The national flag of India is a horizontal tricolour of deep saffron, white and green; in the centre is a navy blue wheel with 24 spokes. Its design is that of the wheel which appears on the abacus of the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka. The flag was adopted in its present form during a meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947, when it became the official flag of the Dominion of India. On 15 August 1947, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Indian Constitution, and Flag Code-the first set of national flags were ordered for all ships and aircrafts registered in India. The code has since been revised twice-firstly on 26 January 1950 after India became a republic and secondly in August 1971 to include changes recommended by the Union Cabinet.

Importance of Displaying the Tiranga in Homes

The Tiranga is a very important symbol of Indian Independence and should be displayed in every home as a sign of patriotism. It is a reminder of the hard-fought battle for freedom and the sacrifices made by our forefathers. It is also a symbol of hope and unity, and reminds us that we are all one people regardless of our caste, creed or religion. By displaying the Tiranga in our homes, we are paying homage to those who fought for our freedom and reminding ourselves of the values that we hold dear as Indians.

Examples of Har Ghar Tiranga Initiatives

In order to make India a truly sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic, it is essential that each and every Indian family has a Tiranga (national flag) in their home. The Har Ghar Tiranga initiative is a nationwide campaign launched by the Government of India to encourage all Indian families to hoist the national flag at their homes.

The initiative was started on 15th August 2016, on the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day. Under this initiative, the government provides free national flags to families who do not have one. The aim is to instill a sense of patriotism and pride in every Indian citizen.

So far, the initiative has been very successful with over 3 million flags being distributed across the country. Families from all walks of life have come forward to participate in this patriotic initiative. Many state governments have also started their own version of the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative.

Some examples of Har Ghar Tiranga initiatives are as follows:

• In Uttar Pradesh, under the ‘Har Ghar Surakshit Hindustan’ campaign, free national flags were distributed to families living in rural areas. • In Maharashtra, under the ‘Mukhyamantri Tiranga Yojana’, each family in urban areas was given two free national flags. • In Karnataka, the ‘Tiranga Jyoti Abhiyan’ was

The Indian National Flag represents free India, evoking patriotism in the hearts of the masses. One can proudly associate the ‘Tricolor’ with the many brave souls who dedicated, even gave up their lives, so that the National Flag could fly high. From the moment it was first hoisted, it has symbolized all our victories as a nation.

The National Flag of India (in its present design) was adopted in the meeting of the Constituent Assembly on 22nd July 1947 , days before India gained Independence on 15 th August 1947. The colors of the National Flag of India hold great significance and were chosen distinctively to portray the spirit of India. Saffron indicates strength and courage, white indicates peace and truth and green stands for fertility and growth. The Chakra present in the center of the Flag symbolizes motion, progress, and advancement.

The dignity of the National Flag of India is governed by the Flag Code of India and its amendments . It describes the conventions, practices, and instructions for the display of the National Flag.

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home from 13 th -15 th August 2022. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.

This initiative is especially focused on engaging the youth of the country, to inspire them to take a moment to reflect and pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives, so that their future generations could grow up in a country that was free. “Pin a Flag” and “Selfie with Tiranga” are initiatives under Har Ghar Tiranga that are especially focused on the youth. Herein, one can virtually hoist a flag by “pinning it” through www.harghartiranga.com . Here you can also upload a selfie with the National Flag.

Since its announcement on 22nd July, this campaign has witnessed participation from all walks of life. NGOs and Self-Help Groups from across the country are actively contributing to large-scale flag production and making them available to the masses. The vision of honouring the National Flag is becoming a reality and another milestone celebration of the people of India, by the people of India.

Events are being held across the country to celebrate and popularize Har Ghar Tiranga, from the ‘Tiranga Utsav’ event held on 2 nd August 2022 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya—the freedom fighter who designed the Indian National Flag, to bike rallies to local events in communities and villages. Each such initiative has witnessed tremendous Jan Bhagidari and is a testimony to the spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Incidentally, our honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, started the symbolic Dandi Yatra on this very day in 2021. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav marked the beginning of the revival of Indians’ journey towards self-reliance and self-respect.

The Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Din Tiranga Campaign 2022

The Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Din Tiranga campaign aims to instil a sense of pride and love for our nation in the citizens, who will keep a tricolour flag in their houses 365 days of the year. This seems like a great initiative to keep reminding the citizens that they live in a colourful nation breeding love, unity, and diversity.

The campaign is urging all Indian citizens to start a mass movement to commemorate our 75th Independence Day. They can do this by hoisting or putting up tricolour flags in their homes and putting up tricolour images as their profile pictures on social media handles.

Previously, the Tricolour flag could only be hoisted between Sunrise and sunset. However, this year it is not the same scenario. People are allowed to hoist the flag all day long.

The Flag Code for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2022

Following are some of the rules laid down by the Indian Government in 2021 for the hoisting and display of the Indian tricolour flag from then onwards:

The flag shall be either hand spun, hand woven, or machine made using cotton/polyester/wool/silk khadi bunting.

Any member of the public, private, or educational organisation can hoist or display the national flag on all days and occasions, be it ceremonious or otherwise.

The flag can be hoisted and displayed day and night if it is an open area where people can watch.

The flag can be of any size, but it has to be rectangular in shape with a length-to-width ratio of 3:2.

In a time of display, the national flag needs to be positioned appropriately and should appear distinctly.

People should not display a damaged or dishevelled flag.

No other flags should be hoisted or displayed from the masthead where the Indian national flag is hoisted.

There should be no other flag or bunting hoisted above or side by side with the Indian national flag.

No other citizens, except dignitaries like the President, the Vice-President, the Prime Minister, Governors, etc., should not fly the national flag on their vehicles.

The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a government initiative to commemorate the 75th or diamond jubilee year of Indian Independence Day , where the festivities will continue for 75 weeks until 15th August 2023, which is a year from now. This is a great approach to instil a sense of love, respect, pride, and responsibility towards the nation in Indian citizens, kids and adults alike. It is an important step to revive the culture and history of Indian Independence and other aspects as well. People are urged to take an active part in this campaign turned mass movement to do their part.

“We will hoist the tricolor at home and celebrate the nectar festival of freedom”

Introduction :- The national flag of any country is a matter of honor and pride for that country. This time the celebration of our India's independence will be special. To commemorate the completion of 75 years of independence, this time 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan' is being run. Under this, the tricolor will be hoisted with public participation in more than 20 crore houses of the country.

History of Indian National Flag : From ancient India to modern India, there used to be a flag in every period. In ancient India, when there was a majority of Hindu rulers, then saffron was worshiped in the form of a flag. There were many differences in making the Indian national flag 'Tiranga'. But due to some intelligent people, the flag was divided into three main parts. It came to be considered as an indicator of peace, development and agriculture of the country of India. The first flag in Indian history was made by sister Nivedita. The Indian national flag 'Tricolor' was adopted in its present form during the meeting of the Constituent Assembly of India held on 22 July 1947.

har ghar Tiranga campaign

For us, the tricolor is very important and a matter of pride. Preparations have been made in the country for the celebration of 15th August Thani Independence Day. This time it will be very special, as the country is going to celebrate 75th anniversary of independence this time. The Government of India is going to celebrate it as 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' on the occasion of 75 years of independence. The day of 15th August is a symbol of the saga and sacrifice of those heroes who gave us freedom without caring for their lives. Our goal should be that the national flag should be hoisted all over India under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan'. Flag hoisting at all residences, government and non-government offices and commercial industrial units, other establishments, offices, where the flag should be hoisted at all Amrit Sarovars.

Purpose of Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan: Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiman has been started this year to commemorate 75 years of independence. This campaign will create a sense of patriotism in the hearts of the citizens as well as increase awareness about the national flag. The main objective of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign is to encourage more and more people to hoist the tricolor in their homes.

Har Ghar Tiranga Essay Conclusion : The national flag tricolor is the pride of India today after crossing many hurdles. Insulting the national flag is an insult to the country. We all have to follow all the instructions related to the national flag seriously so that the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign can become a successful campaign. In this, every resident of the state should participate with a harmonious spirit.

"The tricolor is our pride, we will always keep the head high, as long as there is life"
