Schemes of Work for teaching RE to all key stages

We know that planning schemes of work is a laborious and time consuming job for busy teachers, which is why we have created ready-to-use schemes made up of 35 units for Primary schools and 15 units for Secondary schools.

You can view the full list of units here .

Units include lots of teaching and learning ideas, links to useful resources, learning outcomes and assessment guidance and suggestions. Each unit offers on average eight hours of classroom ideas.

We have created these units of work to support its syllabus model A, currently in use in a number of local authorities. However, they offer a resource to support you in teaching RE wherever you are in the country, even if your syllabus is not an RE Today model.

Our Schemes of Work are a resource offering a range of ideas for your classroom. They do not supersede your agreed syllabus.

Check out our handy guide to planning with RE Today units of work to support you in deciding whether these schemes will work for you and your school.

As these are external third-party websites we are unable to remedy this. The schemes of work are not lesson plans, and do not contain PPTs alongside the content.

RE Today is not responsible for content on external websites. Links were active and correct at time of publication, but they do not always last. Please do check content etc before passing on to students/using in the classroom. Enough information is provided with links for teachers to search for a suitable alternative should links break

RE Scheme 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Scheme of Work for Primary RE

Introduction.

This new Diocesan scheme of work has evolved from the previous scheme that was first published in 2014. It takes account of much of the thinking that has been happening over the last few years.

Please note that the scheme is not yet complete. More units and recoruces will be added over the coming months.

The scheme suggests the Understanding Christianity resource units that may be taught in place of the scheme’s units. It also references the proposed National Statement of Entitlement that has been included in the Religious Educations Councils latest Curriculum Resource document: https://religiouseducationcouncil.org.uk/resource/worldviews-resource-draft/

A copy of the Statement of Entitlement is included at the end of the scheme overview.

This scheme is not presented as a finished piece of work. A curriculum in any subject needs to be continually evolving and adapting to new developments, cohorts and contexts. Every school is different. Some of you will be teaching in mixed classes, some of which will also be mixed phase. This will mean that units need to be adapted. There are also different syllabuses that you need to follow. Some will require a broader range of religious tradition than others. Some will specify in which year groups certain religions are to be taught.

The scheme no longer links units to specific terms withing the year. Each year group has three units focused on Christianity, two focused on a second worldview and a philosophy unit that gives the opportunity to teachers to revisit learning about a range of worldviews, including Christianity. This is going to be the best unit for exploring non-religious worldviews.

The vision for this scheme is that it will be a collaborative project. Anyone who adapts a unit, completely rewrites a unit or provides a unit that doesn’t already exist is invited to send it in.

The scheme already contains intent, implementation, and impact statements, as well as a core knowledge building blocks chart. Development work will continue through the academic year 2024-25, with the creation of some units for the new syllabuses that are being produced, as well as some knowledge organisers and sample resurces. .

RE curriculum key stage 3

Example schemes of work and other resources for teaching religious education at key stage three.

It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin, barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it. Jacob Bronowski (1908-1974)

In the new syllabus, you will be expected to teach the following units over the course of key stage 3; the order that the units are taught is up to the individual school. The schemes posted here contain examples of how the material can be delivered.

or (This example focuses on the Buddha; you could also look at the founders of a range of religions)

3 Methods to Design Your Shopify Landing Page

1. create a page directly from your shopify admin.

The easiest way to create a Shopify landing page is by designing a regular page yourself, following basic landing page principles. Here’s how:

  • Go to the Shopify dashboard and select 'Online Store.'
  • Click on 'Pages' from the dropdown menu.
  • Click 'Add Page.'

Create a Page Directly from Your Shopify Admin

Now, you can build a basic Shopify landing page with photos, videos, and relevant material for your offer. You can also create specific product collections for your PPC campaigns to show more targeted post-click pages.

However, this method is limited in functionality and may yield a lower conversion rate . It's a straightforward option for simple announcements and promotions without coding or extra tools. For better results, we recommend trying one of the following two options.

2. Customize Landing Page Templates with Liquid Code

Customize Landing Page Templates with Liquid Code

If you're comfortable with Liquid, Shopify's coding language, or have access to a developer, you can design custom landing page templates for your store.

Building custom landing pages with Liquid involves much work, so we won't go into all the details here. Instead, you can refer to Shopify developer  Liam Griffin's guide , which covers everything you need.

The advantage of making a custom landing page template is that you can tailor each section in the theme editor with your chosen content, products, and images.

However, if you need multiple landing pages for different purposes, you'll have to build a separate template for each one, each with its unique sections. Otherwise, any changes you make to one template will affect all landing pages.

3. Utilize a Shopify Landing Page Builder

Using a landing page builder lets you create high-converting landing pages without coding skills or hiring a developer. For Shopify, many landing page builders are available through a monthly subscription, so you don’t need to spend much money upfront to get started.

One such app is  EComposer . It allows you to build up a professional digital store without any coding skills. It offers 300 templates for landing pages, homepages, and product pages, plus over 100 drag-and-drop elements to customize and personalize your store.

5.89% is the average conversion rate of a landing page, but your design can affect how close you get to this number. The most effective landing pages are responsive, use visuals to separate text, and undergo A/B testing to achieve the best outcomes.

Creating a Shopify landing page involves several steps, but they should feel manageable as you get started. When designing and writing your page, always keep your target audience in mind to ensure it resonates with your ideal customer.

Use the strategies and tips we've discussed through successful examples to create a page that effectively attracts and converts visitors. Remember, it takes a lot of work to get everything right on your first attempt, so keep testing and refining your landing page to find the perfect combination that encourages more clicks and brings in more customers.
