My Favourite Person: 100 Words

My most favourite person is Rajiv sir. He teaches us English. He has such a charming and friendly personality. He teaches us with love and care. I respect him a lot for his excellent command over the subject. To me, he is a friend, philosopher and guide.

He inspires us to speak in English and to take part in sports, cultural activities and social work. He never gets angry when we make mistakes. Due to his teaching my marks in English improved a lot. I have come across many good persons in my life of fifteen years. I like some of them and dislike many others. But one person I like in particular. He is my neighbour and my father’s friend. There are thousands of people in this world who have become famous for their work and contribution, but to me, my favourite personality is my father. My father is the greatest inspiration for me. He is the one who helps me to tackle every difficult situation. With his guidance, impossible things seem possible to me. With him around, I always feel protected. He helps me with my studies. My father is also a great teacher because I never seem to forget whatever he teaches me for my school homework and exams. Whenever I do something wrong, he never scolds me but explains to me where I went wrong. My father is my role model.

200 Words Essay On My Favourite Personality

If I had to choose my favourite personality, it would be my father. Let me explain why I consider my father my role model:-

He is one and all for me. He is jovial, that is, he always makes me laugh. He helps me in fulfilling my goals. I consider him my role model.

I can talk to him freely without any fear of being scolded. He is always kind, polite and friendly with me.

My father always tells me about the positive and negative aspects of situations and encourages me to make my own decisions.

My father is my favourite personality. He has been a constant source of inspiration and guidance in my life. He is a man of great integrity and a hard worker who has always led by example. He is the one who taught me the importance of honesty, responsibility and the value of hard work.

I remember a real-life incident from my childhood that perfectly illustrates the kind of person my father is. When I was around 10 years old, my family and I were on a trip to a nearby city. We were shopping in a mall when I saw a toy that I really wanted. I begged my father to buy it for me, but he refused, saying that we had already spent enough money on the trip. I was disappointed, but I didn't understand why he was being so strict.

After we left the mall, my father took me aside and explained that we didn't have a lot of money, and that every purchase we made needed to be carefully considered. He had taught me the importance of being responsible with money, and had helped me to develop a sense of financial literacy that has served me well throughout my life.

My father has always been there for me, providing guidance and support whenever I needed it. He has taught me the importance of being a good person, of treating others with respect, and of always doing the right thing, even when it's difficult. He is a true role model, and I am so grateful to have him as my father.

In addition to being an amazing father, my dad is also an incredible husband and provider for our family. He always puts his family first and works hard to make sure that we have everything we need. He is a great listener and always has wise advice to offer when I am struggling with something. He is a great cook and loves to spend time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes. He is also a fitness enthusiast and encourages us to stay active and healthy. He is always the first one up in the morning, ready to start his day and the last one to go to bed. He is truly a selfless and dedicated person who always puts the needs of his family before his own.

One of the things that I admire most about my father is his work ethic. He is a businessman and runs his own company. He works incredibly hard to ensure the success of his business and to provide for our family. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that his clients are satisfied, and he is highly respected in the business community. He taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance and that nothing comes easy.

My father is also an incredibly compassionate and caring person. He has always been involved in various social causes and volunteer work. In this article, we’ll look at how to write a descriptive paragraph about a person, share some examples, and talk about different strategies.

1. Brainstorm Your Ideas

Brainstorming is crucial to any writing process. It’s the process in which you think of ideas for what you’d like to write about. In this case, you’re writing a descriptive paragraph about a person. It’s important to use adjectives to describe the features or characteristics you want to focus on.

One way to come up with ideas for a descriptive paragraph about a person is to go through the five senses. Use the questions below to get some ideas for what you want to highlight about your person.

Appeal to your reader’s senses – smell, taste, sound, sight, and touch

Smell: How does the person smell? Do they wear perfume? Are they doing an activity that would make them have a certain smell?

Taste: Do you associate a certain food with this person? Does it make you think of a specific taste? Can you taste something due to a certain smell they have?

Sound: Do they have a unique voice or laugh? Are they doing an activity that has distinctive sounds?

Sight: What prominent features do they have? For example, think about their dressing style, their smile, or their surroundings. What do you see them doing in your mind when you see a photo of them? What memories do you have of this person? Does this person remind you of something or someone?

Touch: What textures do you see? For example, imagine their skin or clothing. How does it feel if you hug them?

2. Begin With a Short and Snappy Sentence

Like with any type of writing, you want to hook your reader so that they want to continue reading. In this case, you can use a topic sentence, if appropriate, to introduce your reader to the person. For example:

Or, if you want to be more creative, you can reel them in with a short and snappy sentence about this person. This is called a writing hook . This sentence should focus on a stand-out detail or characteristic about the person you’re describing. For example:

Now, this is the hard part. But, if you’ve brainstormed plenty of ideas and know which ones you want to focus on, it will be easier. Let’s look at some examples to get a better idea of how to write a descriptive paragraph about a person using the prompt “describe a person you admire.”

Comments: This paragraph is pretty typical of most students. It gives lots of visual details of the person and uses a simile or two (“ Her eyes are like the color of honey” and “Her smile shines like the sun” ). While this strategy gets the job done, it’s not very exciting to read. In fact, it can be quite boring!

Comments: In this example, we focused on one defining characteristic of the person we are describing — her laugh. This strategy places more focus on the person you’re describing, rather than the adjectives you use to describe them.

4. Edit and Revise

After you write your descriptive paragraph, be sure to read it over. Read it out loud. Read it in a funny voice. Doing this will help you to hear the words and identify which parts do not work or sound awkward.

5. General Tips for Descriptive Writing

● Avoid using too many descriptive words.

● Remember to show the reader, not tell.

● Appeal to the reader’s five senses – smell, touch, taste, sight, and sound.

● Focus on a striking or defining characteristic.

● Use contrasting details from other people or surroundings for emphasis.

● Use literary devices (metaphors, similes etc.) sparingly and with intention.

My mother is the most confusing, weird, insane, and strangest person i know; she is also the most beautiful, caring, loving, and strongest figure in my life. She loves learning, and has been supportive in my diseases. She has taught me so many things about a natural lifestyles that I keep in mind day to day. I have many inspirational people that surround me, but my mother’s crazy, creative, and supporting personality has made her my favorite person in the world. Just sitting with her brings me comfort. She smells of sweet coconut and her skin is warm and soft like soft cashmere. I love her laugh, and how her eyes shine optimistically and full of life. She has a way of making those crazy and stressful days melt away and leaves your soul content. Even when others speak ill of her, I never hear her returning such words. Right now she is miles away, yet I call her and her voice is as warm as her embrace. There is people in this world who deserve an award, and she is one of them. The way she has grown in the past few years astounds me. I can see it in her actions that she is stronger than i have ever seen her, and each time i see her she looks more beautiful than she did before. She is no ordinary woman. She dances around the house with the grace of a fish out of water, and she gets away with it. She remembers only parts of songs and movies, I found it irritating; but now all I want is to hear her sing her fragmented songs and dance all the time. My favorite memory of her is playing card games, we would play using weird accents that must be a cross between Russian, and Icelandic. I’m not sure anyone else could understand us, and frankly I am pretty sure someone would send us to Essandale if they were to see us. Particularly when we cooked a meal together and turned on the music, then the magic would really happen. Those are the memories I hold dear.I applaud my mother for her strength. My family tells me that I am like her, and if I am anything like her than I would not complain. Having a child at 18 can't be easy, growing up I know she always tried her hardest to be thebest mother she could be. Having a child with 3 diseases must have taken a pretty big toll on her, yet she learned all she could about them and provided the supportive lifestyle I needed to not let these diseases take control of me. She always tries to make the best out of a bad situation, and she has known her fare share of that. Even with battles of her own she would wipe her tears away and take away my sorrows. She has taught me so much, one thing I appreciate the most is her interest in natural products. Her interest has also brought a great many memories that I will never forget. She was starting to get into natural shampoo products,I believe she tried washing her hair with eggs and rinsing it with baking soda. She came out with her hair looking like Frankenstein, it really did feel like wire. She even tried to put oil in it to fix it, it made no difference. My mom has tried so many things, although many of her attempts did not work as planned she never stopped. Among one of her attempts was a body wash, it ended up as a lumpy concoction that looked that like glue and tapioca beads. She went on to create my favorite rejuvenating body wash with fresh mint and sweet thyme, and every time I smell it think of her. She has so many books on natural home remedies, that I am very thankful for. But the way she studies for hours and keeps going is truly epic, she is always eager to learn more and is very determined. Through life we learn lessons, most of them are through people we meet and situations we endeavour. I think its the small things learned that make the difference in life. I learned so many things from her, and together they have made me who I am today. She may not be the most patient at times, but she has been very patient with me. My mother is my favorite person. They say a parents love just happens, I believe different. She has carved herself into my heart with a silken blade. Love and Respect cannot just be forced upon a person, but is a process like any relationship that is done with patience, acceptance, and frustration. I know I will be successful in my life, because of her. I have learned never to give up, even when the world is against you. Because of her compassion and forgiveness , I have come to know a lust for life and to feel content even when the worlds a blur.

As a student, everyone excels in some subjects and not in the others. Of course, there are some students who do well in all of them, but that number is low. However, almost every student has a favourite subject. It does not matter if it’s related to academics or arts.

Personally, my favorite subject is English. I have always scored well on the subject because I understand it well. It makes learning effortless and I always manage to get good marks. There are other subjects I like too but English definitely tops my list. I never get bored of it and am always ready to study it.

Reason For Favouritism

There are many reasons as to why I enjoy studying English. The major one is that it enhances my reading skills. Ever since my childhood, my mother has always read stories to me. So, I developed a habit of reading and listening to stories. As my reading skills get polished through English, it helps me in other subjects too. I grasp the concepts better through reading.

Furthermore, through English, I developed a knack for writing. I absolutely enjoy writing essays and articles. It is only through English, that I started writing my own work. This helps me in forming incredible answers for other subjects as well. It gives me the experience to use accurate words and sentences to convey my message better.

Most importantly, I love fictional stories in English. I love how it always has some lessons in them to learn. They also apply in real life and help me make wise decisions. The stories in English novels and plays always keeps me entertained. It also enhances my imagination powers.

A Scoring Subject

English is definitely a scoring subject which makes it even more special for me. I am an average student who does not take much interest in Science. I manage to get decent marks in the subjects, but in English, I score well. When we compare English to other subjects, we see it is most scoring.

English does not demand word to word answers. It gives the child a chance to play with words. It gives them the creative liberty to speak their minds out. For instance, in Maths, you cannot create your own formulas. You must copy the same exact one taught in the syllabus. But, in English, we can compose our own answers based on our understanding and intelligence.

In addition, English teachers are usually more approachable and understanding. In other subjects, the teachers always have to stick by the book and literally make students mug up the formulas and theories. The English teacher takes time to make them understand each phrase. They allow the students to interpret it as per their intellect. This empowers the child too so they can put their own thinking in it.

In short, I absolutely love English. It gives me the chance to excel without putting too much pressure on me. I get to play with words and form my own interpretations. This helps me get the creative freedom I do not get in other subjects.

I am a student of 10th Class of a reputed private school. There are many great teachers in my school but everyone has that one teacher they are especially grateful to. Likewise, my favourite teacher is Mr Manish Khandelwal Sir. Manish Sir teaches us Maths, and he has a really attractive personality. He is very polite and humble and we all the students love him. He is also a person trusted the most by parents and teachers, as he constantly strives in creating a balanced environment in working hard at academics and having fun doing so.

Qualities of My Favorite Teacher

Manish Sir is tall and quite good looking. He is 32 years old and very experienced. His way of teaching is excellent. He believes in simple living and high thinking. All the students love him for his superb way of teaching and humble behaviour. He has an experience of 9 years in education, and he has done masters in Mathematics. He easily solves complicated mathematical equations.

He has a unique way of explaining his methods of solving problems. This way, he makes even the most complex of problems look simple and makes it very easy to understand for all students. He has all favourite teacher qualities in him, and has an exceptional amount of patience, which is one of the reasons why everyone considers him as the best teacher. He explains every question or doubt with so much patience and clarity and makes sure you understand them thoroughly.

He has an excellent command of English and unlike most teachers out there for whom writing impositions, formulas and theorems are important, he focuses more on logical reasoning rather than memorising complicated equations. He is very disciplined and punctual and ensures that we follow these principles as well. He understands the importance of time and always comes on time. He possesses many of such appreciable qualities which are commendable and highly appreciated by students who want to pursue these qualities as well.

He is very enthusiastic but he is not too pushy and allows us to make the decisions on our own. He perfectly understands the balance between study and extracurricular activities and helps us stay on track with both. He believes in the overall development of the students and thus encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities.

He prepares students for Maths olympiads so that their confidence can be boosted and they excel in a complex subject like Maths. Under his guidance, many students have won prizes in Maths olympiads, and even I have scored the highest marks securing the first position in many Maths competitions. He is an asset to our school as he has played a massive role in improving the overall image of our school including co-curricular and academic aspects and we students are fortunate to have him.

Manish Sir is my favourite teacher because he is very humble, kind and polite. I love his way of teaching. He loves all students and doesn't believe in punishing them. He focuses more on conceptual clarity than burdening students with excessive homeworks. He never scolds students and never expresses his concerns in the form of anger. Instead, he talks to the students personally in a calm manner, in a way that helps us improve and wants to put in more effort.

He asks students to be honest with him and always gives equal attention to all the students. He never makes fun of any students and gives extra attention to the weak students. Whenever a student fails to understand any question or equation, he puts extra effort to make him understand, and never tends to lose patience. He calmly explains no matter how many times he has to repeat the same question or statement. He is focused on making us understand every concept with utmost clarity and that is the reason why all students love him.

One of my most favourite qualities of Manish sir is that he keeps track of every student in the class; how they are performing or what are the things they are good at. He constantly keeps an eye out for everyone in the class and helps them to improve themselves and guides them throughout the learning process. He is one of the best teachers in our school who keeps constantly motivating their students and guiding them in all spheres of life. Manish sir is especially known for not showing even the tiniest amount of favouritism. He treats all his students with an equal amount of fondness and love and cares for every one of us deeply.

We students love to attend his class because he is very understanding. He covers each topic in detail and gives his full attention in class. He would just suggest an alternative method or a simpler explanation instead of blaming the student for not paying enough attention to the class. He knows how to draw students' attention in class. He never assigns us too much homework, and after class, he provides us with regular assignments to assess our understanding of a particular topic.

The assignments are often designed to be more informative and research-oriented rather than just making us write down questions or paragraphs from the book and memorise them. By actually going through related articles and books, we gain a greater amount of knowledge and this way, we tend to remember what we learn for a long time as well.

In case if any student fails to do the assignment or performs poorly in a particular chapter, he doesn't shout at them but instead makes them understand the concept again. This way, we students understand that whatever he is doing is for our own benefit and we tend to work harder to improve ourselves. These are a few of the things he does that makes him different from the other teachers and appears approachable to everyone around him. I have never seen a humble and polite teacher like him, and one day I will try to be like him in my career.

Manish Sir is not just a great teacher but also my ideal person. He has all the favourite teacher qualities, and everyone loves him. I am lucky to be his student, and I will always follow his principles in my life. Even after leaving this school, he will remain my favourite teacher, and I will never forget him. I will always remember what he has taught me through example, and I will try to be a great person like him in the future.

Essay 2 (400 Words) – My Favourite Sportsperson: Saina Nehwal

I am fond of playing badminton. It is my favourite sport which I play regularly especially during winters. Saina Nehwal is my favourite sportsperson. I love to watch her playing. The confidence and flexibility by which she plays a match inspire me.

About My favourite Sportsperson

Born on 17 March 1990 in Hisar, Haryana, Saina Nehwal is a famous badminton player. Her father Harvir Singh Nehwal was also a badminton player at the university level during his college days. He was transferred from Haryana to Hyderabad. Saina started playing badminton in Hyderabad. Her mother Usha Rani Nehwal was also a state-level Badminton player. Saina Nehwal was inspired by her mother and wanted to make her dreams true of becoming a national player so took up Badminton.

Saina Nehwal and her parents faced a lot of adversities before becoming famous badminton player. Her parents had to face a lot of problems. They made many sacrifices to support Saina financially. Her father was a government employee and received a salary in a fixed amount. This amount was not enough to support the financial requirement for the game as well as other expenditures of the family.

In spite of all problems, her parents did not move back and provided her with everything she required. The real hard work and dedication made her become the Famous Badminton player of India. Saina Nehwal is a focused player, laden with simplicity and kindness. She established many records in Badminton.

Achievements of Saina Nehwal

• Saina Nehwal has bagged up many awards and medals in Badminton.

• She has won 24 international Titles, including seven supertitles.

• She represented India thrice in the Olympics and won the Bronze medal in the second appearance.

• When she started playing she attained second ranking in the world in 2009, later in 2015 she was at the top i.e. having 1st ranking in the world. She gave a new height to India in the field of Badminton.

• She is only an Indian who has been victorious in every Badminton World Federation major individual event and won at least one medal in each. She also won gold in Commonwealth women’s singles.

• Saina Nehwal became India’s first female and youngest player of Asia to win a 4-star tournament.

• She has been awarded by Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award. She had been conferred by Padma Bhusan in 2016.

Saina Nehwal is a successful famous Indian badminton player. She gave popularity to the badminton sport in India and also won many awards and medals. She is also called the “Darling Daughter of India”.

The word favourite sportsman brings a picture of Milkha Singh to my mind. I had a great liking for this sport as well as a sportsman from the beginning but was much impressed after watching the movie “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” which has been made on the life history of Milkha Singh.

The Life Story of Milkha Singh

The life of Milkha Singh is very was full of misery. He faced a lot of troubles in his childhood. He was born on 21st November 1929 as stated by records of Pakistan. In actual his birth date is uncertain. The place of his birth was Govindpura, a village 10 km from Muzaffargarh district which is now situated in Pakistan. The whole family of Milkha Singh was killed in the violence that arose during the partition, except him and a sister who had been married and was staying in Delhi. Milkha Sigh had witnessed the killing of his whole family and manages to escape to save himself. He came to India from Pakistan. He spent some years at his sister’s house as no one was left except a sister.

He was totally depressed because he was orphaned and left with no motive in his life. Later he was guided by Malkhan Singh to apply for the Indian Army recruitment. He also got selected over there. It was then he realized his own talent and capability of fast running. He was not selected when he first tried for 200m and 400m races. The second time he won the race and then was selected for the training.

Awards and Achievements

Milkha Singh won many awards for our country and also represented India in international games.
He was the first Indian male individual to win a gold medal for athletics in commonwealth games in Independent India.
He represented India in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He tried his best to win the race of 400 and 200 metres and performed well in the initial rounds but could not win in the final round. He was able to learn from his mistake and also inspired by the other champions of the game. According to him, he lost the game but learnt a lot from it.
He won gold medals for 400m and 200m race in Asian games in 1958 and 1962. He also made a record for 200m and 400m track in the same event.
He represented India in Rome Olympics in 1960 and the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. He lost the race in Rome Olympics by a very minute difference of time i.e. 0.1 seconds.
In 1960, he raced against Abdul Khaliq in Pakistan and won the race. He was conferred the title of “Flying Sikh” by the Pakistan General Ayub Khan.
He has been awarded by Padma Shri in 1958 and later with Arjuna award in 2001, but he refused to accept Arjuna award as this must be given to young sportsmen who really deserve to be honoured.

Later, Milkha Singh got married to Nirmal Kaur, former team captain of the Indian Volleyball team. He was promoted to Joint Commission Officer from the post of a subedar. He was given the position of director of sports in the Punjab Ministry of Education and retired from that post in 1998.

Many people including me are inspired by the life of Milkha Singh. He was a man of courage. His entire life was full of misery. He suffered a lot in his childhood, but a salute to his courage and talent. There are many people who chose the wrong path in adverse conditions. We also get a lesson to learn from our mistakes. According to Milkha Singh success cannot be achieved by shortcuts. It requires hard work, motivation and proper guidance.

Milkha Singh is the pride of our nation. He made remarkable achievements in Athletics. “The Race of Life” is an autobiography of Milkha Singh and further a movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was made on his life which was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
