for presentation Animaker Deck Characters](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/character-scaled.jpg)
The selected character will appear in the slide, along with the item menu. Use the options in the item menu to customize the character per your preferences.
Also, you can find the Actions and Expressions section on the right side of the workspace. Apply a suitable action and expression to your character from the available options.Â
If you are not happy with the pre-built characters, you can even create and introduce your own custom characters into the slide deck.
![how to make videos for presentation Character section](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/customize-charac-scaled.jpg)
Use the Create Your Avatar button under the Characters feature to create your own custom character.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Screenshot-2022-11-11-at-10.10.25-PM-scaled.jpg)
Animaker Deck offers you options to create a character between Young Adults and Children.
Pick the one as per your preference. Once you select the type, you will be taken to the character customization screen.Â
Here you can customize each and every aspect of your character, starting from head to toe.
This is the cherry on top of the Animaker Deck app. This way, you can introduce yourself as a character in your presentation as well.Â
Once you have finished the customizations, save your character and refresh the project. You can find the newly created character in the My Characters tab under the Character feature.
Animaker Deck is loaded with tons of Properties. Icons, Graphs, Charts, Numbers, Illustrations, or anything you name, are covered under the properties section.Â
Now, letâs add a speech bubble to the character. You can do this by searching for a speech bubble under the properties section in the library.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/speech-bubble-scaled.jpg)
Once you select the speech bubble, it will appear in the workspace. Use the item menu options to customize the size and color.Â
You can also add animation effects to the speech bubble from the options available on the right side of the workspace.
Introducing entry and exit animations to the properties in the slide adds extra appeal to the presentation overall.
Using the Text feature, you can add text to your slides in two ways.Â
One is to choose and edit from the built-in text templates designed along with animation effects, and the second is to enter the text manually with text boxes.
Select a suitable text design from the Text feature under the library section.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/add-text-scaled.jpg)
Once you select the text design, it will appear in the workspace; now, you can type in the required text and use the item menu options to customize the color, font style, size, and alignment and adjust the case sensitivity of the text.Â
In this instance, we have used the empty text box design and entered the text manually. You can also use the built-in text design templates and edit them accordingly.Â
Also, it is possible to add animation effects to the text just like we did to the properties earlier.Â
You can even adjust the transparency of the text by using the transparency slider beneath the animation effects on the right side of the workspace.
This way, Animaker Deck gives a complete customization option for the users to edit and change the slides according to everyoneâs preferences.
Another way of creating an animated presentation is from pre-built templates.Â
Hereâs what we will cover:
Animaker Deck offers more than 50 professionally designed templates to choose from.Â
Use these templates to inject fresh ideas into your static slides!
The templates feature is on the left side under the library section.
Go carefully through the different templates and select a suitable one for your use case. Then click Add all.Â
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/template-scaled.jpg)
A pop-up window will appear, asking you to overwrite; click confirm to insert the template.
Once you have clicked the confirm button, all the slides will be inserted into the project.
Now the best part about creating an animated presentation from templates in Animaker Deck is that every aspect of the template is completely customizable. The three main aspects of the template that you can customize as per your preferences areÂ
- Background Images
Editing the Text
Select the Text that you want to edit. Then click on the Settings option from the item menu. You can find different options to customize the text on the right side.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/template-text-scaled.jpg)
For instance, you can choose a different font, change the fontâs color, and adjust the line spacing. You can also make the text a Hyperlink by toggling the Hyperlink button.
Use all these options to edit the text according to your preference.Â
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/customize-charac-1-scaled.jpg)
Select the Character and use the item menu to customize it. You can alter the color of the character and its attire as per your preference.
You can also introduce actions and expressions to the character and bring life to your presentation. Simply select an action under the action tab, and it will reflect in character immediately. Itâs that easy to animate your characters.Â
Also you can even introduce your own custom characters into the slide deck.Â
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/own-charac-scaled.jpg)
Animaker Deck, in partnership with GIPHY, PEXELS & PIXABAY, provides access to thousands of quirky gifs and iconic images which can be used in your slides with a single click.
You have the flexibility to even customize the existing background image in the template as per your preference.
Select the Background image and use the Item Menu options to edit the elements present in the background image.
For instance, you can alter the color of the elements, resize them, group them together or delete them.Â
Also, you can introduce animation effects to the background image to lit up the presentation.
However, if you are still unhappy with the customizations, Animaker Deck has covered you with the Upload option.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/uplaod-temp-scaled.jpg)
Animaker Deck offers up to 25 GB of storage space for you to upload your custom files onto the slide decks.
Thatâs some steal, right?
You can upload your own custom images and images into the slide decks by using the Upload feature in the library section.
Click on the Upload button to browse files from your local disc and upload them directly to your project.Â
Another simpler way of customizing your background is by playing around with the colors.
You can use solid colors as a background, or even better, you can use gradient colors matching your presentation style.
You can add up to five colors and create a gradient-style background on your own!
This way, you get complete control over the selected template and customize it as per your needs.Â
Once youâve finished customizing the template, click on the present button to preview the entire presentation.Â
Once you have added the character, text, and properties and selected the suitable background, itâs time to preview how everything looks together when presented.
To do this, head to the Present option in the top menu. Clicking on the Present button will allow you to preview the slide in fullscreen.Â
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Screenshot-2022-11-22-at-10.19.20-PM-scaled.jpg)
This way, you can check and alter the slide's contents accordingly. Itâs that simple to create an animated presentation from scratch in Animaker Deck.
Similarly, you can add more slides and customize them according to your use cases.
If you are working in a team, the next step is to get your presentation reviewed by your tea members. A collaborative review process can help elevate your presentationâs quality.
Use the Share button in the top right to share the presentation with your team. All you need to do is enter your colleagues' email addresses and choose between copy and edit links.
![how to make videos for presentation](https://www.animaker.com/hub/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/share-scaled.jpg)
Animaker Deck makes it easy for you to collaborate with your entire team and edit your slide decks together in real-time.
Also, thereâs an option to preview the created slide decks with the help of the Present button in the top right corner.Â
Use this present button to review all the changes, animations, and other transition effects made (if any) throughout the slide.
And thatâs a wrap!đÂ
You have now successfully learned how to create kick-ass animated presentations in a jiffy.Â
With the advent of influential online presentation makers like Animaker Deck, creating professional-looking animated presentations has become easier and more affordable than ever before.Â

If youâre not able to be there in person, the next best thing is to present virtually in a video presentation . Over the years more and more people have started to work remotely and communicate virtually, and video presentations have become one of the main ways of presenting. Prezi Video is the online video presentation tool that puts you and your content side-by-side on-screen, helping you stand out and grab your audienceâs attention without losing the human connection. Read on to learn how to make a video presentation with Prezi Video.
Steps for how to make a video presentation
1. prepare ahead of time.
You need to prepare for your video presentation before you can nail it. Start with the basics. How to make a video presentation really boils down to a few simple questions:Â
- Whatâs the goal of your video presentation?
- Why do you need this video presentation?
- Who is your audience?
- What information do you need to include in your video presentation?
- What format or features would best serve your presentation?
- How do you want to brand your video presentation?
Try creating a mind map to outline your thoughts around a single idea. Then, compose your main message by using storytelling principles to keep your message focused and interesting for your audience. Get more advice about preparing for a video presentation with the how to present on video series from Jessica Chen , the founder of Soulcast Media, and read our guide to learn more about what you can do to prepare for a video presentation
2. Turn an existing presentation into a video
You can easily create a video from a presentation with Prezi Video. Use an existing Prezi presentation, or create a new presentation in the Prezi Present editor and press âcreate videoâ when youâre ready to record. You can also turn your PowerPoint presentation into a video by uploading your slides and editing them in the Prezi Video editor.
3. Set up a home studio
How to make a video presentation doesnât require the most expensive equipment, but there are a few steps you can take to look and sound your best on camera. Position your camera at eye level so that it feels like youâre making eye contact with your audience. Clean up and declutter the space around you thatâll appear on camera. If you think the space behind you is too messy, try using a virtual background with Prezi Video . Good lighting and background will make you look more energetic and professional, so situate yourself in front of a light (a window that lets in natural light is best). Find more tips about lighting, backgrounds, and audio quality in our article about home studio setups .
4. Use presenter notes
Itâs helpful to have notes next to you while youâre presenting for reminders and cues. Take advantage of presenter notes in Prezi Video â add notes to your presentation before recording to highlight key information and talking points. These are super useful for practicing before you record, and youâll be the only person who sees them when youâre presenting. Keep in mind that you shouldnât be looking at your notes every second during your video presentation. Instead, presenter notes should only serve as a hint. Look at your camera as often as you can to make your audience feel seen and involved.Â
Now comes the fun part â recording your presentation! This is easy to do in Prezi Video. After youâre done adding and editing your content, press ânext stepâ and then press the red button at the bottom of the screen. You can always pause the recording to collect your thoughts and trim the video once youâre done. Donât like what you see? No problem â you can discard the draft and record again.
6. Share your video presentation
Once youâve wrapped up recording, itâs time to save your video and share it. You have plenty of options here: share a link, embed your video , or download the video file and share it on social. Learn more about sharing and live streaming with Prezi Video in our article about sharing your video .
Tips for making video presentations
Now that weâve covered the step-by-step instructions for how to make a video presentation with Prezi, letâs dig into a few of our tried-and-true tips for making it better. Here are the video presentation tips that everyone can start utilizing in their presentations today.
Keep your video short and to the point
Understand the goal of your video presentation and what you want to cover beforehand. Your audienceâs time and attention are limited, so, you donât want to make a long video that tries to cover everything. Keep your video concise and focus on one or two things to captivate your audience.
Use interactive elements
One way to engage your audience is to implement interactive elements, such as GIFs, polls, Q&A, music, and quizzes, into your video presentation. These elements will make your video presentation more interesting and let you interact with your audience.

Summarize your point at the end
After watching a 10-minute video presentation, your audience might have forgotten what you covered in the beginning. Adding a summary in the end reinforces the main points that people should take away. Based on the recency effect , a strong ending creates a strong impression in your audienceâs mind.
Preview and practice before recording
Going through your presentation and practicing several times beforehand can help you talk smoothly and more confidently during the actual presentation. Also, preview your presentation so that you can spot potential issues and pinpoint areas that you can improve.
With remote work and online learning being so prevalent these days, itâs a great time to start honing your online presentation skills and learn how to make video presentations that have a big impact. Start today by creating your first video presentation with Prezi Video .

Whether youâre a teacher, student, business professional, or even a YouTube content creatorâfor many of us, delivering presentations quickly becomes a standard part of everyday life.
But what happens if you canât be there to deliver your presentation in person, need a key point to land perfectly, or you need your audience to watch it asynchronously in their own time? Have no fear, video presentations can be a great solution to all these challenges.
In this guide, weâll cover everything there is to know about creating your own high quality video presentations, so your audience can benefit from your content whenever they need it.

- What is a video presentation
What makes a good presentation video?
What tools do you need to make a video presentation, how to make a video presentation.
- Making a video presentation in PowerPoint
- Making a video presentation in Keynote
Starting from the top: What is a video presentation?
A video presentation is a method of communication through which information is delivered partially or entirely through video. In other words, itâs the process of using video to deliver a message or presentation.
Common formats for video presentations might include pre-recorded slide presentations, instructional videos, sales material, inspirational talks, entertainment, or anything you can think of.
While the reaction to a video presentation will be subjective, there are a few general qualities that can be beneficial to keep in mind:
- Make your video valuable âhave a clear intended outcome for the viewer and be sure to reach it
- Make sure your audio and video are clear âyou want your audience to focus on your message, not your video quality
- Bring your key points to life âuse stories, questions, and examples to illustrate key concepts and engage viewers
- Establish expectations âuse your introduction to set clear expectations, either with an agenda or teasing where the session is heading
- Donât rely on slides âif the slides added all the value, you could just send your audience a PDF. Ask yourself: what are you adding to the content by presenting it?
- Keep an eye on time âdonât make your video presentation longer than it needs to be.
- Mix it up âbreak the monotony and change pace at appropriate intervals
- Donât start over for the sake of perfection âif you make a mistake during recording, you can always edit it out later
Before you can start creating your own video presentations, youâll first need a few basic tools.
Hardware for a video presentation
Letâs start with the basics, your tech. In most cases, youâll have everything you need if you have a standard laptop or desktop computer.
Hereâs what youâll need to start making video presentations:
- A laptop or PC âyouâll need something to make the presentation recording on
- A microphone âto record your voice-over, either built-in or USB
- A camera âif you want to include video of yourself, either as a built-in webcam or a USB camera
Video recording software
With your tech set up, youâll need software to record your presentation. Depending on your needs, this might be something to record your screen, record your voice, or record yourself with your camera.
With Dropbox Capture , you can do all three at the same time .
Dropbox Capture is video and screen recording technology, designed to make it easy to quickly capture whatever you need. All without needing advanced editing skills or specialist equipment.
With Capture, itâs easy to:
- Record your screen, webcam, and microphone simultaneously
- Create GIFs
- Draw on or annotate recordings
- Automatically generate closed captions
- Share in just a few clicks
While presentation applications like PowerPoint and Keynote have some built-in screen and presentation recording capabilities, they only allow you to record the presentation.
Whereas with Dropbox Capture, youâre free to jump between windows and applications throughout your presentation recordingâgiving you greater freedom on what you present.Â
File storage and sharing tools
Ultimately, youâre going to want to make your video presentation available for viewers somewhere.
With Dropbox cloud storage , this is as easy as copying a link , with full control over access and permissions for your files.
Weâll now cover all the steps to create an impactful video presentation, starting from the very beginningâyour plan.
1. Plan your topic, examples, and intended audience
You likely already have an idea of what youâll want to cover in your video presentation, but it can help to formally get this down on paper:
- Presentation aim âwhat do you want your audience to understand by the end of the video?
- Approach âbroadly, what will you cover to help them understand this concept?
- Resources âwhat examples will you be able to share to illustrate the key concepts?
To help with the planning process, Dropbox Paper has a number of pre-built templates to get your creative juices flowing, like the brainstorming template .
2. Create your presentation slides and your video presentation storyboard
If you havenât already done so, itâs time to create your slides.
While doing this, you should also think about the overall storyboard of your video presentationâwhat are the key beats, how will you present them, and what slides do you need?
A storyboard is a visual tool, used by video producers to map out the narrative flow of a video and the visuals that will accompany it. In many cases, your presentation will almost act as a storyboard, but it might help to get this down on paper first.
You can learn more about the storyboarding process in our in-depth guide to storyboards .
3. Record your video presentation
With your storyboard and presentation ready, itâs time to go about creating your recording.
You can record your screen first, then later record a voice-over or video narration and edit the two together. Or with Dropbox Capture , you can record your screen, webcam, and microphone simultaneously. Using Dropbox Capture makes it easy to create your pre-recorded video lesson in one take. Perfect, if you donât have access to advanced video editing software.
To record with Dropbox Capture , itâs a simple as the following steps:
- Open Dropbox Capture
- Click Screen recording & camera
- Choose which part of your screen youâd like to capture
- Click the Record icon to start recording, click it again to stop recording
- Click the Pause icon in the side panel while recording to pause or resume recording
- Click the Draw icon in the side panel while recording to draw on your recording
4. Edit your video presentation
If youâre already happy with your recording, there is no further editing required.
In any other cases, you can use video editing software to apply finishing touches to your video as you see fit. These edits might include:
- Editing your screen recording and voice-over together (if you have separate files)âwith Dropbox Capture you can record your microphone and camera simultaneously, without the need to use editing software
- Cut and delete unwanted sections of videoâlike an awkward pause or a dog barking, with Dropbox Capture you can do this directly within the app, no editing software required!
- Remove awkward filler wordsâclean up those pesky âumsâ and âahsâ, with Dropbox Capture you can do this automatically, directly in the app
- Adding text overlays to emphasize key points of video sections
- Additional flair and visual elements
- Adding background music to create an atmosphere
5. Share your video presentation
With your video presentation finished, youâll need a way for your viewers to access it.
If you're using Dropbox Capture, sharing your presentation couldnât be easier, simply click the Share button and the sharing link will automatically copy to your clipboard.
If youâre not using Capture, Dropbox cloud storage makes it easy to share your video files with anyone and see whoâs viewed your video presentation. All you need to do is copy a link to the file.
If you want to send a copy of the full video, complete with its cumbersome file size, Dropbox Transfer makes it easy to send large files securely.Â

How to record a video presentation in PowerPoint
Itâs worth keeping in mind that, when recording directly within PowerPoint, you can only record your slides and your editing options will be limited. The best way to give yourself complete control over what you recordâand how you edit it afterwardsâis with a purpose-built screen recording app like Dropbox Capture .
If youâd still prefer to record directly in PowerPoint, you can do this by following these steps:
- Open PowerPoint and open your presentation file
- Navigate to the slide youâd like to start recording from
- Select Record in the top-right corner of the PowerPoint window
- Click the red Record button, wait for the countdown, then start your presentation
With your presentation recorded, you can then save it to your Dropbox cloud storage , making it easy to share your video files with anyone and see whoâs viewed your video presentation.
How to record a video presentation in Keynote
If youâre a Mac user and would prefer to record directly in Keynote, hereâs how to do it:
- Open Keynote and open your presentation file
- Select Record Slideshow from the Play menu at the top of the screen
With your Keynote presentation recorded, you can then save it to your Dropbox cloud storage and share it simply by copying the link.
Again, your control over what you record and how the final edit turns out will be limited when recording directly within the Keynote app. To give yourself complete control over how your video presentation turns out, a purpose-built screen recording app like Dropbox Capture will be more suitable.
Elevate your video presentations with Dropbox Capture
Itâs never been so simple to create an engaging and memorable video presentation, with Dropbox.
With Dropbox Capture , itâs never been easier to get your message across with video recordings of your presentations. So you can clearly say what you mean and nail the delivery, every single time.

4 must-have tips for making video presentations
Creating a video presentation is easy with Biteable. And it’s even easier if you follow these best practices.
Have a goal in mind
Every great video presentation starts with a goal. What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe you want to share a new idea with your colleagues. Maybe you want to report on important company metrics. Or maybe you want to do something else entirely.
It’s incredibly difficult to make a video presentation that moves the needle until you define exactly what your presentation aims to achieve. Figure that part out and the rest becomes much easier.
Choose a proven template
Now that you know what your presentation aims to achieve you can pick a template that fits. You can create your video presentation from scratch, but using a template as a starting point gives you guide rails for tempo and pacing, plus a proven structure designed by pros.
Biteable video presentation maker has plenty of template options geared toward a professional setting, plus hundreds of extra video scenes and animations to build out your video presentation as much or as little as you like.
Use animations that underscore your message
One of the biggest advantages of video presentations over something static like a PowerPoint is the presence of motion. Without even realizing it, your audience will remember the information better simply because video is a multimedia experience that combines movement, sound, and visuals. To make the most impact, choose your animations wisely and use movement in a way that underscores your key points.
Are you presenting on the massive growth your marketing team achieved? Use a graph showing upward movement to drive the point home. Do you have one key point you’re trying to make? Use animation to circle your text or arrows that point at your most important information.
(All of this is easy to do with the video scenes available in Biteable.)
Keep it short and sweet
The length of your video presentation matters. Too short and you won’t be able to convey enough information. Too long and your audience will tune out.
There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to video presentation length. But in general, 1-2 minutes is the sweet spot for making a video presentation that holds attention while still getting all the important information across.
You’d be surprised how many details you can share in this amount of time. A 15-minute live presentation can easily be condensed into one or two minutes if you hone your message to focus on the key details.
Brand your video
This is probably one of the most important — and most overlooked — parts of creating a successful video presentation. You’d never create a PowerPoint with erratic, off-brand colors. Making a video presentation is no different.
It’s a subtle change, but it gives off a big signal that you are polished and professional, and that you and your video presentation mean business.
Take advantage of the unique branding feature in the Biteable video presentation maker to easily apply your colors and logo to your entire presentation.

What is much better? A teacher standing in front of you dictating the lesson or the teacher working on a board, showing live examples through graphs and images, and narrating each statement.
Definitely, the second one works more preferably as you are going to observe the actions and understand the concept easily.
This exact strategy works for video presentations i.e., connecting the audience toward the visuals.
The viewers understand 95% of the message through videos compared to 10% when they read them on text. This is the effect of videos. The entire market industry uses video for presentations and promotions of their business and brands.
But how to make an effective video presentation?
Here, we are going to discuss the 5 most effective tips to create a video presentation unique and successful. Besides this, we are also going to learn the basic points to implement the tips.
Before moving to the tips to make a creative video presentation, clarify three basic points to yourself:
- Whom are you presenting to?
- What are you saying?
- How are you delivering?
Three characteristics of video presentations:
- Informative
Informative presentational videos generally present knowledge and instructions that are valuable for research and awareness. They are mostly in slides and text format.
For instance, an architect wants to build a mall. So for that, he will collect and present a call-to-action video that has complete information about the land, area, estimated materials, and budget for construction in front of investors.
Such data are formed while planning the outlines of the project.
- Demonstrative
Demonstrative presentations are the type of videos that easily impacts viewers mind and makes them understand how the product works. Here, you can practically show the implementations of the steps to operate the product through demos or trials.
For instance, if the company launches a new application or a tool like YouTube automation tool, a small demo is made to understand its features and how the application works.
As a result, it becomes easy for the viewers to install the app and work on it.
Persuasive presentations are a call to action to the audience. They are clear and convincing videos that connect directly to the viewers both emotionally and thoughtfully.
For instance, you might have seen McDonaldâs advertisement boards outside its shop. The fall of french fries and the finger-licking burger leaves you mouthwatering. On top of it, exclusive deals on combos make you stop by the shop.
As a result, persuasive presentations directly target the right viewers and convert them towards the right product.
These are the three main characteristics of a video presentation. It helps to create a remarkable note in the viewer's mind.
You can create a video presentation in two ways:
Either present yourself in front of a screen or explain through graphics and animations. The other way is to shoot the video to give a live example of what you want to say.
All kinds of videos are appreciated in presentation as per the requirements.
Now let us move towards the tips to make presentation videos the most winning and effective in the crowd.
1. Use Audio Narration
Even if you are not representing yourself on a video presentation, use your voice to explain your point. Explaining through an engaging voice can deliver the message more quickly to viewers.
It may sound obvious, but the simple and vital factor of video presentation is its audio quality. If you want to sound precise in your words, be flexible with the tone and pace of your speech. In this way, the power of your presentation will strongly affect your viewers.
- Use quality equipment to record the audio.
![how to make videos for presentation Use quality equipment to record the audio of presentation video](https://www.vmaker.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/pexels-thunder-bulll-6397560.jpg)
- Avoid background noise.
While recording the speech for presentation, make sure to choose a quiet place. You may regret it if the presentationâs voice reveals cracking and crashing sounds in front of an audience.
In this way, when you finish the recording, donât forget to check how it sounds. Also, make sure to deliver your words with confidence.
2. Be a good storyteller
You must understand, you are just delivering your ideas to grab the attention of the audience and convert them towards what you offer. So here, banging the concept wonât work.
Stories are the bridge to build the gap of emotions between the speaker and the viewer. It connects the audience directly to your point. Simply use a human narrating story that the audience can easily relate to on a personal level.
![how to make videos for presentation video presentation maker](https://www.vmaker.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/video-presentation-maker.jpg)
- Use some standout examples.
For instance, you are creating a presentation of the WordPress development course. You can show the struggling story that every beginner suffers through. This will help you to connect with the specific audience who faces the same difficulty and make them convert to your course.
You can also use regular phrases and idioms to give a completely different model to your presentation.
3. Use light and appropriate Music
What if the slides are playing and audios are narrating the video clips in a drop-down silence? Definitely, the viewers may feel like listening to a lecture and get bored.
To avoid boredom, music can be used.
Music is said to be the therapy to relax the mind and make it think peacefully. It highly impacts the audienceâs mind and makes them stick to you. So why not use it in a presentation to grab the attention of the audience.
- Use the right music at the right time
There are generally two types of music you can use in the presentation. One is up-tempo music to grab the attention of the audience instantly at the right time. Another is slow music to relax the brain and give the time to review the content peacefully.
In this way, the message you want to deliver through content will get a subordinate to sink it more easily into the long-term memory of the viewers.
4. Be precise and Keep it Short
When you create a presentation, it will be the pitch to the audience to hook them towards your content.
In fact, any video as a presentation if it exceeds more than 3 minutes can suffer a huge drawback towards viewers' experience.
As for an ideal presentation video, thirty to sixty seconds is more than enough. You might have seen the Americans' Got Talent. No matter how well the artist performs, sometimes judges instantly reject them if they are not able to impress them in the first 30 seconds.
So just be short and precise with your words.
- Use bold opening statements
Bold opening statements grab the vision of the audience. Your powerful statements can easily create a sound impact on viewers if it is presented in a proper format.
- Use proper graphics and animations
High-quality graphics and animations provide extra value to the presentation. The viewers get a straight insight of the point you are trying to show through it.
5. Deliver a Meaningful Note in your final words
Even an interesting movie loses its ratings if the end is meaningless, and here it's still a presentation. Make the audience understand why they should believe you.
Always remember, the final note is the final chance to convert your audience to your words. Make it so punchy that it hits directly to their mind.
- End it with a call to action:
By the end of the presentation, make your audience act on your visuals. You can ask them to check on your website or suggest an opinion on your work or execute any particular ideas or goals.
- Use Brand Slogan or Tagline
Brand slogans are the shortest way to describe what your business offers.
For instance, Disneyland: "The happiest place on the Earth" or McDonald: "I'm lovin' it"
These are the most useful tips to make a creative presentation video that stands out effectively.

Remember: Less is more.
A strong presentation is so much more than information pasted onto a series of slides with fancy backgrounds. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others. Here are some unique elements that make a presentation stand out.
- Fonts: Sans Serif fonts such as Helvetica or Arial are preferred for their clean lines, which make them easy to digest at various sizes and distances. Limit the number of font styles to two: one for headings and another for body text, to avoid visual confusion or distractions.
- Colors: Colors can evoke emotions and highlight critical points, but their overuse can lead to a cluttered and confusing presentation. A limited palette of two to three main colors, complemented by a simple background, can help you draw attention to key elements without overwhelming the audience.
- Pictures: Pictures can communicate complex ideas quickly and memorably but choosing the right images is key. Images or pictures should be big (perhaps 20-25% of the page), bold, and have a clear purpose that complements the slide’s text.
- Layout: Don’t overcrowd your slides with too much information. When in doubt, adhere to the principle of simplicity, and aim for a clean and uncluttered layout with plenty of white space around text and images. Think phrases and bullets, not sentences.
As an intern or early career professional, chances are that youâll be tasked with making or giving a presentation in the near future. Whether youâre pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others.

What Makes a PowerPoint Presentation Effective?

- Prepared to Win . Research, plan, and prepare your presentation professionally. It helps you deliver an effective message to your target audience.
- Designed Correctly . Your visual points should stand out without overwhelming your audience. A good PowerPoint visual shouldn’t complicate your message.
- Practiced to Perfection . Rehearse your timing and delivery so that your points land as practiced with a live audience.
- Delivered With Poise . Present with a relaxed inner calm and confident outward projection. Give your audience warmth, excitement, and energy.
- Free From Mistakes . Avoid typos, cheesy clip art, and mistakes like reading directly from your slides.
Consider this your all-inclusive guide to how to make a good presentation. Weâll look at preparing your presentation and explore how to design it in PowerPoint. Plus, we’ll cover how to practice and nail your delivery successfully come presentation time.
Weâll also address what not to do in these tips for PowerPoint presentationsâso you can sidestep any big mistakes. Now let’s dig into these tips for effective PowerPoint presentations.
Killer Presentation Preparation Tips to Get Started Right
Before even opening PowerPoint, start by addressing these things. These Microsoft PowerPoint tips and tricks will ensure that you’re prepared for your presentation:
1. Know Your Stuff
Your presentation isnât about your slides alone. Itâs about the message you want to get across. Before filling in stats, facts and figures, think about the narrative that’ll be discussed, why, and in what order.
2. Write It Out
Start in a Word or Google doc, and storyboard or script the entire presentation. This will give you an idea of how the information presented will flow and how viewers will see it in sequence. Learn the complete writing process .
3. Highlight Whatâs Most Important
A presentation covers the most crucial pieces only. Whatever youâve been working on that led to thisâa paper, a work project, a new product designâdoesnât need to be shared in its entirety. Pick key points and put the rest in an âAppendixâ to refer to during the Q&A session at the end.
4. Know Your Audience
How you talk to a room full of medical professionals should be different from the way you address a room full of young entrepreneurs. Everything, in fact, is different: your topic selection, the language you use, the examples you give to illustrate points. The little bits of humor you include should be tailored specifically with your target audience in mind.
Understand your audience’s needs to create a successful PowerPoint presentation. Customize your content to meet their specific requirements.
5. Rehearse! (Yes, Already)
Itâs never too early to get used to the rhythm of your presentation and take note of points you want to emphasize. While saying it out loud, youâll start to develop a âfeelâ for the material. You’ll notice that some things work well, while others donât and might need to be worked around.
6. Rewrite After You Rehearse
As you’re rehearsing your presentation, you’re bound to stumble over sections that don’t quite flow naturally. Instead of reworking your delivery, it might be time to consider the content and rewrite the areas that served as stumbling blocks.
“Editing is hard. ‘It’s good enough,’ is a phrase wannabes use. Leaders take editing seriously.” – Anthony Trendl
The most important part of creating a great presentation is the writing stage. The second most important stage is rewriting.
7. Share With a Friend
If the stakes are high for your presentation, it’s never too early to get feedback from those that you trust. Here’s an article that helps you collaborate as a team on a PowerPoint presentation. Get PowerPoint design tips from those that you trust when you collaborate.
Simple Tips to Design Your PowerPoint Presentation Better
Second only to you (the information you bring and how you present it) is your PowerPoint slides. If not designed well, a PowerPoint can be disengaging or distracting (regardless of the content quality). Here are some presentation design tips to make sure this doesnât happen to you:
8. Keep Your Slides Simple
This is one of the most important PowerPoint presentation tips to follow when designing your slides. Keep in mind that less is more (effective.) A cluttered slide is distracting. It causes confusion for an audience: Which part of the slide should I focus on? Should I read the slide or pay attention to the presenter?
A simple, visually appealing slide will engage your audience, keeping them on track with your main points. Here’s an example of a simple slide that serves its purpose perfectly:
Minimalist slide templates like Nook can help you resist the urge to clutter your slides.
9. Limit Words on Your Slides
Piggybacking on the last point, less is more effective. If possible, avoid bullets altogether. Otherwise cut them to just a few simple words. The audience should be listening, not reading.
10. Use High-Quality Photos and Graphics
One of the most important tips for quality PowerPoint presentations is to use high-quality photos and graphics.
Earlier in this tutorial, you saw Envato Elements, an all-you-can-download service with PPT tips inside of templates. Those pre-built designs are a beginner’s best friend. They’re even better when paired with Elements’ unlimited library of stock photos .
People are more likely to take you seriously if your presentation is visually appealing. Users view attractive design as more usable. Similarly, they’ll view a more attractive PowerPoint as more effective.
11. Use Accurate and Relevant Charts and Graphs
Charts and graphs can also be distracting if theyâre not used right. Make sure your information design is simple and clean so that the audience doesnât spend the entire time trying to decipher what your X axis says. Learn more about PPT data presentation .
12. Use High-Quality, Fresh Templates
Have you seen the old PowerPoint template that looks like worn paper and uses ink splashes? Yeah, so has your audience. Templates can be distracting if they’re too basic or if the design feels dated. You need one with great design options.
Costs are always a concern. But when you use Envato Elements, you’ve got everything you need to create a great PowerPoint presentation . That’s thanks to the incredible all-you-can-download subscription package.
The best PowerPoint tips and tricks can hardly compare to the value of using a template while building your presentation.
On Envato Elements, there are thousands of PowerPoint design templates that are ready to use. Instead of designing a presentation from scratch, start with a template! Just add your specifics to the placeholders.
Templates like Galaxi are impressively designed and waiting for your slide specifics.
The best PowerPoint design tips save you time. And there’s no tip more powerful than this one: use a pre-built template . It helps you master how to present a PowerPoint without spending all your time in the app.
13. Choose Appropriate Fonts
Fonts are an important part of engaging your audience. Fonts and typography choices have a subconscious effect on viewers. They can characterize your company’s presentation and brand either positively or negatively. Make sure that you’re choosing fonts that are professional and modern.
14. Choose Color Well
Like font choice, colors cause specific subconscious reactions from viewers. Choosing an outdated color combination for your presentation will render it ineffective.
Below is an example of the Popsicle PowerPoint template , which has a modern presentation color choice:
The Popsicle PowerPoint template highlights how harmonized color palettes can create beautiful slides.
15. Clean + Simple Formatting Makes All the Difference!
We’ve got a full tutorial on how to make a good presentation slide . Give it a read through and review the accompanying video. Just remember, less is more. The focus is you and your message , not your slides.
16. Make Sure All Objects Are Aligned
A simple way to create a well-designed presentation is to make sure all items on a slide are intentionally aligned. To do this, hold down Shift and select all the objects you want to include. Then choose Arrange in the options bar and apply Alignment Type .
17. Limit Punctuation
This isn’t the place for exclamation points. Emphasize your points (while speaking). Donât enlist punctuation to do this for you. (Leave these at home!!!)
18. Avoid Over-Formatting Your Points
This PowerPoint presentation tip is simple. Thereâs no need to have every word of every bullet point capitalized, or to have all your bullet points in title case. If possible, drop bullets altogether. Again, the simpler, the better!
Limit your text formatting, including reducing the use of bullets, underline, and other effects. Compare the before example on the left to the revised version on the right.
![how to make videos for presentation over-formatted vs simple text](https://blog-frontend.envato.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=1024,quality=75,format=auto/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/overformatting-presentation-tips.jpg)
19. Combine Information With Graphics in PowerPoint
One of the most powerful presentation skills for PPT is using infographics. With the right type of visuals, slides come to life and reduce the text in favor of graphics.
Infographics help combine information with graphics. It’s easier to explain complex ideas when you use visual formats that are intuitive.
Practice Presentation Tips: Rehearse, Rehearse, Rehearse!
Delivery is probably more important than the actual content. Here’s how to become more aware of your own unique ticks, and how to present like a polished pro:
20. Iâll Say It Again, Rehearse!
Just do it. Again and again. Experiment with pauses, gestures, and body language. Practice around one hour for every minute of your speech.
21. Practice With a Timer
Consistency is key to an effective PowerPoint presentation. The timing should be similar (ideally the same) each time you rehearse. This one will especially pay off when itâs time to present in front of your audience.
22. Slow It Down
Many of the best speakers today intentionally speak slowly. Youâll have the chance to emphasize, appear more thoughtful, and make your information easier to digest.
23. Pause More Often
Like the prior tip, pausing more often allows your main points to be emphasized and gives time for information to sink in. You need to let key points breathe a little before rushing into the next section.
24. Record Yourself
Use your phoneâs voice recorder. Assess and critique yourself. Consider:
- Are your pauses too short or too long?
- Are you speaking slowly enough? Too slow?
- When youâre nervous, does your voice get high like the mice in Cinderella?
![how to make videos for presentation record yourself presenting](https://blog-frontend.envato.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=1024,quality=75,format=auto/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/recording-self-powerpoint-tips.jpg)
Itâs always weird to hear your own voice recorded; donât stress it. Use this as a time to adjust.
25. Choose Three Focal Points in the Room
If you stare at the same spot (or even creepier, the same person) the entire time, your presentation will be ineffective (and awkward.) People will be distracted by you, wondering what you’re staring at.
Try this: pick three points in the room (typically: left, center, right). Take time to direct your delivery toward each physical focal point in the room. Also, focus on the center when making your primary points.
26. Vary Your Sentence Length
This makes you sound more interesting, and it’s easier for your audience to follow. Think short and punchy. Or go long and complex for dramatic effect.
27. Modulate!
Don’t speak in monotone for your whole presentation. Be conscious of raising and lowering your voice tone. Otherwise, people will tune you out, and you’ll come across like the teacher in Charlie Brown.
28. Practice in Front of a Mirror
What you look like is as important as how you sound. Pretend you’re having a normal conversation, and allow your hands to move with your speech to emphasize your points. Just donât get carried away! (Iâm thinking Brene Brown or President Obama , not your Aunt Jamie after a few gin and tonics.)
29. Use âPresent Modeâ When Rehearsing
When you finally are ready to hit the Present button in PowerPoint, make sure you use the Present Mode option. This allows you (and only you) to view extra notes about each slideâjust in case you forget something!
30. Practice With New Audiences
If possible, try doing a few real live test runs as a webinar or even at a local Toastmasters organization to get some feedback from a live audience.
31. Engage the Audience by Asking Questions
There’s no reason that a presentation should be one-sided. Why not invert the format and ask your audience a question?
To learn how to create a slide that kicks off a Q&A, use this article . These PowerPoint design tips help you create an engaging and exciting discussion.
Helpful Tips to Step Up and Deliver Come Presentation Time
When the actual day arrives, there are only a few last PowerPoint presentation tips and guidelines to keep in mind:
32. Take a Deep Breath
Deep breathing is proven to relieve stress. Itâs simple, and it’ll help you remain calm and in the moment, even up to the last minute before starting.
33. Lighten Up Your Mood
Tell yourself a joke or watch a funny video clip. Do this before the presentation, of course. Research concludes that happy people are more productive. More productive is more focused and able to perform better.
34. Remind Yourself to Take It Slow
When we’re stressed or nervous (or both), we tend to speak faster. Consciously, take yet another deep breath and remind yourself to take it slow!
35. Read the Room
Every presentation room has a temperature. It’s your job as a speaker to gauge it and tailor your presentation to it.
Here’s a great example. Layoffs are coming at a company, and you’re asked to speak to an audience. Even if the audience isn’t personally affected by the actions, you’ve got to consider the morale of the workforce.
![how to make videos for presentation read the room](https://blog-frontend.envato.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=1024,quality=75,format=auto/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/presentation-room-energy.jpg)
Skilled speakers have a knack for reading the energy of the room and adjusting their presentation on the fly.
The last thing that group will want to hear is how strong the economy is and why the company is the best place to work. That doesn’t mean that you’ve got to align to their uncertainty, but don’t go too far against the grain while presenting.
Robert Kennedy III is a master of bringing energy and aligning a speech to the audience. Here’s his advice for adjusting:
“It can be hard to wake up a “dead” crowd but go for it. Most of all, don’t take their energy personally. Focus on serving them with every bit of your fiber then leave empty.”
36. Fake It âTil You Make It!
Go forward with confidence. If you act confident, you’ll start to feel more confident. Move slowly with grace, speak clearly, smile, wear something nice. Youâll appear confident to all attendees (no matter how you feel internally).
PowerPoint Presentation Tips and Tricks to Help Avoid Mistakes (What Not to Do)
Most importantly, focus on what you can do to make your presentation better. There are a few important things not to do that we’ve got to address. Here are a handful of PowerPoint presentation tips and tricks to help you avoid missteps.
37. Stop With the Sound Effects
Sound effects are distracting and outdated. In most cases, avoid them. Add audio or music to your presentation to inject interest or highlight an important point, but it’s something to take extra care with. If you insert audio, then make sure your use really connects with your audience and has a fresh approach. Otherwise, it’s best to leave it out.
38. Donât Use Flashy Slide Transitions
Again, this is distracting and outdated. Use transitions and subtle animations in your PowerPoint presentation. But you need to take care and do it right .
39. Beware of Clip Art
This PowerPoint presentation tip shouldnât even have to be said. But please, please don’t use clip art. Use professional graphics instead.
40. Don’t Be Afraid to Be Afraid
The fear of public speaking is a real one. Many beginners think that if they’re feeling nervous that a presentation won’t go well or succeed. That might lead them to cancel the presentation.
Here’s a tip from expert Sandra Zimmer, who leads The Self-Expression Center on conquering your fears before you take the stage:
“Get out of your head and into your body. I do this through a grounding exercise that really works to calm nerves and bring you present in the moment.”
If you think that public speaking fears aren’t normal, you might never give your award-winning presentation. So don’t be afraid to be afraid, and acknowledge it’s part of the process!
41. Don’t Read Directly During Your PowerPoint Presentation
If you spend your entire presentation looking at the screen or your note cards, you’re sure to lose your audience’s attention. They’ll disengage from what you’re saying, and your presentation will fall flat.
Reading from your paper or screen also makes it look like youâre not prepared. Many people do it, but no one should. As a general rule, only present something you know well and have, at least mostly, memorized the main points of.
42. Don’t Miss Out on PowerPoint Customizations
Many new PowerPoint users often make significant mistakes when using Envato Elements designs.
The best way to see how to make a good presentation PPT is to start with designs from others. That means using a template, but that doesn’t mean you can’t customize them!
Don’t forget that PowerPoint templates are infinitely customizable. Think of them as guides with built-in presentation design tips.

Work in PowerPoint More Effectively (Tips & Tricks to Level Up Your PPT Skills)
These PowerPoint tips will help you get the most out of the application to level up your next presentation. Let’s dive in.
43. Use the Visual Guides
When you’re designing your next PowerPoint presentation, it helps to create a sense of visual rhythm. Slides that have objects aligned and centered are more likely to resonate with an audience.
44. Use a Few Animations (Tastefully)
Animations in effective PowerPoint presentations are a slippery slope. We’ve all sat through presentations where there were so many objects in motion that it was easy to lose focus on the key ideas in the presentation.
But that’s why animations get an unfairly bad reputation. Use animations to create motion and hold an audience’s attention. Use them sparingly and on key elements on your slide, and you’ll capture that attention properly.
45. Stage Key Content With Animations
You just learned that animations should avoid being distracting. But there’s an important principle to using animations properly. It’s called staging content.
Staging content means that the content appears step by step. There’s nothing worse than overwhelming an audience with all your content at once. But when you stage content, bring it on step by step.
Take it from presentation pro Suzannah Baum :
“If youâre sharing a slide with lots of different points on it, using the animation to reveal those points one at a time is a way to keep the presenterâs content flowing smoothly.”
For more animation presentation tips and tricks, follow our guide .
46. Add a Video to Your PowerPoint
When you’re sharing a big idea in your presentation, it helps to share your perspective from a few different angles. Adding a video to supplement your content can do just that. Luckily, it’s easy to add and embed a YouTube video in your next PowerPoint presentation.
47. Add Charts & Graphs
Charts and graphs can help you tell stories with data. It’s easy for an audience to zone out when you throw a big data table or set of statistics at them.
instead, convert those to charts and graphs. Try out our tutorial to learn how to edit those graphs.
48. Build Your Own Infographics With SmartArt
Earlier in this tutorial, we gave you one of my favorite PowerPoint design tips: use infographic templates.
Here’s another. One of my favorite PowerPoint features is SmartArt, which allows you to build infographics right inside the app.
You don’t have to use another graphic design app like Photoshop or Illustrator to add visuals. Instead, try out SmartArt to help you build graphics that are easy to update.
49. Use Presenter View
Remember that when you use the PowerPoint, you’ re the presentation. The slides are just there to reinforce what you’ve got to say and support your speaking points.
That’s why I always recommend using Presenter view. More often than not, you’re going to have several displays. Presenter view shows your content on your screen, while your presentation is displayed on another screen.
50. Track Your PowerPoint Changes
One of my favorite PowerPoint design tips is to collaborate. Those who know you best will suggest compelling changes that are sure to help you succeed.
As you start collaborating on your presentation, it helps to keep track of proposed and included PowerPoint changes. Use this article to track changes made by others.

54. Make Bulk Edits With Master Slides
When you think about how to present a PowerPoint, consider your branding. That means keeping your logo front and center in the eyes of an audience. But if youâre working with a lengthy slide deck, this could seem daunting.
Thatâs where master slides come in. Theyâre common in premium layouts, and theyâre a leading example of presentation skills for PPT. Master slides let you make bulk edits fast.
55. Shrink File Sizes for Sharing
Many of the top presentation tips involve making your slides more accessible. Often, that involves sharing them with audiences online.

56. Map Processes With Flowcharts
As you consider how to do a good PowerPoint presentation, think of ease of understanding. After all, youâre trying to explain something to your audience.
The Flowcharts in Infographics  template seamlessly illustrates ideas and processes. A flowchart maps out a process in a visual way. Instead of resorting to endless narration, try a quick illustration like this. It saves you time and effort, and your audience is sure to thank you.

Microsoft’s PowerPoint is extremely popular in schools, universities, and the corporate world, but it has never been as popular with home users. Not surprising since it’s all about creating presentations, something a private person doesn’t have to do very often.
So, if you suddenly find yourself needing to make a PowerPoint presentation and have no idea how to make it good, rest assured that you aren’t alone and there’s hope for you.
Microsoft Office 365 Home

These days, PowerPoint is more than just a basic slideshow—it can be used to create video presentations with voice-over narration, and it even has an AI-based helper called Designer that gives suggestions on how to make your presentation better.
Here are several smart tips and tricks you can use to improve your PowerPoint presentations and come off as a pro.
1. Customize Quick Access
Have you noticed that PowerPoint—and the other apps in Microsoft 365 for that matter—have a small, narrow toolbar at the very top of the application window? By default, you’ll find shortcut buttons for toggling Auto Save and basic actions like Save, Undo, Repeat, etc.
This nifty toolbar also comes with some app-specific actions that you may or may not use frequently. In PowerPoint, for example, there’s a shortcut to start slideshows from the beginning.
This toolbar is called Quick Access and you can actually customize what actions show up here. You can add frequently used actions while removing the ones you never use.
This can make it easier to find important functions that you would otherwise have to rummage around the ribbon to find.
![how to make videos for presentation Anpassa Snabbåtkomst](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/snabbatkomst.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
To customize Quick Ass, select File > Options and then Quick Access Toolbar . The box on the right shows the actions currently on it and their order. The box on the left has all the available actions you can add.
Select an action you want in Quick Access and click on Add . To change the order, highlight the action you want to move and use the the arrow buttons on the right side of the window.
2. Use custom themes and templates
PowerPoint comes with a bunch of ready-made templates for presentations, which have also been themed.
A theme is a collection of settings for typography, colors, and effects that make it easy to maintain a consistent style across presentations. A template is a theme plus ready-made content that makes it easier to make a particular type of presentation again in the future.
![how to make videos for presentation Teman och mallar](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/teman-2.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
For example, a company may have a theme that defines the colors and fonts employees should use in presentations, plus a number of templates for product presentations and quarterly reports.
A template may have a number of ready-made slides with images, charts, and everything else already laid out. When you create a new presentation from a template, you will find these individual page templates in New slide in either Start or Insert .
Creating your own custom theme
New themes can be added at any time as long as you have a presentation open—even if it’s a blank presentation.
Select the Design tab and click on the small down arrow with a dash over it on the right side of the Variants section. This shows the four categories of settings you can designate for a theme.
![how to make videos for presentation Temafärger](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/andra-temafarger.jpg?quality=50&strip=all)
Select Colors > Customize Colors… and the Create new theme colors dialog box will open. A complete set of theme colors includes two pairs of text and background colors (dark/light, to be used either for dark text on a light background or vice versa), six spot colors used for graphic elements, and two colors for hyperlinks. Enter a name at the bottom and click Save when you are done.
If you also want to change the font, select Fonts > Customize Fonts… and you’ll be able to designate a Heading font and a Body font . I recommend a neutral, easy-to-read font for both.
Under Effects , you can choose the style of effects but there’s no way to customize or create a completely new effect. Under Background Styles , you can select Format Background… to tweak backgrounds.
![how to make videos for presentation Spara nytt tema](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/spara-tema.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
When you’re done, go to the Themes section of the Design tab and click the down arrow with a line above it, then select Save Current Theme… to save your new theme. Give it a name and save and your new theme will appear among the available themes in the Design tab of all presentations.
Create your own custom templates
To create a new PowerPoint template, you can start from either a blank presentation or an existing template. Don’t add any content of your own yet. Instead, go to the View tab and click on Slide Master .
Start by changing the theme of your new template, under the Themes button. If you created your own theme as described above, it will normally be at the top of the list of available themes.
![how to make videos for presentation Teman i mallar](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/bygg-egen-mall-2.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
PowerPoint uses the term layouts for slide templates. Click on the Insert Layout button to create a new slide template.
New layouts are automatically given a header and a footer, but you can remove them if you wish (either by selecting and deleting the elements manually or via checkboxes in the Slide Background tab).
To delete an existing layout, right-click on it in the list and select Delete Layout or select it in the list and press Backspace.
![how to make videos for presentation Bygg en mall](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/bygga-egen-mall.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
To add new design elements to a layout, click the Insert Placeholder button in the ribbon and select the element type you want. You can then position and resize it, and change the placeholder text for it.
If you want to make per-layout changes, make sure to select that layout in the list before tweaking. For example, you can change a layout’s color theme or switch between the four background formats.
When you’re happy, save the template by selecting File > Save As and changing the format to Powerpoint Template (*.potx) . Templates can be stored either locally on your computer or in OneDrive—and since the theme is included, you can freely share the template with others.
![how to make videos for presentation Länk till Excel](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/excel-lank-1.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
3. Link to Excel data
If you’re making a presentation with figures in tables or charts, you can make your life easier by linking PowerPoint to Excel.
To do this, start by copying a chart in Excel, then switching over to PowerPoint and navigating to the Home tab in the ribbon. Select Paste > Paste Special… , then choose the Paste Link option, select Microsoft Excel Chart Object and finish by clicking OK .
![how to make videos for presentation Länk till Excel](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/excel-lank.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
A linked chart, table, or other Excel object can be instantly updated with up-to-date information as the data in the Excel document changes, all without having to copy and paste all over again.
To update the Excel object, right-click on it in PowerPoint and select Update Link . PowerPoint will retrieve the latest data to be reflected in the Excel object. This makes it easy to build a data-heavy report in PowerPoint that can be kept up-to-date with zero hassle.
4. Edit and apply effects to images
Basic slide editing in PowerPoint isn’t difficult, but there are a few tricks you can learn to make your slides both behave the way you want them to and do new things you may not have realized were possible.
For example, did you know that PowerPoint has built-in editing features that can change brightness, contrast, and sharpness of images?
![how to make videos for presentation Redigera bild](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/bildredigering.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
Select an image in a slide and the Picture Format tab will open. Here you’ll find several adjustments you can make:
- Corrections alters brightness, contrast, and sharpness
- Color applies color filters
- Artistic Effects stylizes the image (but apart from the useful Blur effect, most of these feel pretty old-fashioned)
- Transparency makes the image more or less transparent
- Picture Styles can format the image in various ways (e.g., frame, shadow, rounded corners, perspective, etc.)
One thing you’ll notice when you add an image is that PowerPoint automatically generates alternative text—that is, descriptive text that gets read aloud for users with visual impairments. You can set this text to whatever you want, and it’s nice that Microsoft has thought about accessibility in this way.
5. Fill a shape with an image
PowerPoint makes it easy to fill a vector graphic shape with an image instead of just a solid color or gradient.
Create the shape as you want it, then make sure it’s selected before navigating to either the Home or Figure Format tabs in the ribbon. Select Shape Fill > Picture… , then select From a File to pick an image that’s saved on your computer.
![how to make videos for presentation Bild i form](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/bild-i-form.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1176)
If you aren’t satisfied with the positioning of the image in the shape, you can open the Picture Format tab and select Crop > Crop to resize and move the image in relation to the shape, allowing you to center it at a different point and even zoom in or out.
6. Incorporate audio and video
These days, PowerPoint isn’t just for presentations on screen or with a projector—it’s increasingly common to export finished presentations as videos to be sent to recipients, uploaded to the web, embedded in mobile apps, and more.
![how to make videos for presentation Spela in berättarröst och video](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/spela-in-ljud.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
To make such presentations more vivid and interesting, you can record voice-over audio and/or video from a connected webcam to be placed on top of slides. You can find these features in the Record tab, where PowerPoint has also placed the Export to Video function.
The export function allows you to set the video resolution as well as how long each slide will display in the video.

7. Get AI help with Designer
Designer is the new name for Design Ideas, a feature that has been around since PowerPoint 2016 and uses machine learning to analyze the content of presentations and suggest improvements.
You can find it as a button in the Home and Design tabs, with Designer itself appearing in a column on the right.
![how to make videos for presentation Designer](https://b2c-contenthub.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/designer.jpg?quality=50&strip=all&w=1200)
This feature continuously analyzes your presentation and displays a list of suggested changes for the current slide. If you don’t like any of the suggestions, you can click on See More Design Ideas at the bottom and it will generate additional suggestions.
How attractive and useful are the suggestions? Well, it varies. When I tested it myself, they’ve rarely been results that I could use straight away—but the suggestions were helpful in that they gave me several great ideas that I hadn’t thought of myself.
For example, in the image above, you can see a suggestion for a color filter on a photo that looks like it could work really well with bright text and maybe a little blur.

Everyone knows that a free ebook is one of the best lead magnet strategies for businesses of any size. But if youâre an author looking to earn some income you can make money from selling ebooks. Writing ebooks for money is also a common form of passive income, preferred by some, especially after the pandemic.
In fact, ebooks are in popular demand, so much so that ebook sales have exploded in the past few years, and the growth is expected to continue to grow at a steady annual rate of 3.92% up to 2028 internationally.
Even though free ebooks offer value to the subscriber exchanging their email for the download, paid-for ebooks must deliver a wealth of valuable information plus actionable advice for the reader.
In this article, we'll help you learn why ebooks are great for earning passive income, and share tips and guidelines for where and how to sell your ebooks.
Hereâs a short selection of 8 easy-to-edit ebook templates you can edit, share and download with Visme. View more templates below:

Passive income is one of the most sought-after sources of income today. It means you're able to generate income with minimal labor involved. In other words, work less and earn more. Who doesnât want that, right?
Well, ebooks are a great addition to any passive income strategy. The hard work starts at the beginning, and once itâs done, all you need to do is maintain your sales and marketing. Once you create an ebook, market it and share it, it can technically sell itself.
To make money writing ebooks takes a decent amount of effort to write valuable content. Not to mention, building a strong brand that will carry your ebook to success is not an overnight task.
But when you do set everything up correctly, ebooks can help you make money for a long time. In fact, the more evergreen your content is, and the more you keep promoting and updating it, the longer the life of your ebook.
Need more convincing? Here are some reasons why ebooks are great for passive income:
Theyâre relatively easy digital products to make.
Even though an ebook will take work to put together and publish, itâs still a much easier digital product to create than a multi-lesson online course. You might even have most of the content in your blog post articles that can together create the foundation for an ebook.
Templates also make ebook creation a lot easier than starting from scratch. Using them also increases your chances of creating a successful ebook.
Visme, for example, offers pre-designed multipage templates in lots of different designs and for a variety of industries.
Putting the ebook together once you have the content is pretty straightforward. If youâre working with a team inside your company, then itâs even easier. Using collaboration tools makes ebook building an accessible and inspiring activity.
Plus, even if it takes you a while to create your first ebook, it will be much easier to make more. Why? Because you'll learn from the failures and successes of your last ebook (or ebooks) and make sure your future works are best-sellers.
Beyond being an easy digital product to make, you can easily sell your ebooks online. In the latter part of this article, weâll discuss how to sell an ebook online.
Build relationships with customers and drive sales growth

They make for great lead magnets.
Collecting leads for your business is a vital step in the marketing funnel. Ebooks are great lead magnets because you are offering value as you get the personâs email. Many people create free ebooks in exchange for a sign-up, so your paid ebook must provide more value than a free one.
The best ebooks, specifically the ones that are most suited for passive income, are the ones that offer evergreen content. A good example of evergreen content is a topic that wonât change or evolve too fast after youâve written it.
They help with link building.
Ebook creation and promotion generally need a landing page on your website as the lead generation starting point. Add the landing page URL to relevant blog posts and other content on your site.
Likewise, other people can add your link to their content, and you can share the landing page directly on social media.
Selling ebooks needs a good and trustworthy platform. There are many publishing and distribution options, big and small. Choose the one that works for you.
If your ebook is not in the file type your publisher or distributor asks for, there are plenty of free online converters. Additionally, if you have the content and want someone else to convert it to ebook format manually, you can find many people on Fiverrr who offer this service.
In this section, weâll show you where to sell ebooks online and how to get started.

![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/sellfy-logo.jpg)
Moving away from sites that concentrate on ebooks alone, thereâs also Sellfy â a digital product marketplace where you can sell any digital product for download. You can sell directly from Sellfy or use the link on your website.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/payhip-logo.jpg)
Another digital download marketplace is Payhip. To sell an ebook on Payhip, it has to be ready as the file type of your choice. For a site like this, youâre better off selling your ebook as an EPUB. Sell with a Payhip link or add the link to a button on a landing page.
![how to make videos for presentation Gumroad logo](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/4.jpg)
Finally, we have Gumroad â this online marketplace allows users to create a store to sell digital products such as courses, memberships, and ebooks. You have a bit more control over where and how your ebook is marketed as well as the price for an ebook when compared to other platforms.
Ready to use any of these platforms? You can start raking in your ebook profits by pairing Visme with any of the tools weâve shared.
People have different ways of consuming content, and thatâs why your ebook should be easy to read in a variety of digital formats. Also, thereâs no golden rule that says your ebook must be in a vertical orientation.
For example, reading an ebook on a laptop is easier when itâs horizontal as the entire page is visible. The choice you make depends on how you expect your readers to view the ebook.
The next choice you need to make is the format and file type. There are four commonly used ebook formats and file types:
Printable PDF
Interactive pdf, multimedia/interactive html5.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ebook-file-format-infographic.jpg)
The file format you choose will mostly depend on your ebook's style. Many ebooks are just plain text, resembling a paper book but digital. Think Kindle readers, for example.
Other ebooks are highly visual and have more of a magazine feel, with large images and creative fonts. Furthermore, an ebook can be interactive with videos, animations and even sound.
But whatâs the difference? Letâs take a look.
The classic printable PDF is one of the most common digital formats for transforming paper books and documents into online versions. Essentially, a PDF ebook can be printed and bound or read on a digital device.
The main downside with a static PDF ebook format is that the pages arenât responsive on screens, and the viewer needs to zoom in and out to read small text.
Your best use of a printable PDF is to offer one as an option to the reader. Create an interactive PDF or digital experience and provide a printable PDF download as an option.
A great way to improve a regular PDF ebook is to make it interactive. Â Add hyperlinks, in-document navigation, informational popups, videos and interactive data visualizations.
Downloading interactive PDFs will only keep the links; everything else will deactivate. To share the full interactive version with the reader, youâll need to share your ebook via a link and offer the option to download the less interactive version.
Like an interactive PDF, you can share your multimedia interactive ebook  as an HTML5 file or via a live link. Of all the formatting options, this is the one we like to call âa digital experienceâ due to the multimedia capabilities.
Not only can you add links, videos and popups, but you can also add animated elements and transitions between pages.
EPUB is the universal ebook file format legible by most digital readers. To create an EPUB ebook, use a design tool like Adobe InDesign or Pages from Apple. Thankfully, you can also convert PDF files into EPUB files. But the best conversion suggestion is from HTML5 to EPUB.
Youâre much better off publishing as an EPUB than a PDF for professional ebook publishing and distribution. EPUB ebooks are responsive and fit better on digital readers for easy reading.
Now to the good part â selling your ebook(s). Even if youâre hoping for your ebook to grow your brand awareness and be a good lead magnet, you also want it to be profitable.
Here are the steps to follow for selling ebooks that fatten up your bank account.
1. Find Out What Your Audience Wants, and Plan
To make money from ebooks, they need to be worth paying money for. Your ebooks must bring valuable information and actionable advice to the reader.
The content should be either timely or evergreen. If the content is about a current trend, you must update the ebook when needed and send previous buyers a notice to download or read the new version.
Have a planning meeting, or start a Slack channel with your team to get the ebook project off the ground and running. Use a project management document with charts to organize the tasks by importance, dependency and person in charge.
Brainstorm with your team to get a good plan going and start doing the research. Here's a project plan template you can use to organize and plan your own book writing project:
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/book-writing-project-plan.jpg)
The one golden rule about ebooks is to âwrite what you know.â That said, it also needs to be content that your audience wants; otherwise, they wonât feel the need to buy your book.
Use tools like Google Trends, SEMrush, Answer the Public, Quora and Reddit to find out what people are searching for in topics you know about. Also, check what your current customers ask your support team; you might get some ideas there.
Here are the best-selling ebook categories on Amazon:
- Religion and Spirituality
- Biographies and Memoirs
- Business and Money
- Cookbooks, Food and Wine
Finally, look at the ebooks already available online. Take notes on the best-selling titles, their price, number of pages and what the cover looks like.
To help with the voice and message of your ebook, create a user persona profile to have a better idea of whom youâll be writing the ebook for.
Here's a user persona template you can customize for your own use:
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/learning-customer-persona-template.jpg)
You might already have user personas from branding and marketing strategies; leverage those to save time. When planning the outline of the ebook, have the user persona always in mind for the messaging, wording, voice and tone.
2. Write Your Ebook
Now itâs time to write your ebook . Before you start, check if you donât have content you can reuse from blog posts or newsletters. You can, of course, write the book with all new content.
Here are some tips for writing the content for your ebook.
Start with an outline.
Like any type of long-form content, start your ebook with an outline. The depth of subheadings and bullet points depends on your earlier choice: text-heavy or visually rich formatting.
Separate your content into chunks; for an ebook with mostly text, youâll need main headings, similar to how chapters have titles. When creating a visual style ebook, branch down from your main headings and use subheadings, bullet points and quotes. Make a note of any image placements and their captions.
Use the main titles to draft an initial table of contents. Rule no.1 of creating the table of contents pages: Do so at the very end; you wonât know the final page numbers and titles until youâve finished the entire ebook.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/table-of-contents-ebook-template.jpg)
Write the content.
Using the outline, write the content. Remember we said to write what you know? Well, that doesnât mean you donât have to fact-check. You need to show that the statements you make are accurate and back them up with expert quotes, links to research, footnotes or proof of personal and professional experience.
When giving advice or tips, use examples of possible scenarios that apply to what youâre sharing. Itâs better if the examples are real, but you can change names for anonymity. Mention and refer to case studies or previous experiences to prove that your advice works.
When youâve got the entire ebook written, put it down for a couple of days (if you have the time) and then come back to it with fresh eyes. Read it from beginning to end and check for these things:
- Is there a flow from opening to closing?
- Is the introduction inviting and interesting?
- Does the content progress in some way from one topic to another?
- Are all the visuals supporting the content positively?
- Does all the interactive and multimedia content work as it should?
- Do the transitions between sections make sense?
- Is the conclusion concise and well-rounded?
Donât forget to proofread!
Finally, donât forget to proofread the text. Use tools like Grammarly or Language Tool as you write, and then do a final check with Grammarly Pro or Hemingway App to find language and grammar inconsistencies. If thereâs an editor in your team, have them look through it and make changes to improve the flow, message and tone.
One of the reasons we love interactive ebooks made with Visme and shared with a live link is that all changes will reflect for the user the next time they open the ebook. This way, changes as small as a typo or as significant as a missing paragraph wonât mean republishing the ebook completely.
Having a writer's block? Or perhaps you need help proofreading your ebook. Vismeâs AI text generator can help you create high-quality content. You can also use it to draft your ebook outline or proofread your content.
3. Get an ISBN For Your Ebook (Optional)
Before you design your ebook to sell, you might need an ISBN for it. ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number and is what distributors and bookstores use to distinguish your ebook from others.
Most publishers and distributors need an ISBN to sell any book, including an ebook. The only exceptions are Amazon and Visme live links and some digital download sites like Gumroad.
If you self-publish a physical book and an ebook of the same manuscript, each will need a unique ISBN. The same applies to different file formats of the same ebook.
4. Design Your Ebook
Designing your ebook is next. If you decide on a text-heavy format, incorporate some visuals to break up the content here and there. For expert knowledge ebooks, donât use random stock photos to fill up space; use data visualizations instead.
These will both add visual richness and value for the reader. If you write a fiction book with very few visuals, try adding a small illustration at the beginning of each chapter, even the title or chapter number can be creative.
For ebooks with a highly visual approach, youâll need to consider visuals a homogeneous and balanced collection. The imagery is meant to both support and accompany the text while helping with the flow of content.
![how to make videos for presentation An ebook template available to customize in Visme.](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/ebook-template.jpg)
Placement of the visuals is vital for an easy-to-read pattern on every page. Take a look at some magazines to get inspired. Analyze how the text is easy to read with images and visuals dispersed in between.
Hereâs a quick rundown of the pages your ebook needs:
- Content Pages
About the Author
The info page includes the copyright, ISBN, year of publication, any disclaimers, acknowledgments and primary sources of content that need mentioning.
You have two choices to begin putting everything together: start with a template or design from scratch. The choice depends on your team and how confident the person in charge feels about it.
Even if you want to start with a blank canvas, there might be a template you like the look of. Templates are great for inspiration, and if you didnât know, even designers use templates .
Start with a template.
Templates are great for free ebooks because theyâre usually shorter and include less information. But that doesnât mean you canât use these for longer ebooks that you will charge for.
Look for templates on sites like Visme, Behance or Renderforest and choose one that fits your content. You can add, remove and duplicate pages in templates easily.

Investment Fundamentals Ebook
Create your ebook View more templates
As you design the pages, youâll notice why it was important to separate the content into clusters. Separating the content this way makes it easier to format both the text and visuals into the pages.
Take note of what content you copy into the template to avoid duplicating or missing significant sections.
Design your ebook from scratch.
Designing an ebook from scratch does need a certain level of design experience and time. If you want to add your own unique flair to your ebook, rather than using a template, then create from scratch.
Youâll need to plan the formatting first and take notes from ebook templates or ones youâve bought or read previously.
Try out a couple of designs with sample pages and test with your team before fully finalizing all the pages. This technique will save time, much like a wireframe saves time when designing websites.
Hereâs a checklist to help you complete all the steps when creating an ebook.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ebook-design-tips-checklist-infographic.jpg)
Tips to improve your ebook design.
Regardless of whether youâre using a template or not, these design tips will help. Each section has a link to more helpful reading about design. Open them in a new tab to read later.
- Font choice: Use no more than two fonts (or two styles of the same font) in your ebookâone for the headings and the others for body text. Great fonts for body text are; Lato, Garamond and Verdana. Choose the one that best matches your brand voice and tone.
- Color palette: Choose a color palette that wonât tire the reader. Avoid using color for the main body text and stick to black or a very dark gray. For the visuals, stick to the same balanced color palette for illustrations, data visualizations and even for photography .
- Visual hierarchy: Follow the rules of visual hierarchy on every page of your ebook. Also, apply flow hierarchy from page to page. Every section starts with a large title, maybe a smaller subtitle and then the body content in a regular size. Further down in the hierarchy could be footnotes and image captions.
- Margins and spacing: One of the biggest mistakes made by non-designs is to forget about the margins . Give your ebook page margins big enough to make the content feel like it's floating in the center of the page. Maintain the same margin for every single page. The only exceptions are full-width images.
- Page numbââers: Remember to number the pages in your ebook, but do so at the very end. You donât need to put a page number on the cover, info page, or table of contents. Most document creators can number the pages automatically , look for that before trying to number the pages manually.
5. Create an Eye-Catching Ebook Cover Design
Create a clever and exciting ebook cover design with the target reader/user persona in mind. Use visuals that will be attractive or relatable to them. Remember that the cover design will not only be part of the ebook itself; youâll also use it in a mockup to promote the ebook.
The cover design should include the following elements:
- Ebook Title
- Company Name/Logo
- Brand Colors and Imagery
Even though people say to ânot judge a book by its cover,â you can bet that people will do just that, regardless. Make sure the cover is inviting and makes sense with the topic of the book.
Use visual hierarchy to organize the content. For example, the title has the largest font, then the subtitle and finally the author name. You can see this in the example below.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ebook-cover-page-template.jpg)
6. Download & Publish Your Ebook
When youâre confident that your book is ready to publish, youâll have to get it ready to sell. Refer back to the section above, where we list the different types of ebook file types. Choose the one thatâs right for you. Here are a few more tips regarding your options.
If you choose to download it as a PDF (static or with active links), youâll need some way to send the ebook to your clients. Here are some ways to do that:
- Upload the PDF to your website to generate a link.
- Add the PDF file to a Dropbox folder, generate the link and when sending it to the client, change the last digit from 0 to 1, so it downloads as soon as someone clicks on it.
- Publish the ebook to the web with Visme and share the live link with customers. Theyâll be able to read in Visme (without needing an account) and can download from there if they wish to do so. This option also allows for password-protected access.
Do you want to publish your book on one of the online publisher or distributor sites? Youâll need an EPUB or Word document file.
- Use an online converter to change your PDF ebook into an EPUBâ the best only for mostly text publications.
- For responsive ebooks with lots of visuals, download it as an HTML5 and convert it to EPUB.
- Upload your Word document file ebook to the publishing site, and they will convert it for you.
Is your ebook a digital visual experience with multimedia, animations, videos and more? Your best bet is to use the Visme publication option mentioned above.
7. Price Your Ebook
When putting a price on your ebook, itâs crucial to do some market research. How much are other writers charging for their ebooks on similar topics?
Notice how books are priced like this: $6.76, $16.78 or $13.89. Itâs all about pricing psychology and how consumers see the price in decimals as being lower than a whole number.
When you choose the platform to publish and distribute your ebook, look at how much they take as a service fee. Mark up the price to a point where youâre making a profit.
How do you know if youâre making a profit? Calculate the time and work it took to create the ebook, to begin with. How much are you planning on spending on marketing?
Is your target audience people that will pay for a higher-priced book, or not? Calculate how many books youâd like to sell before making a profit and then price according to that.
Getting your pricing strategy right means you get to rake in good ebook profits.
8. Create a Landing Page For Your Ebook
Regardless of how you publish your ebook, youâll need a landing page to promote it and bring people into your sales funnel. There are several ways to get your customers to pay for the book. Remember that the least number of clicks is always best.
Sell ebooks via your website using an e-commerce integration. Both Shopify and WooCommerce are great options. For something more simple, just add a PayPal button to the landing page. Then either set it up for automatic download or via an email to their inbox.
If youâre using a publisher or distributor like Amazon or a digital product marketplace like Gumroad, add the product link to the button on your landing page.
The landing page below is for a book thatâs for sale both as a hardcoverââ or an ebook. Each button directs to the relevant sales page.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ebook-cta-graphic-example.png)
9. Promote Your Ebook
Now that everything is ready, itâs time to promote your ebook. Some writers and marketers start promoting the book before itâs even finished, building excitement and expectation.
Itâs your choice whether to start promoting before or after the ebook is ready. To advertise in advance, you have to be confident that itâll be finished on a specific date, otherwise, a delay can harm your marketing strategies.
A great way to promote and share news about your ebook is to create a mockup graphic. Here are some ways you can promote your ebook, using the mockup in a promotional design:
- Social media posts
- Social media ads
- Newsletters and email blasts
- Outreach opportunities like guest posts on other sites
- A popup on your site
- As a footer or sidebar ad on your blog posts
- Add a link to the landing page on your email signature
- Ask readers to leave honest reviews which you can share
When you have more than one ebook, create a landing page for all of them together like an archive. Add the main page with all ebooks to your websiteâs primary menu as an essential resource for your visitors.
Need help with ebook marketing? This comprehensive guide has everything you need to know about marketing your ebook.
![how to make videos for presentation how to make videos for presentation](https://visme.co/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ebook-cta-graphic-mockup.jpg)
10. Track Ebook Sales
Tracking ebook sales performance is essential to know how to proceed with promotional strategies or further ebook creation. Use a combination of techniques to track sales and reading time; that way, you can find out if the people who buy the book are actually reading it or just letting it sit in their inbox.
Most of the sites to sell ebooks in the list above offer some type of analytics. Youâll have to see what each of them has in store when you look at the pros and cons of choosing. Visme, for example, has an analytics tool that shows visitors, views and demographics.
Use Google Analytics to track who visits the landing page but doesnât buy. Add a UTM parameter to the landing page link when sharing it on social media or anywhere else. Create unique UTM parameters to track where the visits are coming from specifically.
11. Nurture Your Readers
If someone bought one of your ebooks, theyâd likely buy another. Once youâve captured their email and contact through email or via a Facebook pixel, nurture the communication with them.
Use an email provider to send newsletters about upcoming books and personalize messages relevant information to their interests.
Use Facebook ads to retarget people that have visited your site, landing page or Facebook page before. Use mockups with your cover design to make your ebook look inviting, interesting and worth buying. Send repeat buyers the first couple of chapters of an upcoming book, asking them to have first access when it goes live.

Illustration of contrasting head silhouettes exchanging ideas with open minds
When I was a freshman at New York University, the manual for the requisite speech course was titled, âHandbook of Objective Speaking.â At the beginning of the course, I assumed that âobjectiveâ was a noun, which meant the focus of a speech should be on its endgame or goal. It was not until the professor enlightened me that âobjectiveâ was an adjective to differentiate it from âsubjective,â that the focus of a speech must be meaningful to the audience and not simply a soliloquy about the presenterâs point of view.
After college, I moved into journalism and had that concept reinforced by both The Associated Press (AP) Stylebook and The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage . Each of those guides recommends that journalists should avoid using the first personâthe âIââin news writing so as to provide an objective point of view that reports facts rather than opinion.
The difference between objective and subjective communication can be measured as the difference between the frequency of the word âyouâ and âIâ in an exchange. A simple example of how that applies is in common social situations such as a dinner party. Think of the times you have been trapped sitting next to a bore who goes on and on about themselves and never asks you a question. The likelihood is that the ratio of that personâs pronouns was heavily skewed to âI.â
The solution, of course, is for communication to be effective, it must factor in the intended recipient, the audience, the reader, and the listener. It must be about the âyouââabout âthem.â After all, the âco-â in âcommunicationâ dictates that it must be about âyouâ as well as âI.â
John McWhorter, an associate professor of linguistics at Columbia University and a regular contributor to the New York Times , wrote in his column last week that âpsychologists even encourage us to try thinking of ourselves as âyouâ or âhe/she/theyâ in order to imagine how others see us. Itâs another way of reminding yourself, âItâs not all about me.ââ McWhorter references a workaround linguistic practice called âilleismâ or referring to oneself in the third person. As examples, he cites basketball superstar LeBron James and former President Trump. But McWhorter goes on to call the practice âa Tarzanian linguistic tendency,â (as in, âMe Tarzan, you Janeâ) and is still self-referential.
Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024
Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024.
In support of the importance of the correct point of view, McWhorter also references James Pennebaker, the author of The Secret Life of Pronouns , who âdemonstrated that Anglophones say (and write) âIâ or âmeâ with starkly different frequencies depending on the speakersâ intentions and mental states, so much so that one can use the pronounsâ frequency to deduce a personâs truthfulness, contentment and certainty. Specifically, using âIâ and âme.ââ In this previous Forbes blog , you can see how Pennebaker applies his observations about pronouns to the most common form of communication: conversations.
And yet in the world of business communications, it is standard operating procedure to be subjective, e.g. , to present the speakerâs point of view with a laundry list recitation of the bells and whistles of a product and/or service. Itâs fine to do that, but to be persuasive, the speaker must tell the audience what those bells and whistles mean to them. The benefits that the features provide. The âyouâ versus the âI.â
To be persuasive, be direct. Say âyouâ more than you say âI.â
Itâs all about them .
