Students are often asked to write an essay on Favourite Holiday Destination in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Favourite Holiday Destination

My best holiday spot.

Everyone has a place they love to visit. For me, it’s the beach. The beach is my favorite holiday destination because it is full of fun and relaxation.

Why the Beach?

The beach makes me happy. I can play in the sand, swim in the sea, and build sandcastles. The sound of waves is calming, and the sunsets are beautiful.

There’s so much to do! Besides swimming, I can collect shells, play volleyball, or have a picnic. Sometimes, there are boats to ride too.

Family Time

Going to the beach means spending time with my family. We laugh, play games, and enjoy the outdoors together. It’s always a trip to remember.

250 Words Essay on Favourite Holiday Destination

My favourite holiday spot, sun, sand, and sea.

Goa is famous for its stunning beaches. The soft sand feels nice under your feet, and the sea is great for swimming. I love building sandcastles and looking for pretty shells. The sunsets there are amazing too, with the sky turning all shades of orange and pink.

Fun Activities

There’s no chance of getting bored in Goa. You can try water sports like jet skiing or parasailing. If you like adventure, these activities are thrilling. For those who prefer calm, a boat trip to see dolphins might be perfect. I always make sure to do something exciting when I visit.

Delicious Food

Goa is also known for tasty food. There are many small restaurants where you can eat fresh seafood. I especially enjoy the fish curry. It’s spicy and full of flavor, a must-try for anyone visiting.

Warm People

The people in Goa are friendly and welcoming. They always greet you with a smile and are happy to help with anything you need. This makes the holiday even more pleasant.

In conclusion, Goa is my top choice for a holiday destination. It has everything you could want: beautiful beaches, fun activities, good food, and kind people. It’s a place where you can make happy memories that will last forever.

500 Words Essay on Favourite Holiday Destination

Introduction to my favourite holiday spot, the beauty of goa.

Goa is famous for its beautiful beaches. The sea looks like a big, shiny blue sheet that stretches as far as your eyes can see. The sand is soft and warm, perfect for building sandcastles or just lying down to soak up the sun. In the mornings, the beaches are quiet, and you can see fishermen taking their boats out into the sea. The evenings are full of life with people playing games, eating snacks, and listening to music.

There’s never a dull moment in Goa. You can try exciting water sports like jet-skiing, parasailing, and banana boat rides. If you love adventures, you can go on boat trips to see dolphins or even visit spice farms where you can learn about different spices and how they grow. For those who enjoy history, old churches and forts tell stories from hundreds of years ago. The most famous church is the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which is very old and holds the remains of a saint named Francis Xavier.

Cultural Festivals

Goa is also known for its colorful festivals. The most famous one is the Carnival, where people wear bright costumes, dance to music, and have parades. There are also other festivals like the Feast of St. Francis Xavier and the Goa Food and Cultural Festival. These events show the rich culture of Goa and are a lot of fun to watch and be a part of.

In conclusion, Goa is a place that has something for everyone. Whether you like relaxing on the beach, trying new foods, learning about history, or joining in on fun festivals, you will find it all here. It’s a place that makes you feel welcome and leaves you with memories that you will cherish forever. This is why Goa is my favourite holiday destination, and I always look forward to going back.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

I spent the last two weeks of my summer vacation last year with my family in Mombasa. Mombasa is a coastal town in Kenya, East Africa. When we arrived at the Moi International Airport in the town, we were hit by a blast of hot, humid air and I prepared myself mentally for the tropical coastal weather conditions I heard could make your skin feel leathery. We were all excited, not only we were set to enjoy the majestic Indian Ocean; it was also our first time in Africa. On our way to the hotel room, we all stared out of the window, trying to take in as much as we could.

Mombasa was a relatively small town, it certainly did not have the tall and grandesque buildings I was accustomed to. Its architectural style was Arabic and we were informed by the taxi driver that Mombasa was historically an important town in the Arab trade along the Indian Ocean coast. The Arabic influence was evident everywhere: the buildings; style of dress; the cuisine; and the language. We were informed that the main language spoken was Swahili, which was a Bantu language with heavy Arabic influence.

We had an amazing meal for dinner at the hotel. We were treated to the local coastal cuisine. We had some ‘pilau’ which was basically rice cooked in a rich array of spices like cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds and black pepper. There was also a beef stew which was cooked steeped in coconut milk. Indeed, I ate up all my food and asked for more. The cuisine was once again a testament to the town’s Arabic roots and orientation.

The following morning we left the hotel with our tour guide ready for a big day in the town. Our first step was definitely the beach. The feel of the white sand beneath my feet was soft and heavenly while the tall palm trees appeared magical. I felt almost ten years old, as if I had stepped into the fantasy world of Alice in Wonderland. The Indian Ocean was serene and its waters were the loveliest shade of aquamarine I had seen. I ran towards the waters and began to splash in them. It was almost as if the ocean had been calling out to me, beckoning me to enjoy the pleasures she had to offer.

The coastal people were also warm and inviting, we made friends with a few local people we met at the beach. My parents made friends with a certain couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ali who invited us to their home for dinner. We were treated to tales about the coastal myths and also about the history of Kenya as a whole. We also learned a few basic Swahili words. Swahili is a local dialect at the Coast and is in fact the national language. The Alis informed us that there were approximately fifty two tribes in Kenya, with up to one hundred different dialects! We also visited the underground marine parks which were populated by different types of sea creatures. They were interesting, especially because some had the brightest colors and strangest shapes. We also visited some national parks and it was awesome to watch the animals in their natural habitats. There was a pride of lions playing in a tall tuft of grass and we were just in time to watch one of the lionesses hunt down a gazelle for her cubs. We were also ‘robbed’ by a group of ‘friendly’ chimpanzees who jumped into our van and took our food and water.

Our trip was spent exploring the Kenyan coast and learning the customs of the locals. I acquired several local outfits and artifacts which I absolutely loved. We were all very sad when our trip came to an end. Mombasa had been a wonderful destination, not only for the lovely scenarios and exciting excursions, but also for the cultural education we acquired.

Beach Is My Favorite Place (Essay Sample)

Table of Contents

Introduction

We all have that one place that we escape to when things get too overwhelming. Where do you go when you need to relax? This essay talks about my favorite holiday destination, the beach.

I actually wrote this piece to once again remind myself that it’s okay (and necessary!) to sometimes take a break, be reminded of what really matters in life.

Descriptive Essay Example of My Favourite Beach

We all have some favorite places that we love to visit during the holidays. The beautiful scenes that we come across are a welcome reprieve for our tired minds after a long period of work.

Finding My Zen at the Beach

For me, the beach is the best place to be. Others may think differently due to unique preferences and tastes. Personally, I find that the seaside is a unique choice for a holiday destination. There is nothing quite as calming as the bright blue hues of the ocean. The wind dances with the waves, causing them to move almost rhythmically, capturing the attention of the vacationer.

Another reason why I love the beach is that I enjoy swimming. I particularly love doing this with my friends as the company makes swimming more fun and provides a great way for us to bond.

Sunsets at the Beach

Another stunning visual to be enjoyed by the seaside is the sunset. I truly enjoy the play of colors as day transitions into night – from dainty pinks to fiery oranges, even to rich purples. I find this picturesque experience exceptionally dynamic. It makes something inside me come alive. I don’t have this experience anywhere else.

One great thing about staying at the beach is that there is something to be enjoyed during the day and during the evening. I love that the beach stays open most hours as this gives me flexibility. I can choose when I want to visit and not have to follow a strict schedule, which works well when I’m on vacation.

The Beach During Evenings

I particularly love heading out at nightfall to visit the shoreline. The beach is very calm, peaceful, tranquil, and relaxing. It helps me unwind and takes away the stress that plagues me at work. Looking at the night sky with all the bright stars and the moon causes me to feel light-hearted.

Silhouette of Man Standing Near Body of Water

The best part for me is once night sets in, I can lay in the sand and stare up at the sky. I just linger there with my toes in the soft sand and think of all the things I am grateful for. I also give thanks to the Almighty Creator who made these majestic works of art.

I can only hope that I get to do this more often. My dream is to be able to frequent the most beautiful beaches in the world, to revel in the peace that they offer.

Make Time for Rest

These days, people are so busy with work and other obligations that they forget to pause and take a breather.

The tendency for many passionate workaholics is they keep scheduling a time to take a break, only to postpone it when something urgent captures their attention. While some of these are valid reasons to reschedule, most are really just convenient excuses to stay busy.

The glorification of busyness is the sad reality that keeps people from being healthy and well. We work our bodies to death and don’t give ourselves a chance to come up for air. At some point in our lives, we have been sold a false idea of productivity: that we have to work 24/7, and that taking a break is a luxury.

Breathers should not be seen as luxuries but as necessities. Rest is actually a productivity strategy. The way to truly accomplish things excellently is to do so from a place of rest. Work smart and you check off your to-do list without the anxiety and the dread. Work hard and you will find yourself resenting the actual work because it’s just exhausting.

Related: Everything You Need to Know About Writing a Narrative Essay

Don’t wait until you are burned out before you take a break. Schedule regular timeouts for yourself and use those times to “escape” to a place that helps you take a breath. Your soul, your work and your other commitments will thank you for it.

Whether it’s the sandy beaches for you or the mountains or any other hotspot, my hope for you is that you will also be able to find your sanctuary and safe space. Believe me when I say you need it and deserve it.

200 Words Short Essay About My Favorite Place (Beach)

Where do always I go when I want to feel relaxed? My family and friends all know that I head to where the ocean is. The beach is my most favorite place on earth. There is something magical about this place that makes me feel lighter immediately.

My favorite time to go is during the summer when the beautiful colors of the sky are most vibrant. That the sunset is amazing is an understatement. I could watch the sun go down after a blazing hot day over and over again. The gradually-changing hues are a glorious sight to behold.

The beach is my favorite place to find inspiration. I often find that when I get stuck in a creative rut, the extraordinary natural elements at my favorite spots instantly rejuvenate my mental stamina. If only I could go back every week, I would. Just watching the waves move in sync with one another is the best way to recharge for me.

Relaxation is important for everyone. There are other places that I also find charming, but I’ve found my sweet spot by the seashore – I hope you find yours too.

How to Describe Your Favorite Place to Visit

For a descriptive essay on your favorite place to visit, the best trick you can use is to maximize your five senses. Think of the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and sensations your favorite place evokes. How do these make you feel? Connecting what your senses pick up to an emotion brings your reader into your world and allows them to experience the same things you have.

Before you start writing, take some time to close your eyes and imagine yourself in that favorite place. What are you doing? Who are you with? The imagery you draw out from these questions serves as the starting point of your custom essay.

Why the Beach Is a Popular Favorite Place to Describe in Essays

There’s no question about it – it’s not that hard to fall in love with the beach. There are also plenty of unforgettable seascapes around the world, so you really are spoilt for choice. You can write so much about your favorite things to do there during the day, afternoon, and evening. There are even plenty of memorable activities that you can do during sunrise and sunset.

Narrative Essay: My Favorite Summer Vacation

essay on my favourite vacation spot

Each summer is beautiful for me because I spend it with my family. I am well aware that people my age spend their summer vacations with friends, partying all the time. But, after an entire year away from my family, I must admit I would always choose to spend a summer vacation with my family rather than friends. After all, my friends are what I get back to when the vacation time ends.

If someone asks me to choose one perfect vacation that is better than all the rest, I’d have to choose my trip to the Lakedale Resort at Three Lakes, Washington. The place was perfect for a modern camper – combining an Airstream trailer rental, canvas tent and log cabins, and surrounded by three marvelous lakes.

But, this is not my favorite summer vacation just because of the location. We have visited so many wonderful places during the summers, I am pretty sure some even looked better. What I do remember is the fun.

This is probably because of the three lakes, but the choices we had for activities were so many, we couldn’t possibly do everything before we went back home. I remember how much we fought over what we are going to do. My father wants us to do group activities when we go on summer vacation because ‘’It wouldn’t be a family vacation if we don’t stick together’’.

So, if you came and watched us on our family vacations in the summer, you would see two very bored parents just sitting next to their children when they are doing some kid activities. You could also see us trout fishing with them because my dad loves fishing.

This year that I am talking about, we fought for a long time about the trout fishing activity. We wanted to do canoeing, so we agreed that they will come with us on his, and we would go fishing with them. As it turned out, we had more fun on the fishing expedition than we had canoeing. For our dad, it was the opposite.

We fell in the water because this was our first time canoeing and we had no idea what we were doing. Both my sister and I were soaking wet because we fell exactly eleven times. Since my dad has done this in the past, they had a blast!

When the time came to go fishing, we were devastated by the idea that we’d have to spend an entire day looking for trout when there were so many things we could do. I honestly preferred just sitting near the fire pit on a picnic table all day, rather than waiting for a trout to catch my father’s bait.

However, luck was on my side that day. Fishing turned out to be such a fun activity, I am now convincing my dad to do it every summer. My dad was not so lucky. He spent over five hours just waiting and waiting, got sunburned and therefore had a fever all night. After a couple of hours of no fish caught whatsoever, he kept moving towards me in the hope that he will get lucky, too. But, the fish just seemed to run away from him and catch on my fishing rod instead.

The next day we decided to be a little less active since my father already had a tough night with the fever and the stress. We stayed near the cabin and joined those organized activities like cooking on a campfire and making tie-dyed shirts. We didn’t separate for even an hour and had the times of our lives.

This was way before I left home to go study in another city. For a family who cannot stand each other and fights all the time at home, it was a miracle how well we agreed and how fun our summer vacation was. Every summer we spend together is like this now, but now it is not such a strange thing. After over half a year of being separated and not living together, we would be happy if someone put us in one room for an entire month. That year, this was the strangest and most unexpected twist.

I will always remember that summer with my family. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting about the other places and vacations, too, but this is the summer when I understood that there is nothing more important than family. Whenever a friend jokes about my summer vacationing when I tell them I won’t be joining them this year too, I just remember that summer and everything seems right.

I don’t think I’ll ever envy my friends for spending their vacation partying. I will pity them for being away from their family once again because holidays and vacations are best spent with the people you love most. What I do know at this point is that when I have my own family, I will take them to that same spot and set the same rules as my father. I hope my fishing experience will be terrible as his, and they will fall in love with it.

With a history dating back to the mid 80s, the Cherokee Survivors Motorcycle Rally & Concert carries on a southern biking tradition. Held twice a year at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds (formerly Ceremonial Grounds) in Cherokee, North Carolina, this event draws bikers from all over the United States. Situated on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, the event is only minutes away from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Parkway, and the dragon's lair at Deals gap. The event features a three-day swap meet of bike parts, leathers, jewelry, t-shirts, tattoos, music and food. Activities include a ride in bike show (weather permitting), bike games, and one of the best wet t-shirt contest in the Southeast for Miss Cherokee Survivor. We also have the Easyriders tour truck and two concerts featuring national acts. The event is held rain or shine, and there is a minimal fee for the three-day event. With that, I will tell you about my most recent time away with my husband.

I will tell you about the scenic route that we take to get to Cherokee, North Carolina. We go through Ellijay then Blue Ridge. We go through the Gorge where we usually stop and watch the people in canoes and rafts go down the river. Sometimes while you are stopped watching this, you can see people's rafts or canoes turn over. Once out of the Gorge, we go through Bryson City to where we are staying.

This year we stayed at a place called Two Rivers Lodge. The place got its name because it has two rivers that join each other behind it. This place is not fancy, but it is quiet and has a small kitchenette in it. Out back they have built a small fire pit and have put chairs and picnic tables there so that you can enjoy the sounds of the river flowing . You can fish there, and you are allowed to bring small pets with you. We were about five miles from the rally site.

This year the Cherokee Survivors Motorcycle Rally & Concert was held on April 23, 24, 25, 2010. The first day we paid our entrance fee and bought our T-shirts. Friday night we watched two concerts. The first was with Big Engine, and the other was with Molly Hatchet. My husband went up to the front of the stage and took pictures of the band and singers during the concert.

The next day, we rode over to the fairgrounds and watched the events. We watched the Slow Race; this is where a rider rides their motorcycle rally slow without putting his or her feet down. Whoever runs the slowest wins. We also watched the Barrel Roll; this is where a rider rides his or her motorcycle while pushing a barrel with the front tire. Whoever gets the barrel across the finish line first wins. We watched a game called Balloon Toss; this is where two riders (usually a male and female) carry balloons filled with water. The female tosses the balloons in the air over a pole and tries to catch them on the other side without the balloons popping. They start with one balloon, if they catch this one, they then go to two balloons, then three balloons and so on. Whoever tosses the most balloons and catches them without them popping wins. We also watched an event called Weenie Bite; this is where two riders (usually a male and female) ride under a hot dog weenie hanging from a string covered in mustard. The female stands up on the back of the motorcycle pegs or with her knee on the seat and tries to get as much of the hot dog weenie into her mouth as possible. Whoever gets the biggest piece of the hot dog weenie wins. We watched an event called Potato in Hay Stack; this is where two riders (usually a male and female) ride around in circles while the official hides one potato less than the number of contestants in a hay stack. When the official says go, the females jump off the back of the motorcycles into the hay stack, whoever comes out with a potato goes on to the next round. The person that doesn't find a potato is out. The officials take away a potato each time a person is eliminated. The last one that finds the last potato wins. We watched an event called Egg Carry; this is where two riders (usually a male and female) the female holds a spoon in her mouth with an egg on the spoon. The guy drives the motorcycle to the other end of the track, and then the girl gets off the back of the bike and walks back as fast as she can without dropping the egg. Whoever gets back first without breaking the egg wins. There was also a Miss Cherokee Contest; this is where women go up on the stage and they dance while having someone pour water all over them. Some of the women take their tops off; others even come on stage with bathing suits on. Whoever gets the loudest applause wins. During this event it started raining, and before it was over we left and went back to our motel. There was a concert scheduled for later that night, but we did not go back. So we missed the concert with Big Engine and Jackyl.

I have told you about our time in Cherokee. I have told you about the Two Rivers Lodge, where we stayed. I have also told you about the events and concerts that we saw while we were there. We don't go on vacation a lot, this really wasn't considered a vacation but it is the only time we usually go away. We have plans to go back again in September.

My Travel Tips for Seeing the World’s Best Places

A photograph of a road stretching toward mountains in the distance.

’Tis the season for vacations, so let me make my pitch that the best travel is not lounging at a beach resort but rather journeying into a different world. We all need relaxation at times, but nothing beats the thrill of a trip of discovery and the education that comes with it.

Mark Twain once observed that “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.” In that spirit, I’ve long urged young Americans to take gap years before college or junior years abroad . (One high school reader of such an essay, Spencer Cohen , ended up taking a gap year partly in Japan, became an Asia hand and is now a colleague at The Times.)

Still, there are risks, less of violence (the U.S. has more guns than other countries) than of having your passport and credit cards stolen. So I preach both travel and prudence, and on a recent book tour , I found myself often asked about travel advice I had mentioned in my memoir. So let me share a few tips for the vacation season:

1. The most memorable travel often involves encountering something unfamiliar, so consider escaping the herds parading through Paris. Indonesia, Ghana, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Morocco and Bolivia are generally safe, far cheaper than Europe and offer indelible experiences. I’ll never forget venturing deep into the Potosí silver mines in Bolivia, exploring a grim slave castle in Ghana that dispatched prisoners to slavery in America, learning how to use a blowgun while staying with families in their longhouse in Indonesia’s Borneo rainforest. The world awaits us!

2. Some of the places that you find most culturally distant may be right here in the United States. A teenager from an affluent family in the New York or Boston areas would step into a different world by taking a ranch job in Wyoming. And this is the kind of travel that is not only affordable but actually pays for the experience.

3. Be spontaneous. As a law student in 1982, I spent five weeks backpacking through the Middle East and met a couple of Palestinian students on a West Bank bus; I jumped off at their stop and spent a memorable day with them in their refugee camp hearing about their frustrations and dreams (I wrote about reuniting with them last fall). And while on a bus in the Sahara, I accepted an Algerian man’s invitation to visit his village — which turned out to be a warren of underground burrows to protect families from the extreme heat, the most unusual residential architecture I’ve ever seen. In each case, I was with a couple of friends, which made it seem safer to put myself in the company of people I’d just met, and obviously one should be as judicious as one is spontaneous.

4. One occasionally hears that adventurous travel is just for men, but some of the most accomplished foreign correspondents and overseas photographers are women, as are a majority of Peace Corps volunteers. As a man, I don’t face the same risks that women face, but I have seen female travelers — disproportionately from Australia and New Zealand — thriving as they backpack through the most remote places. Some have suggested the purchase of a cheap wedding ring; a $20 band and a fabricated husband can help keep pests away.
