b. Find the dimensions of the entire figure. Answer: The side length of the square is 6 inches and then there is an additional 2 units below it so it can be said that the left and right side length of the given figure is 6 + 2 = 8 inches. The area is 72 square inches so this can be divided by the obtained side length to evaluate the width of the rectangle, therefore: \(\frac{72}{8}\) = 9 inches. The figure is a rectangle with a length of 8 inches and a width of 9 inches.
