adeps-owner [at] lists.crans.org (ADEPS)
ENS Paris-Saclay is a leading interdisciplinary research center, bringing together in a single location basic sciences, engineering sciences, and humanities and social sciences. Approximately 350 doctoral students, whether or not they have graduated from the École Normale Supérieure, are hosted in the École's laboratories. The work of these doctoral students is essential to the scientific production of the laboratories and leads to the doctoral degree, a recognized and even indispensable passport to high-level careers in France and abroad.
The preparation of a thesis at the ENS is carried out under the supervision of a thesis director attached to an ENS Paris-Saclay laboratory within the framework of a Doctoral School (ED) of the University of Paris-Saclay (or co-accredited).
Even if they operate within a single national framework, the doctoral schools have their own operations.
Consult the list of doctoral schools of the University of Paris-Saclay in which doctoral students preparing their thesis in a laboratory of ENS Paris-Saclay must register. The doctoral school to which the doctoral student belongs is the doctoral school to which the thesis director belongs.
The management of ENS Paris-Saclay, aware of the importance of the doctoral thesis in the curriculum of its students, has assigned a teacher-researcher and a manager to facilitate access to information concerning the doctorate in general, and the doctorate at ENS Paris-Saclay in particular, and to manage the specific funding for normaliens (CDSN).
This mission is not intended to replace that of the doctoral schools, which remain the preferred place for information, particularly of a disciplinary nature, or the Maison du doctorat, which brings together the central services related to the doctorate at the University of Paris-Saclay and is in charge of enrollment, cross-disciplinary training, and the defense process through to graduation.
It is also intended to complement the actions carried out by the teaching and research departments with students and pupils in pre-doctoral training. Their role is essential to obtain sound advice at the heart of the disciplines.
ENS Paris-Saclay doctoral students (or future doctoral students at the ENS or elsewhere) can also contact the ENS Paris-Saclay doctoral students' association (ADEPS) . They inform, advise and welcome, in a different and complementary way to the institutional channels.

University of Lille welcomes you for your PhD in recognized research teams integrated in the 6 doctoral schools of the region. Welcome !
The PhD is the highest degree recognized internationally. 3% of students in France are enrolled in PhD studies.
The PhD student is a young researcher in the training step. S/He develops a doctoral project followed by a thesis supervisor and organized by the graduate school. The PhD student is trained in research through research, that is to say by the professional experience acquired within a research lab. At the end of her/his research work and the writing of a manuscript, the PhD student presents his original scientific work during a defense in presence of a committee. The doctoral student is the only author and her/his manuscript is the subject of a legal deposit.
The PhD grants of the University of Lille are funding awarded to couples (subject, candidate) proposed by the candidates or laboratories and validated by the doctoral schools. Some grants may involve funding from the University, the Hauts-de-France Region, the ULNE I-Site, ADEME, CNRS, Inria, Inserm, ANR collaborative projects or European, etc. The salary is 1758 € gross / month in 2018. Some PhD students also arrive with their funding in the form of scholarships from their country. Activities complementary to research activities may be proposed with additional remuneration paid to granted PhD students. This supplement is calculated annually and paid monthly [ decree of August 29, 2016 ].
A thesis can be considered in collaboration between a laboratory and a company. This allows the PhD student to be immersed in two worlds to carry out her/his research work.
The CIFRE agreements make it possible to carry out a research project between the laboratory and a company. The PhD student spends part of her/his time on each side. The minimum wage is € 23,484 gross annual in 2017 (see the website http://www.anrt.asso.fr/ ).

Each year, nearly 400 young scientists are welcomed to a CEA laboratory to prepare a doctoral thesis in partnership with a doctoral school. As part of the preparation of a thesis, young scientists can benefit from different types of funding, which condition the kind of contract as well as the conditions to be met. Most of these contracts are for a three-year period. To facilitate the vocational integration of trained doctors into the CEA laboratories, INSTN offers training courses during the three years of the thesis.
