Your Future Is In Your Hands

Don’t think that anybody else is controlling your future . It might be easy to blame everything on everyone else, and we know a lot of you will probably do that. But your life is most definitely in your hands, and there’s plenty you can do about the destiny that you have. Although it might not seem this way to you, we know that all you’re going to be thinking about is what the future might hold, and we know you’ll be thinking about your job and how that’s holding you back. Because it does hold us back. If you really think about it, pretty much everything we do revolves around work. From the time you’re able to spend in your personal life, to the money you have, to the friendships you have. Once you’re tied down to that working life, there’s pretty much no going back to a normal and free life. You don’t have the support of your parents, and you don’t have the comfort of being able to go to school, come home and raid the cupboards, and see which of your friends you can meet for you evening. So, enough about the past, and enough about work. Let’s focus on the future that’s in your hands, and how you can make sure it’s simply the best.

my future is in my hands essay grade 11

What Do You Like About Your Life?

Ok, so rather than starting on a negative note, we want to talk about all of the things that you like about your life at the minute. It could be absolutely anything, and we encourage you to write a list. Because we really do think that so many people are focused on the negatives in life, and forget about how many positives are surrounding them. When life does get you down, thinking about the things that make you happy, and the things you’ve achieved can really bring you right back up again! So, think about the friends that you’ve got, and how you can use them to shape your future. We think for some of you, the friends that you’ll have around you will be massively underrated. You’ll have so much going on, that making time to see them just might not be an option for you. But when you do meet up and everyone is laughing and joking, all you can think about is how happy you are at that moment in time. So now think about how your friends could make your future so much brighter. If you know you don’t make enough time for them, try and turn it all around. In the new year try and go on some adventures with them, and explore the world as much as you can. Your future is always going to be so much brighter with them in your life. The same goes with anything else that you like about your life at the minute. You really do need to focus on them, and make sure that your future is filled with happy memories and experience, wherever they might come from.

What Do You Dislike?

If you start talking about all of the things that you dislike, we know that the list might just go up and up. The more time you spend thinking about your dislikes, the more they can cloud all of the things that make you happy. Which is why we think that if you want to control your own future, you first have to control your own dislikes. For most people, their main dislike is the lack of money that they have, or the lack of time to do the things they really want to do. If you feel like money is a big issue, and that it’s clouding your future, go and talk to a financial advisor. Getting some professional advice about how you can improve your finances can really turn your life around! Once your money situation starts improving, you’ll soon realise that pretty much everything else in your life will fall into place. We bet if you think about all of the problems that you’re having, every single one of them could be solved with some extra money in your life!

What Do You Wish You Could Achieve?

Goal setting. This is what we’re all about. It shouldn’t be what you wish you could achieve, it should be about what you’re going to achieve. The more pressure you put on yourself to go and do something a bit more out of the ordinary, the more of a brighter future you’re going to have. Even if you simply wish to achieve the ability of being able to paint, it’s still something to work towards. So if you have a bit of spare time at the minute, think of all of the things you want to achieve in your life. What you’ll be left with is a list of things you can crack on with. A list of things you can start to tick off as you go along, so you can eventually feel like you’re accomplishing more in life. If you really can’t think of anything you’d like to achieve in life, then do a quick Google search and have some inspiration from others! The more positive things you’re going to have to work towards, the less focused your mind is going to be on the negative side of things.

Let’s Talk About Careers

Now this is the one that most of you might have been waiting for. Your career is going to be one of the most important things to you, and you’re obviously going to revolve your life around it. But how much do you honestly hate the career that you’re in at the minute? We know that some of you just won’t be happy, and you’ll be dying for a way out that you just can’t find. If you know you’re good with practical work, and you know you like problem-solving, you could try a online electrical engineering degree . It’s such a well-paid role to get into, and being able to train for it through an online course means you won’t ever have to worry about losing money by quitting your job. Taking online courses really is a fast pass to a better future when you might feel like there really isn’t one! Considering your career is such a huge part of your life at the minute, and will be for many years to come, we definitely would consider your options with moving if you’re just not happy at the minute!

What Type Of Person Are You?

You might be wondering how this is going to relate to your future. Well, let us enlighten you. If you’re the type of person who is set in their own ways, and you’ve done pretty much the same thing since before you can remember, then time most definitely is going to pass you by without you achieving anything. But we get why you would be like this. Once you’ve spent so long doing something one way, it can be hard to step out of your comfort zone to do something different. So, if you know you’re quiet a reserved person, focus on bringing yourself out of your shell. Slowly put yourself into situations you wouldn’t usually do, and you’ll slowly start to watch yourself change. All of the sudden you won’t be bothered about living the same routine you’ve always done, you’ll actually be excited to make a difference to your life.

So, take your future into your hands, grasp it, and make sure it’s the best future you could possibly ask for!

Discussion Questions

On the first page of her memoir , Irene Gut Opdyke says, “If I tell you [about the war] all at once—first this happened, and then this, and these people died and those people lived and then it was over—you will not believe me” (1). Since she can’t reveal the terrible things that happened “all at once,” how does Opdyke recount her story? What literary devices does she use to convey horrors that, at times, seem unspeakable? Do Opdyke’s storytelling choices make her message more or less effective?

In the first chapter of her memoir , Opdyke says that as a child, she visited the Black Madonna icon and believed that with this Holy Mother as a guardian, “Poland would never fall” (11). How does Irena’s view of religion, and particularly of God’s ability to protect her and her country, shift throughout the memoir? How does religion help and/or hinder Irena in her quest to save lives?

Throughout her memoir , Opdyke returns to the particularly horrific image of a German soldier shooting a Jewish baby. How does Opdyke first present this image, and how does the image change through the memoir? What does this shifting vision illustrate about Irena’s struggle to reconcile and overcome the horrors she’s witnessed?

Your Future Is In Your Hands

“Make your life a mission — not an intermission.” Arnold H. Glasgow, American humorist

In the next few weeks, most businesses will be going through an inventory process. And that’s all well and good and legally mandated … but it’s fairly insignificant compared to a personal inventory.

You should be taking a personal inventory as well. You should be asking yourself a few questions: “Am I pleased with where I am in life? If I continue to do in the next five, ten, or twenty years what I’ve been doing in the last five, ten, or twenty years, will I be pleased with who I am, where I am, and what I have?”

If you answered “no” to some or all of those questions, relax. It’s never too late to discover your purpose and get on track … because you CAN change. The key to YOUR future is in YOUR hands.

After speaking to thousands of people, after working with hundreds of organizations, I’ve discovered that the happiest, most productive people are happy and productive BECAUSE they have a dream to live for and a purpose to live by. And if you haven’t got all that figured out in your life and your career, let me suggest the following tips.

=> 1. Get a dream.

When you were a child, you were a dreamer. In fact, half the fun in life came from pretending or imagining or asking “what if” questions. It just came naturally, and there was nothing wrong with that.

But then some people came along and told you to “grow up” and “quit all that foolishness.” Their negativity caused your dream to shrivel up or get shoved to the back corner of your mind.

That’s tragic … because every great achievement began with a dream. And it doesn’t matter if you’re talking about Walt Disney, Henry Ford, or a mother who wants to raise responsible children. Every great achievement starts with the dream. Someone dared to dream, to believe it was possible, and acted accordingly.

So get a dream … if you don’t already have one … because there’s power in your dreams. As one of the best-selling authors of all time, Tom Clancy, puts it: “Nothing is as real as a dream. The world can change around you, but your dream will not. Responsibilities need not erase it. Duties need not obscure it. Because the dream is within you, no one can take it away.”

Despite the truth of Clancy’s comment, some of you may have a hard time when it comes to “getting a dream.” It just seems too fluffy or esoteric. And others of you don’t even know HOW to get a dream.

However, to get a dream, to get you started, to make it easier for you … ask yourself one question: “From now on, what is the single most important thing I am going to do with the rest of my life?” Your answer will reveal YOUR dream.

And then…

=> 2. Get a positive dream.

The world is filled with people who are AGAINST something. Just watch the news. Hardly a day goes by when you don’t see some protesters on the street, carrying their signs, and screaming about those things they are against. And, certainly, there are plenty of bad things in this world we can and should be against.

But you can’t live a victorious life or have a productive career by simply being AGAINST certain things. You’ve got to have a dream FOR something. You’ve got to have a positive dream. As author Christina Baldwin pointed out, “To work in the world lovingly means that we are defining what we will be FOR, rather than reacting to what we are AGAINST.”

Cleric and author Robert Schuller takes it a step further. He says, “Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.” That’s smart!

You see … many people are against all big businesses because of the bad things done by one big company. Many people are against all managers because of the incompetence of a particular manager they endured years ago. And many people are against God because of the misdeeds of a certain pastor, priest, nun, or fellow parishioner. That’s tragic.

So get a dream … but get a positive dream FOR something. And then…

=> 3. Dare to dream big.

As Satchel Paige, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, told us, “Dream big. Small dreams ain’t got no suction.”

In other words, little dreams only bring out a little of your potential and a little of your motivation. But when you dream big, the very best is sucked out of you and available for use.

Of course, there are always those cynics who say, “What if I dream big and fail? I’ll be disappointed.” True enough, but as financial expert Andrew Tobias would answer, “Even if you don’t always achieve 100% of your audacious goals, you’re probably doing better than if you set milder goals.”

Absolutely! Without big dreams, you’ll never experience great joy, great victories, and great accomplishments. Your life and your work will only be mediocre at best.

That’s why Michelangelo Buonarrito, the world-famous Italian Renaissance painter and sculptor, said, “The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

Once you’ve got a big dream…

=> 4. Turn your dreams into goals.

Your dreams are the WHERE of your life … WHERE you’re going. But you also need a HOW … HOW you’re going to get there. That’s where goals come into place.

Goals give FOCUS to your dreams. They tell you HOW to make your dreams come true. Goals get you to act like a focused rifle instead of a splattering shotgun.

Perhaps you remember the Dan Akroyd movie, “The Great Outdoors,” where a large bear breaks into a cabin. The children are screaming; Akroyd is madly waving an iron from the fireplace, and the bear is slowly backing everybody up the stairs. Then someone blasts a shotgun that merely blows the fur off the bear’s butt, and the bear runs off unharmed.

As some of you know, a shotgun filled with pellets won’t stop a bear. As the tiny pellets fly through the air, they spread out and lose their power. The blast is unfocused, which makes it easier to hit a small target, such as a duck or clay pigeon, but it’s almost worthless against a bear. For that you need a rifle that only fires one bullet at a time, where all the energy is focused on that one bullet. The focus is what makes it powerful.

Goals can be attacked in very much the same way. If you’ve got a small dream that only requires small goals to accomplish, it doesn’t take much time, energy, or focus to finish them off. Even a half-hearted effort will accomplish your goals. But if you’ve got a big dream, you’ll need to use the power of FOCUS. You’ll need to FOCUS … really focus … on WHAT you’re going to do and HOW you’re going to do it … until your dreams come to life.

Dr. Denis Waitley, the motivational author, writes about the power of focused goals. He says, “The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, learn about them, or even seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.”

Goals also give TIMELINES to your dreams. As Harvey MacKay, the author of “Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive,” notes, “A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline.”

In other words, without clear goals and deadlines for your dreams, you may waste your whole life waiting for the right time to get started on your dreams. You may live your whole life in “Never-Never Land” or the world of “Make Believe.”

Get a dream … yes. Turn your dream into specific goals … yes. But put a timeline or deadline on each of those goals so you get off the couch and actually do something.

Andrew Carnegie learned that secret at the beginning of the 19th century. His dream was to make the most money in the shortest time … and then spend the rest of his life giving it away. And that’s exactly what he did … giving away 90% of his fortune, planting 2800 libraries across the United States, and starting Carnegie-Mellon University. He had a dream … to improve the educational system in America. He had a goal to make his dream come true … to make lots of money so he could start libraries and universities. And he put a timeline on his … so it all got done in a timely fashion.

Of course, all this talk about dreams and goals might seem a bit far-fetched for some of you. You may be having a hard time making ends meet, and you can barely cope with today … let alone dream about tomorrow. If that sounds like you, then at the very least, I strongly urge you to…

=> 5. Find meaning in your work.

No matter what kind of work you do, find meaning in your work. You simply cannot work day in and day out, year after year, thinking your work is meaningless, giving it a ho-hum effort, and feel good about yourself or your life. You’ve got to do your work with so much enthusiasm and so much excellence that you can’t help but feel a sense of pride, purpose, and ownership.

In fact, that’s exactly what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. used to preach. He would say, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

When your find meaning in your work, chances are you’ll even live longer. A European study that tracked 16,827 people for 12 years found that those who retired early had a 51% higher mortality rate than those who kept working. And according to a 2005 study that followed 3500 Shell Oil employees, those who retired at 55 were twice as likely to die during the next 10 years as people the same age who continued to work.

According to Dr. Robert N. Butler, the founding director of the National Institute on Aging, says, “Even if your job is not the greatest, accomplishment — and most important, income — can provide an ongoing sense of purpose.” He says a job is the easiest way to help you feel your life has purpose, so try to stay with it as long as you can.

Action:  To clarify your dream, ask yourself what you would do if you could not fail. And ask yourself what you would do if money was no problem.

My Future Ambition (Sample Essay)

https://unsplash.com/photos/A6QEpNxE8uo

While growing up every kid and teenager dreams about what they want to become in the future. We all have different ambitions in life and they usually keep on changing as we keep on growing. Our ambitions define how we act and behave by providing aim to our lives. An ambitious person is much more focused and attentive as compared to a person with no aim in life. Inspiration and influence are the driving forces behind the ambition. People want to become like those who influence and inspire them. I also have the ambition to become a medical doctor someday.  In this future ambition essay, I will discuss why I have a strong desire to become a doctor and who is the source of influence for me.

My Future Ambition Essay Example – 700 Word Long Essay

Everyone has a goal and ambition in life. As kids, we all dreamt about what we wanted to become in the future. People usually dream of being rich, living a good life, and owning a huge company, but for me, my ambition is to help humanity by becoming a doctor. My ambition in life is to be the best doctor and serve my community. As a doctor, I will serve my people by offering important medical services to save their lives. I will help the sick and needy patients no matter what their financial position is. Even if my patients could not afford my fee I will help them without asking for money. Unlike doctors nowadays who ask for large sums of money, I will help needy people on the basis of humanity and their smiles will be my fee.

A good doctor gives hope and encourages patients to look at the bright side of life. When I become a doctor, I will help the poor and the needy and will volunteer my services to ease their problems. My ambition of becoming a doctor gives me a sense of direction in life. Being a doctor means studying hard and getting good grades to go to the best medical school. For me becoming a doctor is not just a career, it is a symbol of joy and hope.

The journey is not easy, it requires a lot of sacrifices, but I have confidence that I will become a successful doctor. I will make a difference in my community by treating needy patients and educating poor students for free. I will treat my patient with respect and ensure that patients feel comfortable at all times. I will not ask for huge sums of money even for rich patients because it’s unfair to do so. I wish that I would one day fulfill my dreams to serve my community.

My ambition to become a doctor is not only my dream but also my parents’ dream. They see the potential in me and want me to progress towards achieving my ambition. I remember my grandmother died from cancer because my parents could not afford the treatment expense. My father wept for months after my grandmother passed away and blamed himself because he had no money. I saw my father in pain and agony and I don’t want that to happen to anyone ever again. My father is also proud of my ambition and he appreciates all my efforts to achieve this goal.

When I was a little boy, I always wanted to help those in need. I liked volunteering my services. During my free time, I would take care of my old grandmother who encouraged me to consider a career in medicine. Initially, I thought of being a singer because I loved singing, but I never considered being a doctor because it required much dedication. As I grew up and met many people in need of medical services, therefore I reshaped my ambition and left every other thing aside. I realized that I had the potential of becoming a doctor after I attended my first training as a volunteer at a local hospital. The experience changed my life.

After volunteering at the local hospital, I received positive feedback from the supervisor who recommended me for an exchange program. The program enabled me to get the chance to study medicine in one of the prestigious medical schools in the US. I try to do my best to become a good doctor by studying hard. I have many plans after I complete my studies and become a successful doctor. I also made a vow to myself that I would be faithful to my duties and respectful to my ambition.

People always ask kids and teens about what they want to become in the future once they grow up. At some time in life, we all have wondered about our future ambitions in life. What we want to achieve or become is mostly influenced by the people and things that surround us. Children and teenagers want to become like people who inspire and influence them. Our ambition gives us purpose in life and we all want to become like someone. For me, I have an ambition of becoming a great dancer someday.

As a kid, I always asked myself: “That is ambition important in life?” I realized that ambition depends upon our interest, choice, and our role model in life. I had an interest in dancing and my role model was none other than Michael Jackson. From that day onwards I made dancing my future ambition and started practicing every day to improve my skill. Another reason I chose this as my future ambition is that everyone only wants to become a doctor or engineer. I want to remove this negative stigma when it comes to choosing passion over money.

Why I Chose this Ambition?

It seems odd to people that I have chosen to become a dancer. I chose dancing because it lets me express myself, I feel relieved, and all my stress goes away. I also like the crowd groans when they are just amazed to see you move and I start feeling good about myself.

Other than all that dancing teaches us many life lessons of hard work, patience, determination, and consistency. These lessons don’t just make you a better dancer but also a better person in life. Through this ambition, I also want to eliminate all the negative stigmas associated with a creative career path. I want to tell people that engineers, lawyers, doctors, and scientists are not the only four professions in the world.

In Conclusion, everyone should be free to choose his/her ambition in life. Just like my parents, all parents should allow their children to choose any profession they want to. On the other hand, teenagers should also get good grades to enter their profession without a problem.

My plans for future

Ambition and choice are two words with different meaning. Ambition is imaginary while choice is based on certain reasons. However, the meanings derived in some cases of the words ambition and choice are the same. Now-a-days to choose a profession is not an easy task. It should be done with great care because the success of life depends upon the right choice.

I was keenly interest in Biology when I was a student of High school. My father is doctor. Ever since my childhood. I wanted to become a doctor to serve mankind. The first and foremost duty of a doctor is to serve humanity. He should have a sympathetic attitude. A doctor spends his time, energy and skill to curve the sick, in preventing diseases and soothing pain. He must be ready to extend his service at any time. In fact, a doctor is the servant of suffering humanity. That is why on my father’s advice I have selected this profession for myself in the light of above merits, I am keen to adopt this profession.

After passing Intermediate, I shall go to Lucknow to attend coaching classes for C.P.M.T. I am confident that I shall be selected in my first attempt. Then I shall be admitted to I year class of M.B.B.S. After taking my degree of M.B.B.S., I shall be bound to serve in any rural area for at least two years. Then I have decided that I shall start my own clinic in my town. My ambition is to give relief to the ailing people and a ray of hope to the disappointed people, life is the sole right of God. Man cannot give life to the dead. He can only relieve him from paints. So, I will do my best in this field.

I shall charge no visiting fee from the poor people. Poor people who are unable to pay money, shall get medicines free from my clinic. Once a week I shall go to a village. I shall examine the patients free of charge and give them medicines there. I shall also advise them how they can keep their village clean and how they can get rid of diseases. In the same way, twice a week I shall call on the people and tell them about causes of different diseases and the secret of good health. I may attach myself with some social organization to serve the people free of cost.

I have decided that I shall satisfy all the patients with my sympathetic attitude, gentlemanly manners, kind and loving behavior, keen observation, testing and the best prescription and guidance.
