Fortnite Essay Example

For the last several months, Fortnite has dominated popular culture and won the hearts and minds of countless youth and young adults, myself included. From the goofy emotes and cartoon graphics to the intense shootouts, there is a lot to enjoy about this game. At any given time of day or night, I can hop online and be thrown into the arena with ninety-nine other players, in a desperate attempt to loot, shoot, and build my way to victory. In a nerdy yet amusing way, I think the University of Maryland Baltimore County captured the excitement of this game perfectly when they described their upset over No. 1 seed Virginia as "like winning your first game of Fortnite" (Carroll).

Fortnite really is a game where you can jump into a random lobby and can have a conversation with during the times you do not get into a gunfight. You can talk about jokes, talk about (not really personal) personal things. It is a very interactive game and you can get many friends on it since most of the time you will find that your teammates want to win so they will communicate a lot of the time. The game helps you connect with others like me that hopefully enjoy this game when they play it.

Fortnite Offers Multiplayer and Solo Game

Fortnite is all about (outside of solos) working as a team or a partner. This game really is a much more enjoyable game when you play with others. The communication within the game is what makes battle royale games so competitive. A lot of the people talk and will tell you where the enemies are and deciding on whether attacking them or leaving them be. You can also call for help for your partner or teammates when you are in trouble. Losing one of the people makes it that much harder to win a game so they will 90% come to your rescue. This game is known for communication, especially if you watch the really good players that play with others they will be talking 95% of the time.

Epic games implemented into Fortnite what none of the other battle royale games do not give to you. That is building using resources. You can build wall, roofs, stairs, and platforms. You use these so you don't always have to depend on natural cover like a lot of the battle royale games force you to do. It gives a player a chance to prevent an ambush that you could not have escaped since you can't force yourself behind cover if you don't have any. By using your pickaxe and hitting trees, walls, floors, and buildings you gain resources which let you make your own cover. There are 3 resources in the game: wood, brick, and metal. The materials also can provide you with cover while you run towards the enemy to get a better shot with a close range gun or you can have a huge build off to see who is the better builder and who will build cover for themselves faster and who can gain the high ground faster. It is important that in a game like this you have high ground and that's what building provides.

Fortnite is a Free Game

The game is absolutely free. You do not have to pay anything to get it. You just go to the epic games website for pc or android. You can download it of the xbox or playstation store or the app store on an iphone. The game is incredibly popular because it is like ordering a game on maybe Gamefly to try it out, but normally you would have to ship it back after sometime and go to a game store or any store that sells games and buy it there for a full price. With this you can try out the game and if you like it you can keep it absolutely for free. You don't have to waste another $60 for a new game that is really popular. Of course there are in game purchases.

You knew this was coming, in game purchases. A lot of the games now offer that. You of course have every right to not have to buy anything. But the purchases of things like skins (costumes), pickaxe skins, glider that you use to jump out of the royale bus, dances, and the battle pass. The dances make the game more lively as this is a game it reminds you that it's not really meant to be taken seriously all the time. The costumes, pickaxes, and gliders are all to show that you are a fan of the game and like their cool little add ons each and every time. They might cost a little bit, but they are really cool. Besides you don't have to buy those things. Something you could consider buying is the battle pass. This gives you 7-8 skins, few pickaxes, dances, gliders, v bucks which is a virtual currency that you can save up and buy other skins that you like. 100 rewards all just for $10. That is really a great deal. Yes, unfortunately you do have to buy a new one every season, but you don't have to buy all of them. You can buy the ones you like and they are over a span of 3-4 months at a time. It really is a much more enjoyable game when you collect some rewards and get something new every time someone levels up.

There is really no big learning curve. The controls for Fortnite are pretty easy to learn, especially if you have experience playing any other first-person-shooter game. I don't consider myself an incredibly skilled gamer, but after only a few rounds of Fortnite, I felt I could hold my own. A lot of video games have over-complicated controls that can deter some beginner players from trying to learn the game, but that is not the case with Fortnite.

The game also has another game mode besides battle royale that you can purchase if you wanna play something else besides battle royale which is hectic basically all time. It is called save the world where you fortify yourself from zombies. This game mode is a game mode that you don't have to be on the edge of whatever you sit on all the time. This is a nice game mode which is a much more slower paced mode. It also has an interesting storyline along with rewards that you get. One of them is v bucks which can be used in the battle royale mode too. This game mode brings more of strategy of not just constant build offs but more off planning on how you are gonna protect the fort and not leave it so whatever it is you are defending does not get destroyed.

Fortnite is The Best Game Today

At the end of the day the reason why most people even play video games is to have fun. A three letter word is simply all it takes to describe the game. There are so many hilarious and cool things that you can do in this game and the developers really care about the community so they will constantly provide all us players of their game with content. A gamers plays games to have a few laughs, cool, and exciting moments. Games are meant to be played in a laid back fashion. Everyone has that reason that they play a game. It is to have fun and you will find a lot of that in fortnite. Sure you'll have bad days, but there are a lot more good day than bad. This game is played by millions for the same reason.

There is your introduction to why so many people play fortnite. It has teamwork, other features, in game purchases, builds new friendships, it's a free game, and it is really fun. I would encourage you to try this game out for yourself and see what you think. You don't have to take my word for it. Take the word from millions of people on youtube and people that play this game on a basis. Now it's up to you whether you'll play it or not. But, if you do end up playing just have fun and never forget that, that's what it's always about.

The Essay: At 13, I’ve Been Playing Fortnite For Four Years. Here’s Why I Still Love It

By Imani Brown

I have been playing Fortnite for four years and I still love it. Out of all that time playing, it has been a crazy journey. I was only nine years old when I started. Before I began playing, I wondered, What is this thing? I think one of the things that keeps me going are the seasons in the game. I was playing Season 4 in 2018 and the just started Chapter Three. The reason Epic divides the game into seasons is that, to me, each season is like a movie. That’s one thing I really love about it because I’m inside the movie that tells a story about an organization called IO that created this battle royale island using a nexus orb where all reality sprang from.

Then there’s the cubes, which seem to want to destroy the island you’re on. They’re presented in different colors and they can hurt players. Where I am now in the game, the cube is forming a type of Queen enemy character. But I’ve seen Naruto and Spider-Man added in the game, too. There is the new event for Chapter 3 of Fortnite and the Queen must be stopped from destroying the island. As far as history goes, The Cube is a mysterious object that appeared first on August 24, 2018, during Season 5. A blue cube and a gold cube appeared near a place called Paradise Palms. The blue cube landed on the earth that is Fortnite, spreading pieces of itself around. The purple one is bad and caused the world to change and be destroyed or flip over on the other side.

There are live events in Fortnite, wild ones, like the game was filled with zombie aliens and the map was broken into sections. It’s like the world always changes and there’s always something new to see or play. One my favorite events was the Travis Scott concert. It felt like it was almost real, except he was a giant flying or dancing in the fire or swimming under water or flying above us space. Travis Scott was in the game until the people were killed at the Astroworld concert. After those sad deaths, they took the Travis Scott emote out the game.

Fortnite has its own kind of myths. Season 4 was when the Ice King first landed and wanted to destroy the island. But the Fire King wanted to destroy it first. So they battled and when the Fire King won, he had to gather up power, trying to breed dragons while the environment (and the playable map) ended up getting destroyed. He even toppled Tilted Towers, a place to land and get guns, one of the older spots to land in Fortnite. Overall, these are big stories with rockets, laser beams, time travel, black holes and  master plans. I think that’s part of what makes me come back: these massive science fiction stories.

There’s so many ways to play! You can play as a creative warrior, a game mode where you can make your own Player Versus Player maps and edit a course map. There’s a lot of imagination involved here, parkour maps, even riffs on Squid Game.  Another game mode is Arena, a competitive game mode here you get Hype Points for the number of kills you get. Get enough of these and you can compete for cash. Of course, Fortnite is best known for its battle royale matches where 100 people are in the game and we have to fight people from all over the world. It seems simple: you collect guns and shields to protect yourself and you fight until the last person standing. You’ll find help like more health, medkits and bandages. It’s quick, exciting and you have to know where to hide and when to make your move.

Since Fortnite is free to play, Epic Games makes a lot of its money selling skins in the game. I like to go to the item shop and check out the new skins when they first come out. Naruto is my favorite skin in the game right now. I like the Aura skin with the Star Wand harvesting tool. You can hit enemies with the Star Wand, but it’s best used for whacking at materials like wood and other materials for building. With a Battle Pass that allows you to play for the full season, I get 100 special rewards. Fortnite is probably one of my favorite games because it keeps changing with new updates.

The thing is, Fortnite really means something to me. I have been wanting to play Fortnite competitively since the game came out. Now and then, I explain this to my family, saying, “This is something I really want to do.” But I have to take care when I stream because of the time I invest. I play about two to four hours at a time, but only on the weekends and maybe sometimes on Monday. I feel I want to give my life to working in games and playing professionally because this is something I love. I feel it in my bones. It’s my passion. But I know other things are important, too. I never play during school days. School is always first and never last. It’s important to get an education beyond the game.
