Summertime is the most awaited time of any student’s life . It gives them a break from the scorching sun and blazing heat. The summer months are quite hot, however, students love them because they bring a sense of calmness due to the vacations. It frees them from the monotonous and dull routine of school and studies.

Most importantly, summer vacations give us a chance to explore new things. We can adopt new hobbies like painting, dancing, singing and more during this time. Furthermore, it gives us a chance to visit our grandparents or to someplace abroad. Summer vacations bring all types of fun, however, these particular summer vacations were the most memorable for me. My parents made me join a summer camp which was too much fun and then we visited our grandparents’ place.

Summer Camp

As the first day of my summer vacations started, I started getting bored easily. Mostly so because all my friends had gone to someplace or the other. My parents noticed this and decided to send me to a summer camp. Our school itself was organizing one in which my parents got me enrolled.

At first, I thought it would be of no use and would be equally boring. However, to my surprise, I was wrong. The summer camp was one of the best experiences of my life. I got the chance to indulge in so many activities and in fact, it was the first time where I discovered my talent for painting.

We got up early in the morning at 7 o’clock, despite no school. We had trainers who would teach us different things each day. On the first day, I got to learn karate, which was very amusing and helpful. Further, I learned how to play sports like basketball , table tennis, and volleyball.

Finally, came my most awaited part. We were taught painting and unique tips to master this art. I learned it quickly and started enjoying painting. My passion for painting began from this summer camp , and I will forever be indebted to it.

My Grandparents’ Place

After my summer camp ended, my whole family decided to visit my grandparent’s village . It is situated away from the city and is full of lush and greenery. I love spending time with my grandparents so I was very excited to visit their village.

We stayed there for over two weeks, and that throughout that time, I was at my best behavior. I used to get up at 7 o’clock in the morning to take a stroll with my grandfather. Then all the family members would get together to have breakfast full of healthy things and fresh fruits from the farm nearby.

In the evening, we would sit by our grandmother’s bed and listen to stories. Then, my siblings and I used to go to the terrace and play games. We would also gaze at their stars all night, as we did not get that in the city.

In short, this is how I spent my summer vacation. It was definitely one of the best times of my lives. I got to learn new things and spend valuable time with my grandparents. I feel blessed to have a loving family with whom I can enjoy my summer vacation.

Ans: This summer vacation, my family planned a trip to Sikkim, which is one of the most beautiful and peaceful states in India. This small state, located between the Himalayas, is home to just 5 lakh Indians and is renowned for its rich biodiversity. We booked flights from New Delhi to Gangtok and after landing, I would feel the fresh atmosphere around me. People in Sikkim speak English, Nepali, Sikkimese (Bhutia), Leptcha, and Hindi, and it was very exciting to explore places that I’ve only seen on the National Geographic Channel.

Ans: This summer, I visited a famous hill station; Nainital with my family. It is a small town in the mountains of Uttarakhand, India. We booked a traveller and the journey was long but very exciting. As we drove up the winding roads, I saw tall trees, green hills, and cool streams flowing down the mountains. We also visited a place called Snow View Point. We went there by a ropeway, which is like a cable car that goes up the mountain. From the top, I could see the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas. It looked like a picture from a storybook!

Ans: This summer vacation, I planned a trip to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh with my family. My holiday homework assignments were in math, science, and English. I decided to finish my homework early so that I could enjoy the rest of my vacation without any worries. Every morning, I dedicated a few hours to studying and completing my assignments. My mom and dad helped me whenever I needed it. They explained difficult concepts and made learning fun. By the end of the first week, I had completed most of my homework. This made me feel very accomplished and ready to enjoy my vacation fully.

Writing an essay on how you spent your summer vacation is a classic way of starting a new school year. Think about this essay as an opportunity to tell a story about your summer while reflecting on the experiences you had. Choose a memorable moment you had this summer and start crafting your essay, giving as many details as possible.

Choosing a Topic

• These can also make nice visual aids if you are asked to present your essay.

• A list might be full of things like babysitting, attending a camp, working at a local store, taking a road trip, etc. This type of brainstorming can help you pick major events and other important moments from your summer.

• For example, maybe you spent your summer traveling around Japan. Think of a memorable moment you had while traveling — maybe you walked up a mountain in the pouring rain — and write about this moment, adding lots of details.

• For example, if you're writing about spending time at the beach, your outline could remind you to talk about the sandcastle building contest you entered, the dolphins you saw, and the ice cream you ate every day.
• Details might be what the other sandcastles looked like, how far away the dolphins were, and what kind of toppings were on your ice cream.
• Your outline is just to help you organize your thoughts — it can be written by hand or typed.

Crafting the Essay

• Instead of saying that you worked in a pet store, ate a PB&J sandwich, and walked home every day, talk about more than just your actions. You could talk about which pets are your favorites to work with, how it felt to eat the same sandwich every day, or what you thought about on your walk home.

• Using sensory details like these will help your readers visualize and engage with your writing. These help your audience make your experiences feel real to them, even though they weren't there.

• For example, instead of saying “I went to the beach this summer,” try saying “I spent my summer swimming in the frigid water at Virginia Beach.” The more details you can provide, the more engaged your reader will be.

• Instead of saying “the burger was really good,” you could say, “the burger was juicy and filling.”

• Don't just rely on spellcheck. It will help catch some errors, but it will miss some things, too.
• Ask a parent or other adult to read over your essay too, if you'd like.
• Setting your essay aside for a little while will give you a fresher perspective when you go back to revise it.

My Visit to a Hill Station

This year, our family decided to take a summer vacation to a hill station. The visual splendour of several attractive locations in India is well-known, including Mussoorie, Ooty, Wilson Hills, Kufri, Nainital, Manali, Kerala, and Rishikesh. We debated which hill station to visit for a while before deciding on Shimla.

Our Trip to Shimla

My family and I drove to Shimla in our car and arrived early in the morning. We then proceeded right away to the hotel that we had reserved. Shimla has everything to entice travellers, from opulent hotels to gorgeous settings, and mall lanes to retail streets teeming with people from many cultures.

The tour was scheduled to last five days. We visited Mall Road and Jhaku Hills, two of the city's most popular tourist destinations, on the evening of our first day of travel. There are several events taking place there in the evening. Experiencing Shimla's nightlife was also incredible. We went to the Footloose Discotheque, which was packed with lively people and humming with wonderful music.

We rode the toy train the next day. This miniature train travels between Kalka and Shimla. Only 3 such trains operate in our country, and this one is one of them. Even though they move slowly, passing through them is fun. Skiing and bungee jumping were among the winter sports we engaged in that evening.

The next days were spent travelling to towns close to Shimla including Chail, Kufri, and Chitkul. Along with admiring their stunning natural beauty, these locations may be visited for some snowy adventure.

For foodies like myself, Shimla is also a nice treat. Shimla's cuisine is peculiar in that there is no middle ground, with little eateries serving just quick food, fine restaurants serving costly booze, and cafés serving a range of teas and cold beverages. Indulgent salami burgers were what we enjoyed on weekdays on our evening stroll.

We used to become exhausted in the evening after all these days full of activity, but the nightlife there or just gazing up at the stars made us feel really happy and re-energized. Curvy roads force one to see those beautiful hills from all directions, big trees that are standing erect, and that brisk air that exalts one's spirit and emotions.

After five days in Shimla, full of enjoyment, we returned to Delhi. This trip's memories are still fresh in my mind and I have taken many pictures to show to my friends. Shimla is unquestionably the queen of the hill towns. I’m definitely looking forward to the next time we visit.

After spending some quality time there, we went to the main market. My grandma told us about Kutch’s unique handicrafts and how many women make their living by selling different embroidered clothes. We bought an embroidered kurta for dad and a sari for mom. After this, we headed back home and helped grandma with dinner. The next day we went with our grandpa to a farm, and he taught us various farming techniques, which was fun. We indulged in different activities each day.

This was one of the best trips where we had loads of fun and learned about Kutch’s culture and heritage. I am looking forward to more trips like these.

For those living in metropolitan cities, summer holidays mean watching movies and television series, hanging out with friends, or surfing the internet. This consumes all of our time. But, this summer, spending time at my aunt’s place in Bhiwani village was an enthralling experience. It seemed like a different world to me.

Knowing Village Culture

The houses in the village are as big as palaces, but still, people are emotionally attached and aware of what is going on in each other’s life. Eating together, understanding situations and opinions of other people, and working together are some of the small things that add to beautiful village life .

Waking up early in the mornings is a practice that most villagers follow. It keeps them healthy and makes their day more productive. So, all the people in the house are required to be awake by 6 in the morning, which initially seemed like a curse to us. My uncle owns a kitchen utensils shop; he opens it at 7 in the morning daily. He left for work before 7 am each day. Most people were seen heading for their work around the same time.

I spent my mornings in the kitchen with all the ladies of the house, doing preparations for breakfast and lunch. I also helped them clean up the house after the kitchen tasks. In the afternoon, my brother and I took a round of the village and delivered lunch at my uncle’s shop. The rest of the afternoon was spent in slumber after having a heavy diet and loads of gossip.

The evening time in the village was the time for which I waited with a lot of excitement. One evening we went to the village well where women went to fetch drinking water. It was great to see them balance the pots full of water and walk back in a row. But the main treat was to see the confidence and happiness on their faces. The village also encompassed a big playground that used to be full of kids during the evening hours.

Our aunt and uncle also took us to the farm to show us the beautiful process of growing and nurturing fruits and vegetables. Looking at the farmers putting so much effort into their harvest and faces during the harvesting time was a great sight.

I also went to one of the panchayats going on in the village under a banyan tree, where issues of the village were being solved by the elders of the village with the consent of all other people of the village. This is where I witnessed a small example of democracy.

The simplicity of life in the village is where its beauty lies. My visit to the village always teaches me compassion and love towards our family.

The summer season is mainly known for the heat waves and holidays we students get. It’s a great time for students to go for a stress-relieving trip and to be closer to nature, for which they don’t get time during their hectic schedule throughout the year.

Our family decided to go for a summer trip to a hill station this year. We had planned the trip for 5 days. So in the evening of our first day of the trip, we went to the mall road and Jhaku hills which are known as the main tourist spots in the city. In the evening, many different activities are going on there. It was amazing to witness the nightlife of Shimla. We visited the Footloose Discotheque, full of vibrant people and buzzed with great music.

Our next day included traveling on the toy train. This toy train here runs from Kalka to Shimla. There are only 3 such trains in our country, and one of them is here. It’s an amusing experience to travel through them irrespective of the fact that they are slow. The evening was spent doing snow adventures such as skiing and bungee jumping.

The next days were spent visiting places near Shimla, such as Chail, Kufri, and Chitkul. These places can be visited for some snow adventure besides enjoying their beautiful scenic beauty.

Shimla is also a good treat for foodies like me. A bizarre thing about Shimla’s food is – that tiny diners or cafes are offering just fast food, a variety of teas and cold drinks, or fancy eateries that have overpriced alcohol on the menus – there is no ground in between. We had salami burgers at Beekays, which were delicious.

During all these days filled with loads of activities to do, we used to get tired in the evening, but the nightlife there or just staring at the starry sky gave us an immense sense of joy and filled us with new energy. There is enchanting music from tall trees standing upright there, curvy roads that make one look at those beautiful hills from all angles, and that lively breeze that fills one’s soul and heart with ecstasy.

We came back to Delhi after spending five fun-filled days in Shimla. The memory of this trip is fresh in my head. Shimla is indeed the queen of hill stations. I would love to revisit the place.

Summer is the most awaited time in any student’s academic year. Despite the scorching sun and blazing heat, these months have always brought a peculiar type of calmness to my soul that oozes freedom from monotony and dullness. My First Foreign Trip

On the very next day, when my summer vacation began, I found myself at terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji airport, Mumbai, looking for my flight boarding pass and posting stories about it on my social media accounts. My parents, siblings, and cousins surrounded me. There was excitement on everyone’s face. Being a full extended family vacation with all my cousins, aunts, and uncles, it seemed super fun from the time we set out in cabs to the airport. It was not my first time being amidst the clouds, but it was my first international flight giving a magnificent view of the night lights of the complete city, and looking at that, I knew that this trip was going to be a one-of-a-kind experience for me.

Landing in Hong Kong, I was taken aback by the mere sight of their airport. I think they lived to the “first impression is the last impression.” I was amazed beyond imagination, but somewhere, I knew this was just the beginning. The first day at this beautiful place mainly consisted of exploring the streets of this breathtaking city, which was rich in fashion, food, tech, and everything that screamed modern and at the same time archaic in their way of life.

The next place we visited was what all of us had dreamed of visiting for a long. It was the mesmerizing Disneyland. The first thing that caught my attention was not the people around dressed in Disney characters or the marvelous expanse of the space and rides and shops but the castle at the far end – The Disney Castle. It was just spectacular. The very charm and enchantment of it knocked me out of breath. The fireworks at night after a complete parade show make you wonder if you had crossed a line and entered the fantasy world. It had been much more than I imagined, even in my make-believe.

The next was a traveling day as we moved to our next destination Malaysia. The City gateway was the complete opposite of where we came from. This city did not have many skyscrapers, but the beautifully spread horizontal city was rich in culture and diversity. The exquisiteness of mosques, museums, and heritage sites perfectly blend with the city’s modern lifestyle and layout. The hilltop parts of the country, like Genting Highlands, could be called heaven on earth. The beaches here offer a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. I am glad we choose this as our last destination during this trip.

This has been one of the best holidays I have ever gone on. I saw so many beautiful places, had great experiences, and spent a lot of time with my loving family. My last summer vacation was indeed the best so far.

Long Essay on How I Spent my Summer Vacation – Essay 6 (800 Words)

Summer vacation is the most awaited time of the year by the students. With almost a year of classes, schedules, tests, and examinations behind them, they look forward to a joyous and relaxed month. Summer vacation could be spent in many ways, depending on your choices and preferences—some like playing and visiting places, while others prefer watching TV and their favorite movies.

I wouldn’t say I like watching TV, even when my parents don’t object. My heart craves the woods and the serenity of nature, away from the hustle-bustle of everyday existence. I have always wanted to visit forests and similar landscapes in the lap of nature.

Below I have narrated a journey to a few places I took during my last summer vacation. Though I returned and joined the school after that, the memories of the journey and the places are deeply engraved in my heart.

The journey started with a visit from my town to my ancestral village and then to a wildlife reserve, which I am sure you too will plan to go on this vacation, after going through my experiences.

At Village with my Grandparents

The journey began on the next day of my summer vacation. My father made these arrangements well in advance, supposedly when I was preparing for my exams. When I came back home after writing my last exam, my mother and sister were already packing for the journey. Though I knew we would visit our grandparent’s village and stay there for a couple of days, I had no idea about the further planned trip.

The journey to the village was smooth. We started well ahead of the train’s arrival time and reached the platform before its arrival time. It is three hours of a train journey from my city to the grandparent’s village, passing through lush green agricultural fields and glimpses of village life.

When we got off the train, I saw my grandfather waving and walking toward us, accompanied by my cousins. After exchanging initial greetings, we walked towards our house a couple of kilometers from the station. Though there is a road to reach the house, we took rather secluded trails, passing through the fields.

Something is mesmerizing about an Indian villages ; the cool breeze, the peace and calm, the smell and sound of cattle, and the distant sound of a pumping set from the fields entices you and makes you cherish every passing moment.

The food, milk, and even water taste much better in the village than in the city. We stayed in the village for four days, during which I met many of my relatives, elders, and friends from the village. I even went to our family’s agricultural field and learned a few tips for farming. Four days passed quickly, and the day soon arrived when we had to move on a further journey. However, it appeared that a few surprises were waiting for me.

Trip to the Dudhwa National Park

When the day arrived, I was in for two surprises firstly, that we were going to “Dudhwa National Park” and secondly that my grandparents were also going with us.

Dudhwa tiger reserve is a protected area spanning over 1280 sq km in Uttar Pradesh. It stretches across the districts of Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich, sharing the northeastern boundary with Nepal.

We boarded the train to Bareilly from Varanasi, an unforgettable overnight journey spent with family and like-minded wildlife enthusiasts, traveling to the same destination as us. From Bareilly, we took a connecting train to Dudhwa, which is approximately a distance of 12 kilometers.

We reached the park in the evening and stayed in a simple yet comfortable resort, having all the comforts and basic amenities. The staff was accommodating, and the food was simply delicious. The resort was securely surrounded by forest on all s, use and was well guarded. We fell to sleep listening to the voices of jungle fowls and animals from a distance.

The next morning we all woke up early and got ready for the jungle safari. The forest deforests deforest department organized the safari in anth a guard and an experienced guide onboard. As soon as we entered the forest, we started seeing birds and animals, which we had only seen in books and television. Birds like Bengal Florican and great slaty woodpecker were a delight to watch. Different species of lizards were also seen crawling to cover.

As we progressed deeper, many species of deer- swamp deer, barasingha, and chital came into view. We were also lucky enough to spot barking deer, which is very difficult due to its shy nature. We were lucky enough to spot a tiger lurking in the bushes on our third and last day. With this last sighting, our journey ended, and we headed back home on the same evening.

Summer vacation is the best time in any student’s life. A month or more of a fun time at your disposal is nothing less than a blessing. There are several ways to spend a summer vacation, although we must spend it in such a way that we learn new things and gain new experiences. Also, take care not to harm or disregard anyone during your enjoyment.

A Long Essay  on “How I Spend My Summer Vacation”   

Summer vacation is one of my favorite times of the year as almost every year me and my family make plans for long vacations. Summer is an ideal time for us to go on stress-free trips and get closer to nature, something we are unable to do throughout the rest of the year due to our hectic schedules. 

We generally go to meet our grandparents or go on a trip with family and friends. This year, I went on a trip to the hill stations of Ooty along with my parents, grandparents and cousins. The most important thing about these vacations is the time spent with family during these vacations we make life-long memories.

We started the vacation by going to the native village of our grandparents, which is around 100 km away from the city in which we reside. My cousins and our extended family also joined us in our ancestral home. We then took a train to Ooty. 

The train ride was filled with laughter and songs, and I greatly enjoyed the ride. We got to see the beautiful landscapes of India on our way to the destination. We reached our Ooty in the evening. It is a small hill station with beautiful natural scenery and vegetation. 

I started the next day with an early morning walk with my grandparents and cousins. I then ate my breakfast after which the whole family traveled around the town. I learnt about the birds and trees of the hill stations. During nights I and my cousins would hear stories from my grandparents. I thoroughly enjoyed these stories. At the end of my trip, we went shopping to take some mementoes to my hometown. 

Despite the fact that my summer vacation was longer, the trip was by far the most memorable experience I had at that time. I am very grateful for the time I spent with my family. Well, how great and happy it feels when we plan for vacations. It is the best thing to think about. It is the best time for all of us. Whenever I am free I think of spending some time with my family. Since I am studying away from my home I always miss my home. I miss my family. I miss the food of my house.

The worst thing that we have to face is the degraded food. It is hilarious over here. For the students in hostels can relate to this problem. Home is home. There is no comparison to it. No money and no materialistic thing can match up with the pleasure and satisfaction that is given only by our home. It is given only by our family.  

I always wait for my summer vacations to come. It is the only time when I go to home after a very long period of time. I get a holiday of around a month. This time we planned to go outside on a tour. I waited eagerly for the days to pass. I was counting every single day of my college.

I had even made a calendar wherein I used to put a cross mark on the days. This was the level of my excitement. It was so because this time it was not just about meeting my family but going on a tour. It had been a very long since we went on a holiday trip together. It was going to be a very memorable one. Every -thing was planned and I was about to leave for the home.   

It was a very good feeling going to home. I was on my seat travelling by train. I enjoyed the green crops passing by me through the window. Since I live in a metropolitan city I do not use to see things. It feels like home to see the greenery. Every -thing charges me up and remind me that I am getting closer and closer to my home town.

Now it was time for the final discussion of the planning. Well, it turned out to be a surprise for me. Our trip was planned for Jaipur. It is the capital city of the state Rajasthan. It is very famous for the palaces and the historical stories. I had a special kind of affinity for the historical places.

The very famous Hawa Mahal is also built in that city. It is also known as the oink city of our country. Amidst all the planning I came to know that we were to travel by airplane.

This was like a huge surprise for mw. Since I had never travelled in an airplane it was a very big thing for me. It leveled up my excitement into another level. I was very happy. There was no news that could match up to my happiness that I felt after hearing that plan.   

I started up packing my bag. I kept all my best dresses for the trip. I kept more of ethnic clothes since it belonged to historical values. I kept matching pairs of ear rings with my dresses. I made all my preparations. The very next day we had to leave for the airport.

My excitement could not let me sleep for the whole night. We woke up next morning and headed towards the airport. For the first time I went to an airport. It was very grand and big one.

It was beautiful in the structure and design. I looked at everything with much amazement.  We boarded the flight. I enjoyed my flight. I saw the air hostess serving us. I enjoyed each and every bit of the flight.  

We landed and headed towards our hotel. Yes, it is so true that the city was a pink city. Every building there was in pink color. It felt so mesmerizing to look at. The architect of the hotels was in the form of a palace. Everything was so beautiful there. I felt good to have come to that place.

The paintings were amazing. Everything was so beautiful and different. I did not feel like moving. I used to get at one place. The beauty was such that one could stand and gaze at it for hours. We saw the rooms where Jodha Bai lived.   

After the Qila we went to another fort. We went to Jaigarh fort. In that fort there is largest weapon that was used in battle at that point of time. It has its name in the Guinness book of world records too. It was big. It was huge. It was gigantic. The fort was on height.

After that we went to Nahargarh fort. The fort was at the highest peak of the city. From there we could the entire city. It was very beautiful to look at. The beauty could not be described in mere words. I loved that place. It had grabbed me in such a way that I did not want to leave that place.   

We saw the Hawa Mahal. We saw the Chaukidani. It was famous for the varieties of Rajasthani dishes that it served to the tourist. It had a great taste.

Descriptive Essay: How I Spend My Holidays

Introduction.

I spent my time in Devon in the United Kingdom. The truth is that I was given a contract to sell pewter jewelry, but most of the US had been taken up and my supplier was unwilling to allow me to take any of the remaining areas because my business was too small.

Me and my girlfriend found a ticket to the UK that was very cheap, but it took us to Hull. When we were there we stayed the night in a cheap hotel and went looking for transport. Luckily for us we found a lowlife willing to sell us a battered Volvo for just fifty pounds. Without insurance or an MOT we set off to make the 350 mile trip to Devon. It took us around 12 hours, but that is because we made occasional stops.

We stopped off at Newbury where their famous Newbery fruits candy is made. We also stopped off at the very disappointing Stonehenge. The people there had fenced it off and wanted £13 each for us to enter and go take a look. We parked just outside the compound and held our camera over the fence and took some photos that were really zoomed in. it was just a bunch of rocks in the ground and we were thoroughly unimpressed.

When we got to Devon we found a small nature reserve that was up a very large mountainous hill. There was a camp site there so we set up our tent and spent the night. We were so high up that there was often mist in the air. We woke up at around 7am to an eerily misty atmosphere. You could see the mist move like smoke as small gusts of air caught it. We saw a deer sneaking around to see if the campers had left anything, and just as the others in the compound were waking up we started to see rabbits come out of their hiding places and scamper off into the woods.

We traveled around Devon trying a few shops, but nobody was interesting in buying the jewelry and putting it in their shops. After a few rejections we lost our nerve and decided to spend the rest of our time as a holiday. The weather was very mild with very little rain and lots of sun. It was completely different from the rest of the country which is often windy or rainy with grey skies.

We saw a beach with light yellow and white sand, which is unusual in most other places in Britain. We also noticed how blue the sea was, which is another thing that is very uncommon in Britain because most of their sea is brown for around ten miles out to sea.

We accidentally locked the keys in the car and had to smash a back window to get at them. We took it to Stansted airport where we found a plane ticket to take us back home to America. We abandoned the car in the airport and left on our plane. It was a nice place to go on holiday, and the people all seem very nice, posh and sophisticated. I would recommend going to Britain for a holiday, just give Stonehenge a miss.

We went home and meet my grandparents. They were really happy. I found so many things have been changed in two years. The village was improving. I was happy to see that. But there was the same natural beauty. In the afternoon, I came out with my cousins to explore the beauty of the village. I met with lots of villagers, I know most of them and they also know me. My father is really popular here because he does charity for villagers.

We collected some beautiful rocks too. The bird’s sound was really sweet and we saw several types of birds. An uncle was describing every bird and was sharing information about them as a bird-expert.  

Cousins: In the whole picnic and holidays, my cousins were the most important part of it. They helped me to enjoy the vacation. When I am with them, I feel really good and they all are my best friends.  

Conclusion: I was really excited about the whole thing. I wish to be there again. This day is really memorable for me.

Introduction: I always love the holidays. The reason is, it comes with so much fun and excitement. Always we do something different for every holiday. We have spent long holidays a few weeks ago and that was amazing and memorable in my life. I spent the entire holidays in my home, but it was significant.  

My Cousins : The most important part of my holidays was, of course, my cousins . I have lots of cousins, living in the same city. But we can’t meet often because of the tight school schedule and our parents are also always busy. But in the holidays it’s an amazing chance to meet everyone.

We gathered in one house and spend a few days together. This time we planned to spend the entire holiday in our house. I said to my parents and they were happy about it. My parents are really loving and they never get worried or angry with me. My cousins are really incredible.

When we meet together, we so many unbelievable things make the meet funnier. So finally all of my cousins came to my house. They were five in total. Including me, we were six. So it’s not a small number. We all are pretty much the same age and that’s why we have got amazing bonding.  

Drawing Competition: One of my uncles arranged a drawing competition for us. The first prize was 10 books, second prize was 5 books and the third prize was 3 books. And every participant will get one book each. He gave us two days to practice. We were really excited about the competition.

First of all, we took a day to finalize the drawing subject. We showed our drawing subject to our uncle. He approved them and gave us some drawing suggestions. Finally, that day arrived. There were four people as a judge. Two of my uncles and one of my aunties and my mother was in the judging team. I was really excited about my performance. We all draw and Nila nominated as the best artist among us.

She draws a landscape that was looking awesome. I loved that drawing. Nikhil was second and I was third. I wasn’t worried about my ranking, because they both made an amazing drawing. And overall, it was a fun competition.  

Conclusion:  I spend a really amazing time with my cousins. I wish I can spend all of my holidays with them. They all are amazing and loving. We have great bonding.

Introduction: Today I am going to share my experience on how I spent my holidays at home. That was an amazing experience. I went to our village. We actually go there after a couple of years. That’s why I always become excited. There are lots of things to do and see. My father spent his whole life in that village. Spending holidays in the village is really fun for me.  

My Holidays at Home: We arrived in the village at noon. it took 5 hours car journey. The road was pretty good. The government is working on these local areas. My uncles, cousins, and grandparents were ready to welcome us. They were really happy to see us visiting them. My younger sister was really excited to see everyone.

When she came here a few years ago she was a kid, she can’t remember anything and that’s why she has to learn everything again. I find all of my cousins and went to our home with them. My cousins are really helpful. They love me a lot. Whenever I visit the village, they try to spend all of the time with me. They really care about me. I was really tired because of that long journey.

I took a bath and ate some ‘pitha’ made by aunties. They were amazing. I loved the taste. Then I asked every uncles and aunty about their life. Few neighbors also came to meet my family. Most of them were female.  I met with so many peoples. I was feeling really good to know such loving peoples in my own village.  

Visiting the Village: After taking some rest and meeting with people, one of my cousins Bhuvan asked me to go out. I was agreed and few of us planned to take a little walk through the village. I wanted to see the entire village. We met lots of people on the road. I know some of them and don’t know some.

It’s a really great experience to see the village from so close. Lots of things have been changed but the beauty of an Indian village was still there. Villagers are really easy people and peace-loving. They love living together without having any problem. I loved their lifestyle. Most of them are fisherman, farmers.

But in this generation, lots of kids are educated and lots of them are studying in school and college. We have a college near our village and two schools in the village. That’s a really good thing that my village is progressing.  

My Grandparents: The most important reason for visiting the village is my grandparents. I love them so much and I always wanted to spend some time with them. They were really excited to see us. Especially my grandmother really loves and she loves me a lot. She shared lots of stories with us. I still listen to her stories and loved them.  

Conclusion: It was an amazing experience to spend time in my village . These holidays were the best holidays of my life.

Introduction

You need to begin your essay with a catchy opening sentence that would grab your reader’s attention. Then quickly introduce the topic or purpose of your essay, and say where you went for the holiday and what you did.

Body Paragraphs

Just like you would do in the body of any other essay, divide your holiday experience into several key events or activities.

Then describe each event or activity in details in different paragraphs. Remember that, as much as possible, each paragraph should focus on a specific event or activity.

The number of paragraphs would depend on the number of words the essay is expected to cover.

Whatever the target word-count, ensure that your essay is vivid and engaging by using sensory details. It’s simple. Just describe what you saw, heard, smelled, tasted, and felt during each experience.

Then reflect on the significance or impact of each event or activity. How did it make you feel? What did you learn from it? Did it change your perspective on anything? And so on.

This is where you end your essay. A good conclusion would provide a brief summary of the key points of your essay, including the lessons you learned.

You can tell whether the holiday experience met your expectations, and how you feel about it even at the point of penning down your essay. Then state whether you plan to do anything in the future drawing inspiration from your holiday experience.

My Relaxing Holiday 200 Words

My last holiday was amazing! I did not travel to any new or interesting location, but I had a lot of fun staying home. I took time to enjoy early morning sleep every day. This alone felt like a treat after waking up early for school the entire term.

In the afternoons, I went outside to play with my friends. We played the soccer ball around in the park, and would enjoy pretending to famous athletes.

Sometimes during the holiday, it would rain. And when that happened, I just stayed inside and got cozy. I got a good book and devoured it with a mug of hot chocolate by my side. I also liked watching funny movies with my family and munching on popcorn.

In some evenings, we had barbecues in the backyard. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, while Dad told us stories about when he was a kid. I don’t think that anything can feel more special than spending so much time together.

Although I did not travel anywhere, my holiday was full of fun and relaxation. I feel recharged and ready to go back to school now!

My Last Holiday Adventure 250 Words

Since I have been spending my holidays, none had been as enjoyable as the last one. When we vacated last term, I spent two weeks at home in order to assist my parents in farm work. After this, I left for Onitsha in order to visit some places of interest.

I visited the modern and popular Niger bridge which links Onitsha and Asaba, Mid-West. I also visited the famous Onitsha Main Market. It has no rival in comparison in West Africa just as Ibadan Liberty Stadium has no comparison in West Africa. When I was being taken round the great Onitsha Main Market by a friend, I observed that traders in their respective stalls felt at home. Some of them tuned in their radio sets. They were happy.

I spent one week at Onitsha and departed for Enugu. When I was at Enugu I visited the Eastern Nigeria Parliament, and I saw Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s Statue just close to the house of Assembly. I also visited Enugu Airport and several other places of interest. I spent five days in Enugu and departed for Lagos by a train. “Lagos Limited”, and that was my first time of entering train. When I reached Lagos, I hardly believed that it was a town in Nigeria. It was very beautiful indeed just like London.

When I was in Lagos, I went to the House of Representatives, the Senate, National Stadium, Air- port, Tinubu Square and other places of interest.

I spent 5 days in Lagos and returned home to resume School. I wrote a story on all my observations in the journey.

My Last Holiday Essay 300 Words

Last summer, I went on a trip that I will not easily forget. This is because it meant much more to me than just a vacation; rather, my perception was changed.

I had never been in Thailand before the holiday but only heard of its beauty. Finally visiting the country made my holiday worthwhile. The place was so different from home! Their market was busy with many colorful items for sale and their food was so delicious. I tried several new and amazing dishes, and they were all lovely. While in Thailand, I couldn’t fail to notice how beautiful their temples are with roofs gold plated and other carvings done wonderfully.

I am an outdoor kind of person. That is why spending time in nature during my holiday made me very happy. Some days I would hike through forests while others would find me relaxing at the beach. On one fine morning, I woke up early to witness sunrise over New Zealand’s mountains. It was simply breathtaking and that made me feel alive.

Lastly, to add some holiday fun into it; i did some daring activities too. For instance, skydiving and bungee jumping were included in my itinerary. Although at first scared, it turned out pretty awesome! I learned that it’s good to challenge yourself and try new things sometimes.

Looking back on my last holiday, I feel very grateful for all the experiences I had. I discovered a lot of new things and also made new friends. Yes, the holiday is over, but the memories I made will stay with me forever.

There was nothing to worry about, however. My mom’s old friend lives there, and she helped greatly in arranging matters. She was kind to inspect the apartment offers found on the Net. Her husband, who is a civil engineer, commented then on all the pros and cons in each case, so that we could make up our minds more easily. He also recommended a reliable van line – they delivered all the breakables we decided to transport safely. Not to pay too much for transportation, we thought it wiser to buy some of the furniture and major appliances when already at the new place.

And that’s where Christmas shopping campaigns (which I usually find too hectic to my taste) came in handy. Due to numerous discount offers, bonuses and other perks, such as free delivery, we managed to furnish our new home with nicest things without it costing us an arm and a leg. Of course, touring the shops took us not one day but ten, but every minute spent was definitely worth it. I was lucky to participate in it all – thus I had the better part of December off school (well, I just had to work harder for a while at my former school).

After we bought the necessary furniture and home appliances, Mom and Dad got busy with some minor repairs and redecoration. As for Christmas ornaments, they delegated this task wholly to me. Oh, how glad I was! I can say I love festive preparations not less than the celebration itself, so I set about the task with all my heart.

For inspiration, I went window-gazing every day; those walks were magical in and of themselves thanks to light snowfalls that lasted a week. The streets were beautiful; I also visited malls. I sauntered past shop windows, took snapshots of designs I liked, and then discussed them with Mom and Dad. We brainstormed the best suggestions, and next I went to collect supplies for the DIY-able things and buy some ready-made ornaments. After that, with time free from school at my disposal, I devoted myself to creativity. It was bliss – if I’d had to attend classes, like it was every December before, I wouldn’t have even half the opportunity to indulge in all the arts and crafts that I love. I made fabric accessories, felted and papier-mâché ornaments, bunting, table decoration, greeting cards and gift wrapping.

Apart from that, I gave a hand in redecoration, too. While Mom was busy cooking, Dad and I went on pasting new wallpapers, hanging curtains and light fixtures. After a few more days of work, we made another tour to stock on groceries (which was a bargain, too due to all the special offers); then all that was left was arranging the furniture, buying a Christmas tree, decorating the place and preparing dinner.

On December, 25 we invited Mom’s friends over to our place. We presented them with a set of designer ceramic vases for their beautiful home, and they gave us a fondue pot, some fine Belgian chocolate and a pound of delicious strawberries which we relished as well as our long chat that wonderful Christmas night.

I went to Lisbon with my Gen Z niece – this is what I learned about multi-generational travel

When I invited my 19-year-old niece for a weekend away to Lisbon , I have to admit I was a little nervous.

Yes, we regularly spend time together, and growing up she was the apple of my eye – but that didn’t necessarily mean that we’d be able to get through a city break without wanting to kill each other.

Perhaps rather unfairly, I had flashbacks to her getting car sick as a child and waking up teary-eyed in the middle of the night whenever she was away from home. I wondered if she’d be okay going away, if she’d get homesick or struggle with the journey over to Portugal . But she’s not a kid anymore , I had to remind myself – a fact that still hasn’t quite sunken in, even as she nears her 20th year.

In the days leading up to the trip, I FaceTimed her to go through what she was packing. In stark contrast to my minimal, streamlined suitcase – that had plenty of room to spare – hers was overflowing with ‘options’, from floaty dresses and linens to every form of SPF you could imagine. I ended up having to be the stern voice of reason. ‘Bloody hell, Ruby! We’re only going for two nights’, I sighed, sounding more like my mother than I care to admit.

The thing that reminded me most of our thirteen-year age gap, however, was her comment as we went through airport security. Having placed her bag and gadgets in the tray, she wore a forlorn expression on her face as her things were carted off on the conveyor belt. 

On the other side of the scanner I asked her: ‘What’s up?’ She replied, in all seriousness, ‘That’s the longest I’ve ever been without my phone.’ So strong was my eye roll that it was practically audible to those around us.

Once on the plane and settled into our seats, I gave her a brief summary of what to expect – this was her first time flying, after all. Although she made several jokes and seemed to be in good spirits, I could sense her nervousness – which in turn made me feel anxious. 

I don’t particularly mind flying and am much more used to it than her, but suddenly the weight of responsibility pressed down on me. What if something bad happens while she is in my care? What if it puts her off flying for the rest of her life? What if my sister hates me forever for not looking after her daughter?

Just as I had done when she was a little girl, I offered her my hand and hoped to god that it would be a smooth flight. For me and for her. But mostly for her.

Thankfully the flowing booze and boujee business class meal after takeoff was enough to ease both our nerves. So enamoured with the experience was she – after the initial climb above the clouds, that is – that she took a flurry of snaps of the sunset on her phone, using up most of her storage before we had even reached Lisbon. I was suddenly experiencing everything anew, through her lens.

A rather tame Friday night

When we landed in Lisbon some three and a half hours later, we were both ready for bed. So our arrival at the Palácio Ludovice Wine Experience Hotel in the Bairro Alto neighbourhood was made all the better when we learned that our room had been upgraded to a suite – complete with sitting area, hers and hers sinks, a king-sized bed with plush pillows and silky cotton sheets, and a TV that appeared at the press of a button.

Rooms at the Palácio Ludovice Wine Experience Hotel start at £254 per night on Hotels.com, and our spa treatments cost £84 each. All in all, we spent about £300 each on eating out, drinks and coffees, and activities while we were there.

When we awoke the next day, refreshed from our sumptuous slumber, we had a bit of a ‘pinch me’ moment – and I definitely scored myself some serious auntie points. It occurred to me to warn her that not all holidays would be as luxurious as this, but I decided against it and instead revelled in her excitement.

As heavenly as the hotel was, we quickly got ready – to my surprise, Ruby didn’t take an age – and headed out in search of espresso and pastel de natas. Although I had visited the city before, I wanted to ensure we saw and did as much as possible during our stay, and that she got to experience the many delights of Portugal.

A day exploring Lisbon centre

Luckily Ruby is just as much the coffee fiend as I am, and didn’t mind taking a little detour to a top-rated cafe. The queue of locals waiting for their daily loaves was a very good sign, and the pastries certainly lived up to the hype.

After our morning pick-me-up and a scout of the wares on offer at the nearby open-air market, we headed towards the Bica funicular – an endearing little elevator built in 1892 that takes some 3.5 million passengers up the hill every year. At the top, the little yellow cart offers views of the Tagus river and the terracota rooftops of the sprawling port city.

From there, we took a quick wander along the Rua Cor de Rosa (or pink street), renowned for its fuchsia-coloured pavement and multicoloured umbrellas, suspended from thin wires above, and took a few pictures. Gimmicky though it may be, it’s one of those things most people have on their to-do lists – and it’s close by to everything else.

Although we perused the Time Out Market on the waterfront and I did pick up a deliciously juicy peach from the old farmer’s market adjacent to the street food hall, we decided to enjoy a glass of vinho verde and some tapas at the nearby Vila Bica instead.

As I explained to Ruby; Lisbon doesn’t have lots of landmarks in the same way most European cities do, but it is full of charming architecture, Azulejo tiles and great food – and also enjoys long bouts of sunshine.

With that in mind, we whiled away the hours in that same spot, catching up, drinking the green wine of northern Portugal’s Minho province, and snacking on croquettes. It was quite easy to forget in this moment that she is a teenager and not one of my 30-something girlfriends.

The afternoon was spent tackling the steep hills, as we made our way past the castle and on to the Alfama neighbourhood – Lisbon’s oldest and, in my opinion, prettiest. While we were there, we couldn’t resist stopping by the Casa São Miguel patisserie and grabbing yet more custard tarts and sweet treats.

As construction was underway for the upcoming Santo António Festival, or Festival of Sardines as it is also referred to, we decided to head back to the hotel to freshen up, then try somewhere local for dinner.

Having had our fair share of tapas by that point, we decided to go for Mexican at Coyo Taco Príncipe Real – but not before we witnessed the sunset at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara viewing point and enjoyed a schooner of vintage Taylor’s port. It was the perfect end to the day.

Sunday strolls – and a bit of sangria

When the hotel offered us two treatments at the adjoining Caudalie spa , we of course had to take them up on it. We had walked over 15,000 steps the day before and the steep inclines had left us weary and achy – me more so, given that I am much older than my dear niece.

Donning our bath robes and slippers, we went down in the lift and landed straight outside the treatment rooms in the basement, the smell of neroli and ginger welcoming us.

Although my niece and I didn’t visit Cascais during this trip, I did go there the last time I was in Portugal. The picturesque riviera resort not only has cute coves and sandy beaches, it’s chock-full of fine dining experiences – and well worth a visit. I’d recommend booking the following restaurants in advance, for either lunch or dinner:

• Hifen – Portuguese, seafood, sea views
• Cantinho do Avillez – Portuguese, seafood
• Kappo – Japanese, fresh sushi
• Moules and Gin – Portuguese, seafood

We each opted for the Vinotherapist Sculpting Massage, a 50-minute treatment that works the entire body and plunges you into deep relaxation. This was another first for Ruby, and she was positively blown away by the experience. ‘My back’s never felt so good!’ She exclaimed as she met me back upstairs in our room afterwards. I went to say, ‘Wait until you get to my age,’ but swiftly decided against it, already feeling ancient in comparison.

As it was our last day and we were catching a flight later that evening, I decided to take her to LX Factory once we were dressed. I knew she’d love the knick-knack stores, the bilingual bookshop and its general ‘hipster’ vibes.

Located about 15 minutes from our hotel by Uber, we had plenty of time to mooch the stalls and enjoyed a slow lunch in the sunshine – and a few glasses of white sangria, naturally.

When it was time to leave, I felt a pang of sadness. We hadn’t spent such an intense period of time together before and, although at times she got on my nerves and me hers, this trip had allowed us to bond and reminded me just how special our relationship is. I’m thankful that we got to experience Lisbon together and create such wonderful memories.

In spite of the differences in our age, our tastes in music, food and, well, just about everything, there is something very strong that unites us: love.
