How to share your Google Slides presentation

share folder presentation

Wondering how to share a Google Slides presentation? Good news! It’s a pretty simple process. There are multiple ways of sharing a Google Slides deck. The right method for you will depend on how you’re going to deliver the slides, the required file type, and your audience. Do you want to share so that a colleague can proof-read and edit, or so that an online audience has the virtual equivalent of a handout?

As Google Slides exists completely online, sharing your presentation with others isn’t limited to an email attachment. This post will show you how to share Google Slides presentations in five ways, there’s definitely something here to meet your needs!

Share with people and groups

Publish to the web

Download as different file type

Email as attachment

Before we get to that, you need to know where to find the Share function in Google Slides.

  • Open Google Slides and click File , in the top bar
  • Click Share at the top of the drop-down menu

share folder presentation

  • Or, click Share at the top right-hand side of your window.

1. How to share Google Slides presentations with people and groups

Using Share with people and groups , you can share your Google Slides presentation with multiple people at once. This is helpful if your teammates need to collaborate in the same deck or if you require feedback from a colleague or client. Share with people and groups allows you to change the editing permissions per contact. You can allow each contact to simply view the document, or add comments, or edit it themselves. The level of permission you choose can be different for each contact you share with, giving you a lot of flexibility.

  • Click Share to bring up the Share with people and groups pane.
  • Next to Add people and groups , start typing the name or email address of the contact you want to share the deck with. A list of recommendations will appear as you type. Once you’ve selected the right contact, their name will appear at the top of the pane. If the person you want to share with is not already in your contact list, you need to type in their full email address.
  • Click the small cross next to a contact name to deselect the contact.

When you share using Share with people and groups , Google will ask the user to log in to their Google account to access your shared file. If the user does not have a Google account, they will be unable to access your deck. Just head to the next section to find out how to grant access to non-Google users.

Now you’ve chosen your contact, you can alter their permissions to change how they are able to interact with the deck. There are three options – Viewer , Commenter , and Editor . Simply click on the option currently visible and a drop-down menu will appear allowing you to choose whether your contact can… well… view, comment on or edit the deck. Pretty self-explanatory, right?

But which permission should you give to who and when?

  • Viewer: This will prevent contacts from editing slides. If your deck is completely finished and approved, set the permissions to Viewer to stop contacts accidentally editing – or even deleting – slides from your finished presentation!
  • Commenter: The best option for gathering feedback. If your contact has limited knowledge of Google Slides, direct them towards our handy Ultimate Guide to Google Slides post so that they can brush up! In the meantime, share your deck using the Commenter function. This way, contacts can comment without being able to rearrange slides, or change text or animations.
  • Editor: Perfect for collaborative projects. Editor allows you to share an editable version of your deck. Everyone with this permission can work on the same slides at the same time. This means you don’t end up with multiple versions of the same deck.

For more tips on how to improve collaboration in Google Slides, check out these 6 ways to get the most out of online collaboration with Google Slides .

Once you’ve selected one of these permission options, you’re free to hit Send . If you tick Notify people , your contact will receive an email letting them know that they have permission to access or interact with your deck.

share folder presentation

In the Share with people and groups pane, the owner of the Google Slides presentation appears at the top. Beneath that, you can see who has access to the deck and the status of their permissions. If you want to change someone’s permissions, press the yellow Share button at any time and edit permissions using the same drop-down menu.

To stop sharing with a specific person:

  • Click Share and scroll to the contact you want to remove
  • Click the drop-down arrow next to their name
  • Select Remove
  • Click Save .

Notice the Give temporary access and Make owner options. If you choose to Give temporary access , you can edit the number of days that your contact has access to your deck. All you have to do is click the number of days next to Access expires to change the expiration date. This can be a great option if you’re working with people outside of your organization, such as clients or agencies. For example, you can schedule the expiration date for the end of a project, once the feedback has been received and the work completed.

Make owner allows you to pass ownership of the deck to another user. After you’ve created a presentation you might need to hand it over, to the presenter for example. You can use this option to give someone else complete control. Use it with caution, however. Once you’ve handed over ownership, you cannot retrieve it – unless the new owner hands it back or chooses to grant you access permissions.

Top tip: If you’re the owner of the deck (if you have created it yourself or have been given ownership by the original creator), there are further sharing options. When you click Share , you’ll notice a cog appears in the top right-hand corner pop up. This allows you to choose whether your Editors can change permissions and share or if Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy. All you have to do is tick or untick the box. Easy!

2. How to share a Google Slides presentation via a link

In this window you can also get a link.

  • Click the blue Copy link button.
  • Paste the link anywhere, from an email draft to a Microsoft Teams chat

This link will only work for people who have been given permission to view, edit or comment on the deck. To change this:

  • Click Share
  • In the Get link section, press Change .
  • Choose whether your deck is Restricted or if Anyone with the link can view. Note: when you change a link’s setting to Restricted , the only people who can still see the deck are those you have directly shared with in the Share with people and groups section.

share folder presentation

Though the Anyone with link function can be useful, it’s not the most secure option. Remember: the users that you originally shared the link with can continue to share the link with their friends, colleagues, and contacts too, meaning your presentation can be shared endlessly and with anyone! If your deck contains confidential content, you should not use this method.

3. How to publish a Google Slides presentation to the web

If you don’t want your viewers to edit your deck, then Share with groups and people may not be the option for you. Instead, choose to Publish to the web . With this option, your deck becomes non-editable, it will simply play as if your deck was a video; auto-advancing through the slides. This means that the viewer won’t have control over which slides they view or the order they view them in. The content of your slides will be visible to anyone and everyone when publishing to the web, so be careful about choosing this option if your slides contain confidential information.

  • Click  File
  • Select Publish to the web
  • Choose Link or Embed. You can share the URL with your contacts, or you can embed the link on a website or blog
  • Choose how your slides playback using the drop-down menu beneath Auto-advance slides
  • Click Publish
  • Copy the URL or HTML and share your deck

share folder presentation

4. How to download a Google Slides deck as different file type

Another method of sharing (or saving) your slides involves downloading the deck as a different type of file.

  • Under File select Download .
  • Select the format you need (Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF Document (.pdf), or JPEG Image (.jpeg)), and the download will begin.
  • Open your file

While there are many formats available, we don’t recommend all of them. For example, when downloading as an Image, whether PNG or JPEG, the quality of your slides can be lost, the presentation will be static, and you can only download one slide at a time. If you’re printing or emailing your deck, downloading as a PDF is the best option to get a static version of your slides.

Since PowerPoint is the closest option to Slides, this format retains the presentability of the deck. However, there’s a chance that your content will corrupt or break as not all features are transferable between file formats. Check for any changes and make tweaks – like removing animations – before sending your presentation to your contacts. 5. How to email your Google Slides presentations as an attachment

If all these sharing options still aren’t quite cutting it, there’s one more! To share your slides via email:

  • Select Email as attachment
  • Type the name or email address of your contact
  • Pick the file type your deck
  • Add a message, then hit Send

What is the name of piece that I attach to my chromebook that allows me to present Google slides

Hi Milton. I’m not sure what you mean – could you please clarify?

Hello, My PowerPoint contains an audio file. I uploaded it to Google Sites (new) and there’s no audio. So I uploaded my PowerPoint to Google Slides and inserted that into my Google portfolio Site hoping that would fix the problem. It didn’t. Can you tell me how to get the audio file to upload to my portfolio site, along with my slides? Thank you! Pam

Hi, I am looking for a way to have Google slides running on a laptop or tablet and instead of the presentation going to a screen, to go live i.e. as it would on a projecter in a URL that I can tell people about, so they can use it with their mobile phones, tablets etc. The sort of application would be for Carol singing, each slide would have no more than two lines to allow for large type and as it goes through the verses it shows on singers devices, one slide at a time. This of course would be outside, i.e. people would at best use mobile data, or if it would work for a larger number by wifi tethering (wifi provided by 1phone/tablet. Thank you, Sam

How to share your Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on a Mac, PC, or web browser

  • It's easy to share a PowerPoint presentation on your Mac or PC app.
  • You can also share a presentation if you use the online version of PowerPoint.
  • Sharing a presentation can help you collaborate with friends or coworkers.
  • Visit Business Insider's Tech Reference library for more stories .

When creating Microsoft PowerPoint presentations for work or school, it's often necessary to collaborate with others on your projects.

Thankfully, it's easy to share a PowerPoint presentation no matter what version you use. The process looks fairly similar on both Mac and PC programs, as well as on the online version that can be accessed from any web browser. The online option is helpful if you don't have the Microsoft Office program downloaded to your desktop.

For all of these options, you can add a collaborator (which operates similarly to sharing Google Slides ) or opt to send your file as a presentation or PDF via email. There are also alternative methods, such as sending via social media.

Here's how to share a presentation.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

Apple macbook pro (from $1,299.00 at apple), acer chromebook 15 (from $179.99 at walmart), microsoft office (from $149.99 at best buy), samsung chromebook (from $269.00 at amazon), how to share a powerpoint presentation on a pc.

Sharing a presentation on the PC version of PowerPoint should look similar on most computer types. The following steps and accompanying photos detail the process on a Samsung Chromebook.

1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you wish to share on your PC.

2. Click the "Share" symbol in the upper right hand corner of the screen. This should give you the option to share either the full document or just the current slide.

  • If you prefer to add a collaborator instead (similar to Google Slides functions), you will need to click the orange button to save a copy of the file to your OneDrive.

3. Choose how you'd like to share the document or slide as an attachment. You can choose to send an email via Outlook or as a message via Zoom, for example.

Additionally, when you first launch the program, you can also find a "Share" tab on the left hand side. This will provide you with the same options for sharing a file.

How to share a PowerPoint Presentation on a Mac

1. Open the PowerPoint presentation on your Mac desktop or laptop.

2. Click the "File" tab in the top left corner.

3. Select "Share" from the dropdown menu. This will grant you the option to either send or copy a link to share, send the file as a presentation or PDF, or manage access to a shared file. Select whichever option you'd like and follow the directions to add contact information.

  • If you wish to manage access and add collaborators, you will have to make sure the file has been uploaded to your OneDrive before proceeding. (If it hasn't, PowerPoint should prompt you to do so at this time.)

4. Sending the file as an email is the most common choice. Selecting this option will automatically open a new draft with the file attached. (Be sure to select "Send PDF" if you'd prefer it to send as a PDF file instead of as a presentation.) Add an address, subject, and body text before sending.

You can also share a presentation by clicking the "Share" button in the upper right hand corner. (This is similar to how it appears on a PC.)

This option is extremely helpful as it provides all of your possible options in a single pop-up. Enter a name or email address (along with an optional message) to send the document.

You can change the permissions settings at the top before clicking "Send," "Copy Link," or "Mail" to share your work. Click "More Apps" to browse additional options, such as sending via social media or text message. Lastly, you can select "Send a Copy" to send as a traditional attachment.

How to share a PowerPoint presentation on a web browser

You can access PowerPoint online on either a Mac or PC, as long as you have your login information for Microsoft Office. Regardless of what browser you prefer to use, the steps to share a presentation are exactly the same.

1. Log in to your Microsoft Office account on your preferred web browser and open the presentation you wish to share.

2. Click the "Share" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

3. This will open a pop-up in the center of the page. Enter a name or email address (along with an optional message) to send the document. You can change the permissions settings at the top before sending the link by clicking the "Send" or "Copy Link" option. (Those who have followed these steps on a Mac will recognize that it looks similar.)

Additionally, when you open the main menu, you can click the "Share" tab on the left hand side. This will allow you to invite others to edit the presentation or embed the presentation for a blog or website.

If you are looking to embed online, this will open a different pop-up that will generate a code for you. Select the dimensions desired and then paste the text as needed. Click the "Close" or "X" buttons to minimize the window.

Sharing a Presentation

About this lesson

In this final lesson, we will learn how to share a copy or a link to a presentation with others and control if colleagues can edit or simply view it.

Exercise files

Download the ‘before’ and ‘after’ PowerPoint presentations from the video tutorial and try the lesson yourself.

Quick reference

The ability to collaborate on files in real-time is so important. To do this, we need to know how to share our presentation with others in our team or maybe even clients and customers. We can choose to share a link or a copy. If we share a link, the recipients will be working on the original server copy of the file. If we share a copy, they will be working on a copy and the original will remain unaffected.

When to use

Share files whenever you want to colloborate on a presentation with others.

Instructions

Share a link.

When we share a link, the recipient is invited to edit the original server copy of the presentation. To share a link to a presentation, the file must be saved in a shared location e.g. OneDrive.

  • In the top right-hand corner, click Share .
  • Or, from the File tab, click Share .
  • The default is to share a link.
  • Click the arrow next to Anyone with link can edit to see more options.
  • To limit access to view only, remove the tick from the Allow Editing box.
  • To set an Expiration Date  for the link, choose a date from the date picker.
  • To restrict access, click Set a password .
  • Click Apply .
  • Type the recipients email address into the field provided.
  • Type a message (optional).
  • Click Send .

Create a Shareable Link

Alternatively, we can create a shareable link and paste it into an email or an application like Teams.

  • Click Copy Link .
  • A shareable link will be created.
  • Click Copy .
  • Open another application and Paste the link.

Send a Copy

Sending a copy is different to sending a link. When we send a copy, the recipients will be making changes on a copy of the file not the original file. This means that the original will remain unaffected by any subsequent changes to the copy.

  • Click Send a copy .
  • Choose PowerPoint presentation or PDF .

Manage Access

Once we have shared a file with others, we can manage their access.

  • Click the three dots  in the top right-hand corner.
  • Select Manage access .
  • Choose a recipient.
  • Select Change to view only  to remove edit access.
  • Or, select Stop sharing  to remove access to the presentation completely.

Hints & tips

  • When sending a link to many people, such as the entire organisation, its better to create a shareable link and paste it into an email.
  • Ensure the file is saved to a shared location like a network drive or cloud storage.
  • 00:04 It's time to celebrate.
  • 00:05 We have made it down to the final lesson in this course.
  • 00:10 And the final thing that we're going to do is we're going to see how we can share
  • 00:14 our beautiful presentation with other people.
  • 00:17 Now I would always advise that before you do share this presentation you give it one
  • 00:22 final check over.
  • 00:23 You want to make sure that you don't have any spelling errors.
  • 00:26 You might also want to review any comments that you've added into your presentation
  • 00:31 in case any of them need to be removed.
  • 00:33 Also run through your presentation as the recipient is going to view it.
  • 00:37 And just check to make sure that there is no lag, and all of the animations and
  • 00:42 transitions are working correctly and smoothly.
  • 00:46 And of course, if you don't want anybody to change this presentation,
  • 00:49 make sure that you've applied one of those protection options.
  • 00:53 If you've gone through all of that, and you're absolutely certain that you want
  • 00:56 to share this file, there are a couple of different ways that you can do this.
  • 01:00 But all paths lead to the same place.
  • 01:03 The first way that we can share a presentation is by using the share button
  • 01:07 in the top right-hand corner.
  • 01:09 The second way we can share our presentation is by clicking on the File
  • 01:13 tab and choosing the Share page.
  • 01:16 Now both of these options basically take you to this little send link window.
  • 01:21 Now there's a couple of things you need to know when it comes to sharing files.
  • 01:25 The first thing is that in order to share this,
  • 01:27 you need to make sure you've saved your presentation to a shareable location.
  • 01:32 So that needs to be something like a OneDrive cloud storage or
  • 01:36 maybe a Network Drive.
  • 01:38 If you just have this saved to your PC, then your only real option when
  • 01:43 it comes to sharing is to send it as an email attachment,
  • 01:46 which these days is a little bit old school.
  • 01:49 Now I have all of my files save to OneDrive cloud storage.
  • 01:53 So now I can choose if I want to send a link or send a copy of this file.
  • 01:59 Now you might be wondering to yourself, well,
  • 02:01 what is the difference between a link and a copy?
  • 02:04 When you send a link, you basically create an email that has
  • 02:08 a hyperlink essentially back to this original document.
  • 02:12 So anybody that you send this link to can click on that link, and
  • 02:16 any changes they make will be based on the original server copy of the presentation.
  • 02:22 Where as if you send a copy any changes the recipient makes won't affect
  • 02:27 the original copy.
  • 02:29 So it means that if they make changes that you need to see and maybe integrate into
  • 02:33 your PowerPoint presentation, they'll have to send the copy back to you.
  • 02:37 And then you'll need to merge those changes together.
  • 02:40 I'm going off on a bit of a tangent there.
  • 02:42 So I'm going to rein myself back in and just focus on sharing.
  • 02:46 So for this example, I'm going to send a link.
  • 02:50 And you can see that sending a link is basically the default option.
  • 02:53 Now currently, mine is set to anyone with the link can edit.
  • 02:57 Now if I want to change that I can click on this and
  • 03:00 remove the tick from this little allow editing checkbox.
  • 03:05 If I do that, it means that when I send the link, the recipient is only going to
  • 03:09 be able to view my PowerPoint presentation and not make any changes.
  • 03:14 Now I want them to be able to edit.
  • 03:15 So I'm going to put the tick back in that box.
  • 03:18 You can also do things in here like set an expiration date for this link.
  • 03:22 So maybe you need your colleagues' feedback by next Tuesday.
  • 03:27 So you might want to set this link to expire so that anytime after next
  • 03:31 Tuesday's date, they're basically going to lose access to this particular file.
  • 03:36 And then finally, if you want to add an extra layer of security, you could set
  • 03:41 a password so that they need to type that in before they can make any changes.
  • 03:46 Now, I'm not going to do that I'm just going to say, Apply.
  • 03:49 And now I can enter in the email addresses of the people that I want to share this
  • 03:53 link with.
  • 03:54 So I'm basically sharing this with three other team members.
  • 03:58 I can add a little message in here.
  • 04:00 And then all I need to do is click the Send button.
  • 04:03 Now when I click this button, it's basically going to create an email in my
  • 04:07 default email application, which for me is Outlook.
  • 04:11 It's going to put a link to this particular presentation in that email
  • 04:15 witch the recipients can then click on and start to make their changes.
  • 04:19 Now if I decide that I want to send a copy of this presentation as opposed to a link,
  • 04:24 I have a copy link button just here.
  • 04:27 And what this does is PowerPoint going to create what it calls a shareable link.
  • 04:31 If I click the Copy button that's basically going to do a Ctrl C of this
  • 04:36 particular link.
  • 04:37 And I can then open up an email in Outlook, or another mail application,
  • 04:42 or even paste this link into something like teams or slack, and
  • 04:46 share it with my colleagues that way.
  • 04:49 And an even quicker way of doing that is to click this Outlook button.
  • 04:53 And you can see here it's created a new Outlook email for
  • 04:56 me with that link contained within.
  • 04:59 I can then address this to whoever I want to send it to type in a message,
  • 05:03 click on Send, and away it goes.
  • 05:05 And then finally at the bottom here, I can choose if I want to send a copy of this
  • 05:10 PowerPoint presentation, or a PDF file.
  • 05:12 So I could at this stage, convert it to a PDF and then send that through instead.
  • 05:17 Now another thing that's worth noting here is that when you have shared your
  • 05:21 PowerPoint presentation,
  • 05:22 you can manage people's access by clicking on these three dots.
  • 05:26 Let's jump into manage access, and
  • 05:28 you'll be able to see exactly who you shared this particular presentation with.
  • 05:33 So you can see here, Adriana, Dasha, and Jen, and
  • 05:37 all three of these people can edit.
  • 05:40 Maybe if I want to change their access or even remove access entirely, if I click
  • 05:45 the drop down, I can change to view only access for this particular person.
  • 05:50 Or I can say I want to stop sharing this document with Adriana.
  • 05:54 It updates the permissions and she's now been removed.
  • 05:57 So if she has the link already, now that I've removed her access,
  • 06:01 when she clicks on that link she's going to get an error message.
  • 06:04 So that is pretty much all there is to sharing.
  • 06:07 That is the end of this lesson and the end of this course.
  • 06:11 All that's left for me to do now is tidy up a few loose ends and say my goodbyes.
  • 06:16 And I'll be doing exactly that in the final lesson.

How-To Geek

How to collaborate on a microsoft powerpoint presentation.

Need to collaborate with others on a PowerPoint presentation? There are a lot of tools in the program that make it easy.

Quick Links

Sharing a presentation, collaborating on a presentation.

PowerPoint has some useful features that allow others to make edits or leave feedback on your presentations. You can even coauthor a presentation in real time if you have a  Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) subscription. Here’s how to collaborate with others in PowerPoint.

Before others can work on a presentation with you, you have to share it with them . To do so, open the presentation you want to share, and then click "Share" in the top-right corner.

Related: How to Share Things from OneDrive

A banner will appear in front of your presentation. The first thing to note is the "Share" section. Here, you’ll see the two methods for sharing the presentation, and anyone with whom you've already shared it.

With the "Invite People" method of sharing, you can do the following:

  • Type the email addresses of those with whom you’d like to collaborate.
  • Leave a note for the recipients.
  • Assign Read and Write or Read-Only permissions.
  • As an extra layer of security, select whether you want recipients to have a Microsoft account .
  • Share your presentation.

If you choose the "Get a Link" option instead, assign Read/Write or Read-Only permissions to whoever receives the link, and then click "Create Link."

Your link will appear.

Once your link has been created, you can share it with whoever you want to collaborate with on your presentation. Keep in mind that anyone who has this link can access your presentation with the privileges you’ve assigned, so be careful who you share it with.

Once you’ve shared your presentation, it’s time to start collaborating. There are several useful tools that make collaboration more efficient. We'll go over them below, so be sure to take full advantage of them.

Who’s Working Where?

PowerPoint shows you who is currently viewing or editing a presentation, as well as which part of it they're working on. When someone's working on a presentation with you, you'll see a thumbnail with that person's name in the top-right corner.

Click the thumbnail to see who it is and which slide he or she is editing. If you want to go to that slide, click "Go to Location."

You'll see the section of the slide on which the other person is working.

You can also see where the other person is at any time in the slide thumbnail view on the left.

Leave Comments for Others

You can also leave comments for the other people you're collaborating with to read at their convenience. To leave a comment, highlight text or an object, and then click "New Comment" in the menu that appears.

Type your comment in the text box, and then click the Arrow icon to leave it.

The next time this person is working on the presentation, she'll see a Message Bubble icon on the slide that contains the comment.

To read a comment, click "Comments" in the top-right corner.

To reply to a comment, just type your response in the text box, and then click the Arrow icon.

Premium Features

PowerPoint also has a few premium features available for collaborators. One of these is real-time chat. Just click the thumbnail of the person you want to chat with, and then select "Chat" from the menu that appears.

This isn't a good replacement for comments, though. No one else can see your chat, and it's deleted as soon as you close the file.

Related: How to Get Microsoft Office for Free

Another neat premium feature is version history. PowerPoint 365 stores every version of your slideshow. This means you can go back and view, restore, and/or download older versions it.

To access this feature, click "File," click "Info" in the pane that appears, and then choose "Previous Versions." This option will be grayed out if you aren't a premium subscriber, though.

Overall, good collaboration on any project boils down to communication. PowerPoint makes this easy for both normal and premium subscribers, although some methods are more streamlined than others.

Share files with your site collaborators

  • To ensure files embedded in sites are accessible to all site collaborators and viewers, you must share file access with them when you publish a site. You can update sharing permissions when you embed a file, publish, or share a site.

Collect feedback with Google Forms

  • If you need to gather a lot of information, create a Google Form . Responses will be recorded in a Google Sheet. Give edit access only to people who need to work with the responses. To let more than 100 people open the responses, publish the spreadsheet to the web and create a link to share to people with access. Learn how to publish a file .

Fix problems with documents shared with many people

If your document is shared with many people and it’s crashing or not updating quickly, try these troubleshooting tips:

  • Instead of allowing people to comment on a document or spreadsheet, create a Google Form to collect feedback. Learn how to create a Google Form .
  • If you’re making a copy of a document, don’t include resolved comments and suggestions. Learn how to make a copy .
  • Delete older information or move data into a new document.
  • Ask people with access to close the document when they aren’t using it.
  • Include only the most important information in a published document. Shorter documents load faster.
  • Reduce the amount of people with edit access to a document.
  • If collecting information from multiple documents, create a new, access-only document to share with a large number of people.

Limit how a file is shared

When you share a file with someone, you can choose their access level:

  • Viewer: People can access, but can’t change or share the file with others.
  • Commenter: People can make comments and suggestions, but can’t change or share the file with others.
  • Editor: People can make changes, accept or reject suggestions, and share the file with others.

You can allow broad access to your file. These options depend on if your Google Account is through work, school, or Gmail.

  • Public: Anyone can search on Google and get access to your file, without signing in to their Google Account.
  • Anyone with the link: Anyone who has the link can use your file, without signing in to their Google Account.
  • Restricted: Only people with access can open the file.

How to Share Presentations: 5 Apps and Tricks to Publish Slides Online

best-apps-share-presentation primary img

Documents get printed, websites get published, spreadsheets get filed away for accountants to double-check later. Presentations, though, get presented. After all the time you spend making slides in PowerPoint, Keynote, or other presentation apps, often you only show those slides during a meeting or talk, then save them in case you give that talk again.

Your slides can do the same for your business. Here are the best ways to get extra results from your presentation by putting it online.

→ Need an app to make that presentation? Jump over to our Best Presentation Apps roundup for 13 tools to make a full presentation in minutes, then come back here to learn how to share it.

The Simple Option: Embed Presentations From Your Presentation App

Google Slides Embed

The easiest way to share a presentation is with your presentation app’s built-in sharing and embed tools, something that comes with most online presentation apps today including Google Slides , PowerPoint Online , Keynote , Zoho Slides , Slides , Prezi , Microsoft Sway , Adobe Spark , Canva , Swipe , and Slidebean . Typically, these apps let you copy a sharing link from your presentation to let others view your presentation in that app online. Or, you can copy embed code to put an interactive version of your presentation in your blog or website, much like embedding a YouTube video in a page.

Tip : Deskset and Evernote Presentation Mode don’t include embeds, but you can export your presentation as a PDF, then embed it online using any of the tools below.

Another option is to stream your presentation during your talk, something Keynote Live , Zoho Show Broadcast , Slides Present Live , and Slidebean Live Mode all offer from their apps. Those tools stream your presentation in real-time and give you a link to share so viewer can watch on their own devices. Flip to the next slide in your deck, and everyone will see the new slide along with your online audience. Zoho Slides includes a chat panel for audience feedback, and Slidebean has an option to let the audience help control the slides for a multi-presenter presentation.

PowerPoint Office Presentation Service also lets you stream a PowerPoint presentation online through PowerPoint’s Windows apps—though not its web, mobile or Mac apps. Google Slides’ Hangouts On Air integration lets you stream a Google Slides presentation through YouTube, and here you could include audio from your presentation too. That option could work for any presentation app as long as you use Hangouts’ option to show your desktop.

Either way, you’ll need to promote the presentation yourself. These tools are a great option if you already have a popular blog and want to embed a copy of your presentation in it along with your own presentation notes.

The Social Option: Three Apps to Share Presentations

alt

Sharing a link to your presentation or embedding it in your site is a great way to let your followers know about your talk. Want to reach new people? Presentation sharing apps are the better option. They’re social networks built around presentations, for an easier way both to publish your presentation and help people find it.

Save a copy of your presentation in PowerPoint or PDF format. Then upload your presentation file to one of these apps, and add a name, description, category, and other details. You can then share a link to your presentation or embed it on your site, as with online presentation apps. Best of all, your presentation will now be publicly visible online, and should get new visitors through Google and search inside that presentation app. That makes your presentation a way to share your ideas with a far wider audience who might not otherwise have found your presentation on your blog.

Here are the best options from ten tools we’ve tried:

For clipping favorite slides from popular presentations

Slideshare upload options

SlideShare is the most popular way to share slides online. As part of Microsoft’s LinkedIn professional social network, publishing your presentation on SlideShare is another way to fill out your business profile. You’ll get a profile page on SlideShare with each presentation you’ve shared where people can follow you to get notified every time you publish a new presentation. And you can add presentations to your LinkedIn profile, alongside your job and education history.

You can upload a PDF or PowerPoint file to SlideShare, then add a description, category, and tags to help people discover it—along with additional presentation files or YouTube videos if you want. SlideShare will automatically copy the text out of your slides and include them under it to help your presentation show up in search results. You can also add links to slides, to send viewers to your website. Then, anyone who views your presentation can click through it online, download a PDF copy, or add a comment.

SlideShare includes one other handy tool: A Clip Slide button on presentations so you can save slides you like to your own collection. That’s a great way to build a library of inspiration from other presentations you find on SlideShare, with quotes and ideas you could then reference in your future presentations.

Speaker Deck

For a presentation-focused landing page

Speaker Deck upload options

Speaker Deck is a simpler slide sharing tool, Vimeo to SlideShare’s YouTube. Share a presentation, and Speaker Deck will show it full-width in a preview page that focused on just your slides. Scroll down to see your presentation description, with a download button to save a PDF copy of the presentation if you’d like. And at the very bottom, you’ll find related presentations from Speaker Deck’s collection of featured presentations in the same category as your own.

You can’t search through Speaker Deck’s library of presentations, though you can look through them by category, with newer presentations showed first. Hover your mouse over a presentation thumbnail and move it from left to right to quickly peek at each of the slides. Then, if you want to embed your presentation in your site, add your presentation link to Embedly’s Speaker Deck site and copy its embed code. It’s a tad more hassle, but you get an ad-free page for your presentation that’s far more focused on your slides than what other sites offer.

For embedding specific slides from a presentation

Scribd embed options screenshot

Scribd is designed for sharing PDF files, and today is mainly focused on a subscription eBook library, with everything from popular best sellers to self-published books to user guides and other free PDF uploads. That vast library means it’s a popular place to search for content—and if you publish your presentation there, it might get discovered when people search for what you talked about.

The best reason to share your presentation on Scribd, though, is that its Embed tool offers far more options. Use the Autosize embed option to match the embed to your slide size, then on down the embed page under Options , choose the Slideshow style to let viewers click between slides (with the default Scroll option, they’ll need to scroll down as in a PDF file to view next slides). You can also set which page—or slide—to show first, if you’d like to embed different parts of your presentation in separate blog posts, perhaps.

Scribd Price: Free to publish and view free content; subscription from $9.99/month to read unlimited paid eBooks

The Streaming Option: Present Your Slides Online in Real Time

Want to present online in real-time, where people can follow your presentation online during your talk? That’s another way to build buzz around your talk and expand your audience. Even if your presentation app doesn’t include a streaming tool, there are other options.

One way is to run a webinar, using Hangouts (as Google Slides offers for its streaming slides), GoToWebinar, Zoom, or other popular video streaming services. With those tools, you’d start a webinar stream, open your presentation in your normal presentation app, then share your screen using the webinar app’s screen share option. That will give you a full video of your talk, complete with audio and your slides. Check out our roundup of the best webinar apps to find the perfect tool for your next talk.

Or, you could use an app designed around streaming presentations—essentially standalone versions of the built-in streaming tools in Keynote and Zoho Slides. Here are two great options.

For a live stream of your slides with polls and videos

Presentain screenshot

For the closest alternative to the built-in streaming in presentation apps, Presentain lets you upload your presentation, present it, and stream the presentation in real-time to anyone with the link or embed. It’s best for letting people in the audience view your slides on their own device while you’re presenting. You can add animations to your slides online and use the web app to show the presentation on a projector—and to copy a link to share the live presentation with followers.

Then use the Presentain mobile app to start the presentation, switch slides, add polls where your audience can share their thoughts in real-time, and play YouTube videos embedded in your presentation. When you’re done, you can see stats about your presentation and polls online and save your presentation, upgrading your account only on the days you need to stream presentations.

Presentain Price: from $3 for one day of streaming unlimited presentations, so you can purchase a plan only for the days you’re presenting

SlidePresenter

For making a video of your full presentation

SlidePresenter

Want a full video of your presentation, complete with your slides, a video of you talking, and your audio? SlidePresenter is the app you need. Using its web app (which requires Flash or a recent version of Google Chrome), start by uploading your slides. Then enable your camera and microphone and start the presentation online, talking through your slides and pressing arrow keys to switch slides. Press your space bar when finished, and SlidePresenter will save a video of your talk that you can share online.

You could use it to record your talk while you’re giving it, but SlidePresenter is best to make a separate copy of your talk for your online audience. It’s an easy way to make a webinar of your presentation to share anytime.

SlidePresenter Price: Free 14 day trial

Next time you give a presentation, don’t save the file in your Documents folder and forget about it. Instead, using your presentation apps’ built-in sharing tools or one of these services, your presentation can be as valuable as a new video or blog post for your company with almost no extra work. It’s a great way to get the most out of your presentation efforts.

3 Ways to Share a PowerPoint on Google Drive

share folder presentation

Google Drive is a popular cloud storage platform that makes it easy to store, access, and collaborate on files. One of the most common files people may want to share on Google Drive is PowerPoint presentations. There are a few simple ways to upload and share PowerPoint files on Google Drive.

1. Upload the PowerPoint File to Google Drive

The first step is to upload your PowerPoint presentation to your Google Drive account:

  • Go to drive.google.com and log into your Google account.
  • Click on the New button and select File Upload .
  • Find and select your PowerPoint file on your computer.
  • Google Drive will upload the file. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of the file and your internet connection speed.

Once uploaded, the PowerPoint file will appear in your Google Drive account.

2. Share the Uploaded PowerPoint File

Now that the file is uploaded to Google Drive, you can share it with others:

  • Right-click on the PowerPoint file in your Google Drive.
  • Select Share .
  • You can share the file with individual people by entering their email addresses.
  • Or you can get a shareable link and send that to anyone.
  • Choose whether you want people to be able to edit the file or just view it.
  • Click Send or Save .

The people you shared with will receive an email with the presentation attached or with a link to view or edit it on Google Drive.

3. Convert the PowerPoint to Google Slides

Another option is to convert your PowerPoint presentation to a Google Slides presentation within Google Drive:

  • Right-click on the PowerPoint file in Google Drive.
  • Hover over Open with and select Google Slides .
  • The PowerPoint will open as a Google Slides presentation that is editable.
  • Go to File > Save as Google Slides to save a copy of the presentation natively in Google Slides.
  • Share the Google Slides presentation with others just like in the step above.

The benefit of this method is that Google Slides allows for easier real-time collaboration than PowerPoint. Multiple people can edit the presentation at once with changes appearing for everyone immediately.

Benefits of Sharing Presentations on Google Drive

There are many benefits of storing your PowerPoint presentations on Google Drive and sharing them from there:

  • Accessibility – You can access your presentations from anywhere on any device by logging into your Google Drive account.
  • Collaboration – It’s easy to collaborate with others on presentations in real-time within Google Drive.
  • Version history – Drive saves a history of changes so you can see previous versions or revert back if needed.
  • Security – Files and sharing permissions are secure.
  • Integration – Google Drive integrates seamlessly with Google’s other apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail and more.

Adjust Share Settings and Permissions

When sharing a presentation file on Google Drive, you can adjust the permissions to control what recipients can do with the file.

Common share settings include:

  • Can view – Recipients can view the presentation but cannot edit or share it.
  • Can comment – Recipients can view and add comments but cannot edit the original presentation.
  • Can edit – Recipients have full editing rights and can make changes to the presentation.

To edit share settings on Google Drive:

  • Right-click on the shared file and select Share .
  • Click the dropdown menu beside individual names.
  • Choose Can view , Can comment , or Can edit .
  • Click Save .

You can update these settings anytime. It’s a good idea to limit editing access when relevant to avoid overlapping changes.

Share PowerPoints Securely with Specific People

When sharing sensitive presentations, you may only want certain people to view or edit them. Google Drive allows secure sharing with specific people in a few ways:

  • Share only with people within your organization rather than making files public.
  • Double check email addresses entered for sharing to make sure the right people have access.
  • Turn link sharing off and only allow direct access to approved email addresses.
  • Set expiration dates so access is revoked after a certain date.
  • Adjust permissions levels (view, comment, edit) for finer control over what recipients can do.

Collaborate on PowerPoints in Real-Time

A key benefit of using Google Drive for presentations is the ability for multiple people to collaborate easily:

  • With Google Slides , others can edit the presentation at the same time and see changes in real-time.
  • Use the built-in commenting feature to give feedback or ask questions on specific slides.
  • The version history shows incremental changes and who made them.
  • Chat with collaborators in real-time without leaving the presentation.

This level of collaboration can speed up work and decision making on presentations significantly. Rather than emailing versions back and forth, everything happens in one place.

Generate Shareable Links for Presentations

To share a presentation with someone who doesn’t have a Google account or access to your Google Drive, you can create a shareable link:

  • Upload your PowerPoint to Google Drive.
  • Right-click it and select Get shareable link .
  • You can also set an expiration date/time if needed.
  • Copy the link and send it to anyone you want to view the presentation.

When people click on the link, they will be able to view the presentation without needing to log in or have access to your Google Drive.

This makes it easy to share presentations with clients, partners, or anyone outside of your organization.

Sharing PowerPoint presentations in Google Drive is fast, simple, and enables easy real-time collaboration.

By uploading presentations to Google Drive and sharing them with the right permissions, you can work seamlessly with internal teams or external partners on presentations from anywhere.

Google Drive takes the friction out of collaborating on and presenting PowerPoints. So next time you need to share a presentation, look no further than your Google Drive account.

share folder presentation

Shared folders and collaboration in Keynote for iCloud

If you share a folder containing a Keynote for iCloud presentation, everyone who has permission to view the folder can open the presentation inside the folder.

For more information about using iCloud Drive to share folders, see the macOS User Guide , iPhone User Guide , or iPad User Guide .

Here are a few things to keep in mind about collaborating on presentations in shared folders:

If you want to invite people to collaborate on a presentation inside a shared folder, you need to change the settings for the entire folder instead of adding collaborators to the presentation.

If you move an unshared presentation into a shared folder, the presentation is shared with anyone who can open the folder.

If you move a shared presentation into a shared folder, only the people who can open the folder can open the presentation.

If the presentation you’re working on is inside a shared folder, anyone with a link to the presentation must have access to the entire folder to open it.

If you want to stop sharing a presentation inside a shared folder without changing the settings for the entire folder, you can move the file to a folder you haven’t shared.

If you stop sharing or delete a shared folder, all files inside the folder are no longer viewable by other users.

If a participant deletes a shared folder, it’s only deleted from that user’s device (unless you’re the owner of the folder).

If a participant (with permission to edit) deletes a presentation inside a shared folder, it’s deleted from everyone’s devices.

Note: The owner can recover the deleted presentation on iCloud.com. See the iCloud User Guide for more information.

Michael Cohen set to testify at Trump hush money trial Monday

By CNN's Kara Scannell, Lauren Del Valle and Jeremy Herb in the courthouse

Some call records were deleted from files, paralegal confirms

Defense attorney Emil Bove is challenging the evidence prosecutors are putting forward, asking paralegal Jaden Jarmel-Schneider about the deletion of some toll records between Keith Davidson and Michael Cohen after the defense submitted recordings between the two from 2018.

The paralegal has admitted that they've deleted some call records from the files. Bove also has Jarmel-Schneider confirm that some calls were removed from an exhibit of calls between Gina Rodriguez and Dylan Howard.

Bove said it was three-pages worth of records.

Jarmel-Schneider took issue with Bove characterizing it as a "significant" number but he did acknowledge some were removed.

"At this trial, you’re sort of the guardian of the toll records?" Bove asks. "I don’t know if I'd say that, but if you say so," Jarmel-Schneider responds.

Jurors laugh when paralegal says he enjoys tedious work

Trump lawyer Emil Bove began by asking paralegal Jaden Jarmel-Schneider whether the work he prepared took a lot of time.

"At times, tedious work?" Bove asked.

"Honestly, I kind of enjoyed it," Jarmel-Schneider responds, prompting laughter in the courtroom. Several jurors laughed, too.

"I hear that, respect," Bove says.

The key point of Georgia Longstreet's testimony: Introducing text messages on Stormy Daniels into evidence

From CNN's Eric Levenson

Georgia Longstreet, a paralegal in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office who testified earlier in the trial , took the stand again Friday to introduce records of text messages, contact records and several Trump tweets.

In particular, she read a series of text messages between Stormy Daniels' former publicist Gina Rodriguez and National Enquirer editor Dylan Howard as they negotiated over a deal to pay Stormy for her story about Trump.

“We're not doing the Trump deal,” Rodriguez wrote to Howard on October 17, 2016. “They didn't pay when they said they would and they keep trying to buy more time.”

Just over a week later, Howard texted about the deal again. “I blew a gasket at this people and told them not to f**k with people. Message made and heard."

Rodriguez responded: “Thank you so much do you think it will happen,” and Howard wrote back, “Yes. They were told in no uncertain terms.”

On cross-examination, Longstreet confirmed she simply read the messages and could not provide any context around them.

Defense is up for cross-examination of paralegal

Former Trump attorney says Stormy Daniels tweet is grounds for a mistrial

From CNN's Nicole Goodkind

Former Trump attorney William Brennan criticized Stormy Daniels on CNN today for "taunting the defendant" on social media, and called her actions "grounds for a mistrial."

Daniels, who testified on Thursday about her alleged sexual encounter in 2006 with the former president, seemingly disparaged Trump on X later that evening: "Real men respond to testimony by being sworn in and taking the stand in court," she wrote. "Oh...wait. Nevermind."

Trump on Thursday afternoon had asked Judge Juan Merchan to alter the gag order to allow him to respond publicly to Daniels' testimony. The judge denied the motion.

Every defendant in the US has the right not to testify, Brennan told CNN on Friday, and juries are instructed not to draw any adverse inference if a defendant chooses not to.

Daniels' tweets "will play in the hands of the defense," said Brennan. He said he would ask the judge to poll the jurors and ask if they had seen the tweet and whether it affected them.

"Jurors aren't supposed to look at social media, but they do," he claimed.

Trump attorney objects to the next exhibit prosecutors seek to introduce

Trump attorney Emil Bove objects to the next exhibit prosecutors want to introduce. The defense engaged in a sidebar with prosecutors following Bove's objection.

The next exhibit is a summary chart of vouchers, checks and ledger entries, according to reporters in the courtroom.

NEW YORK (AP) — A deadline is looming for millions of businesses who may be entitled to a payout in a $5.5 billion antitrust settlement with Visa and Mastercard .

The settlement stems from a 2005 lawsuit that alleged merchants paid excessive fees to accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, and that Visa and Mastercard and their member banks acted in violation of antitrust laws.

Any businesses that accepted Visa and/or Mastercard credit or debit cards in the U.S. between January 1, 2004 and January 25, 2019 may be eligible to receive part of the settlement. Eligible owners whose businesses have since closed or went bankrupt can also submit a claim.

Mitch Goldstone, CEO and owner of the film scanning business ScanMyPhotos.com, and lead plaintiff in the lawsuit, said it has been difficult to get the news out to small businesses so they can file a claim in the settlement.

AP correspondent Mae Anderson reports on a multi-billion dollar 5 billion antitrust settlement.

“Most eligible merchants still haven’t filed their claims, despite my efforts — such as helping design a user-friendly claim form with a simple QR barcode,” he wrote in an email. “It’s frustrating, considering it only takes a minute to file.”

The deadline to file a claim is Friday, May 31, 2024. Claims can be submitted on the claims portal PaymentCardSettlement.com and by mail if a company received a paper claim form.

Only businesses that submit a claim by the deadline will get money from the settlement. The amount of the payout for each business will be calculated after all claims are filed and validated.

Biden administration plans to raise tariffs on electric vehicles from China

Electric vehicles lined up.

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration plans to raise tariffs on electric vehicles and other clean energy goods from China next week, according to people familiar with the matter.

The tariff rate on Chinese electric vehicles is set to roughly quadruple — from 25% to about 100% — the sources said. They also said that a rate hike would apply to Chinese batteries and solar panels — two areas that the Biden administration has invested in domestically.

Administration officials are planning to make the announcement Tuesday, though the timing could change.

The White House declined to comment.

The planned tariff hike was first  reported  by the Wall Street Journal.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is heading to the G7 Finance Ministers meeting in Italy this month as the U.S. hopes to coordinate similar actions from other countries to present a coordinated front to China, one source said.

In an interview this week with Marketplace , Yellen was asked whether the U.S. was losing out competitively to China regarding electric vehicles and batteries.

“We don’t think the playing field is level,” Yellen responded. “And we think China is massively subsidizing investment in this set of industries that they have targeted as critical to their growth prospects.”

For almost two years, the U.S. has faced backlash from allies about undercutting their green energy economies because of the incentives included in the Inflation Reduction Act that President Joe Biden signed into law. Many of those allies have since created their own versions of the IRA to compete — and now they’re trying to present united front on a mutual competitor: China.

Last month, Biden called for  tripling tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum  when he spoke to union members in battleground Pennsylvania. During his remarks in Pittsburgh, the president said China was overproducing goods to export to the U.S., driving down prices and hurting the American economy because higher-quality U.S. products must compete with artificially low-priced alternatives.

“For too long, the Chinese government has poured state money into Chinese steel companies, pushing them to make so much steel, as much as possible, subsidized by the Chinese government,” Biden said at the time. “They’re not competing. They’re cheating. They’re cheating. And we’ve seen the damage here in America.”

Former President Donald Trump has  said he would consider  a 60% tariff on all Chinese imports if he's elected in November. During his administration, the U.S. imposed new tariffs on imports of washing machines, solar panels, steel, aluminum and billions of dollars’ worth of goods from China. Biden has kept most of Trump’s China tariffs intact.

External or guest sharing in OneDrive, SharePoint, and Lists

Sharing OneDrive files, SharePoint files, or Lists with other people allows you to securely collaborate with people outside your organization.

If you sign in with a work or school account, you can send a link to specific people, either inside or outside of your organization.

If you sign in with a Microsoft personal account, you can only choose people who also have Microsoft personal account.

Select a tab below for how you sign in:

If you want to secure your content and get a link that only works for the people you invite, select Specific people  in Link settings when creating the sharing link.

Link setting in OneDrive with Specific people option highlighted.

The recipients' experience depends on the settings you select when creating the sharing link, and the account they use to view the file.

Recipient doesn’t have a Microsoft account

The recipients won't need a Microsoft account. To access the content, OneDrive, SharePoint, or Lists sends a one-time passcode to their email address to verify their identity. After they receive the code, they enter it into the verification screen to open the file. The content is secured and the link won’t work if it’s forwarded to others – it only works for people you specified when you shared.

Recipient has a Microsoft account

When someone who has a Microsoft account wants to access the content, OneDrive, SharePoint, or Lists asks them to sign in to their account, and requests permission to view their name, email address, and photo to verify their identity.

Note that in some cases the recipient may need to follow the steps above and provide a passcode instead of signing in.

When you’re done collaborating, or at any time, you can stop sharing and remove access to your files. For OneDrive and SharePoint select the file then select Details > Manage access to stop sharing. For Lists, open the list and select the information icon in the top right corner, then select   Manage access .

For added security for OneDrive and SharePoint files, you can remove editing permission and turn on Block download in Link settings .

OneDrive Block download option in Link Settings

If you want anyone who receives the sharing link to be able to access the content, select Anyone with the link option in Link settings . The recipients won't need a Microsoft account and can access the content without having to enter a passcode or sign in.

Caution:  Recipients can forward the link to others and anyone who receives the link will be able to view and access the content.

If you want to specify who receives the sharing link, select the  Specific people option in Link settings . The recipients need a Microsoft account to be able to access the content.

Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3575 (Beta Channel)

  • Amanda Langowski
  • Brandon LeBlanc

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3575 (KB5037862) to the Beta Channel.

REMINDER: Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via  an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx). For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you , you can turn ON the toggle (shown in the image below) to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.

Turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available to get new features rolled out to you.

Going forward, we will document changes in Beta Channel builds in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available and then new features, improvements, and fixes available to everyone in the Beta Channel.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[windows share].

  • We are rolling out the ability to copy files from the Windows share window. Just click the new copy button.

New copy button for copying files in the Windows share window highlighted in a red box.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

  • We believe we have fixed the issue causing the sign-in dialog to persistently show in Microsoft Family Safety when trying to sign-in for customers in Europe.

[Taskbar & System Tray]

  • We are beginning to roll out a fix where you will see search box if the taskbar auto-hides when the setting for search on the taskbar is set to “Search box”.

[File Explorer]

  • Made a fix to help address an issue where the address bar dropdown would appear unexpectedly on its own, because focus moved unexpectedly to the address bar.

Known issues

  • We are investigating an issue where Internet Information Services (IIS) and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) may not work after installing this update.

Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who have the new position for the Widgets entry-point on left-aligned taskbars may see the following known issues:

  • Swipe invocation for Widgets may not work if taskbar is center-aligned instead of left-aligned.
  • Unpinning Widgets from the taskbar may not work if taskbar is center-aligned instead of left-aligned.
  • The Widgets board is incorrectly positioned when Copilot is in side-by-side mode.
  • Turning on/off Widgets in taskbar settings may refresh the taskbar.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

  • Updates released to the Beta Channel are based off Windows 11, version 23H2 .
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready .
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology , starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you*, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.
  • Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first.
  • Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.
  • Copilot in Windows** in preview is being rolled out gradually to Windows Insiders in select global markets. The initial markets for the Copilot in Windows preview include North America, United Kingdom and parts of Asia and South America. It is our intention to add additional markets over time.

Thanks, Amanda & Brandon
