Introduction (essay on if i had a time machine).

Time is potent, we all heard since our childhood. Time, like a grain of sand, slips out of our hands and we only keep gazing it hunting for the tactics to combat the glissading precious moments of ours. The moments and opportunities we hold most dear, with time, just like the sand in the hourglass, skid away. We only are, then, left with the regrets of not grasping the opportunities, despondently craving for the one single chance to swish back in time and fix the deeds for our deepest regrets.

Time machine and me (Speech on If I Had a Time Machine)

Well, time machine, for some, is a key to skip back in time and undo their wrongs. It is, for few, a passport to fly back in the dearest moments of life and relive them again. For wee folks, it’s a ticket to the future. And me? What would I be doing if I ever get my hands on the time machine?

Well, it’s a dilemma. I, for once, think of going back to the past when our ancestors lived in a world of fresh and pure air to inhale without fearing for their lungs to struggle with smoke and tar. How lucky, I ponder, were they to have the fresh and glistening water from the river so clear to reflect their face. No wonder our ancestors were much robust and healthy than our generation today.

With no access to motor vehicles, speed trains, a giant bird resembling planes but much faster and escalators, our forefathers were bound to lift their feet to move. Unlike today, they had plenty trees to purify the air they breathed in, no chemical factories to corrupt nature with fumes and rivers with chemicals. They experienced the balanced atmosphere and moderate rainfall to witness the waving crops in the fields. The green paddies filled the heart with joy and rejoice the mind.

But to unearth what’s ahead in life and change it if it’s unsatisfactory is in the human gene. And this ethos of the DNA squeezes me to peek into the hidden future. To discover what’s ahead, to find what the world would be like, to uncover if humans are more devilish or more matured. I would definitely love to see what I am up to and how successful I am in the future.

Meddling with the time!!!

Time is a mystery and meddling with it could result in severe consequences. No less than a boon it will be, to see what the world will advance to. But daring to play with it could result in the conclusion of the human race, in fact, the entire planet. It is fully justified to say that meddling with time can decimate the entire history of the ecosystem.

Life and time are the best teachers a human will ever meet. And it is prudent to learn what it teaches us. Several attempts have been made to travel back and forth in time to change the history and conquer humanity. But whenever humans took a step out of bounds, time made them realize their limits. It proved who is supreme and who is down.

If I had a time machine, I would do so many things!

Firstly, I would go back in time to those days when I had been mortified and embarrassed and try to alter it for the better. 

Next, I would go back to when things weren’t as costly as today. I would treat myself to hordes of cheap chocolate and ice cream! 

I would also go back to famous historical events to see how things were and try to see if I can stop something like a war. 

However, if possible, I would return to my childhood days and try to be stuck there!

Probably one of the most popular topics in science-fiction of all times has been the idea of time traveling. In literature and cinema this topic has been exploited uncountable times. We know and love such works as H.G. Wells’ “Time Machine”; H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Shadow Out of Time”; R. Bradbury’s “A Sound of Thunder”; S. King’s “The Langoliers”; as well as numerous films and TV shows: “Back to the Future”, “Butterfly Effect”, “Timecop.” These, as well as many others are dedicated mostly to one question: how can an individual affect or even change their entire life in the present by making even slight corrections in their own past? In my opinion, this is one of the most common, natural, and inmost ponderings.

When I was a child, I often dreamed about a special pocket device that would allow me to “save” certain moments of my life, so that in case if I failed to do something I could always “load” my life from the checkpoint, already possessing a certain level of experience—exactly how they do it in video games. I imagined all the things I could do if I had such power: jumping from skyscrapers without a parachute (and “loading” in the last second); traveling across savannas, jungles, and deserts; racing and performing other risky occupations. I especially liked to think about saving people from desperate and dangerous situations, whom others could not help; I guess, every boy dreams to be a superhero, and I made no exception. As I grew older, my life experience gradually became more diverse. In many situations I had no idea how to act properly, what decisions to make, which path to follow; naturally, I made mistakes.

While many of my actions back then turned out for good in the future, some mistakes delivered me and people around me many painful moments. Having a time machine is an amazingly attractive idea. It seems that having one would make life so much easier! Perhaps, it is true. But what I think more often now is that living without this aggregate teaches us responsibility. This is perhaps the most important responsibility: about oneself, about important people, about one’s own life, which is the only one we have. And besides, our mistakes make us what we are today. Today I am a person leading a healthy, active lifestyle; I care about my friends and family; I always think about my share of responsibility in everything that is going on in my life; I try to live each day at the maximum in order to regret nothing; finally, I am an extremely attentive driver. If I could go back in time, I would try to make my future better. This is actually what our parents always try to do when we are children. But you know what? I am glad that no time machine has been invented.

A time machine for me is not a realistic dream because it is only happened in movies and bed time story. But what would people do when they have a time machine that magically appeared for them to use in their life? Most of them would try to go back to their past and stop to do things which is not appropriate and it leads them to make bad decision. Come back to me, if I have a time machine, I would like to go future The main characters in the story, Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, plan to travel into the future. It's too long to explain here. Google it.

Anyway, one main theme of this trilogy is that when you change one thing (even something insignificant) in the past, it can dramatically alter the future. That got me thin

king, what if we could travel into the past and change events, should we? Sure, we'd probably like to stop ourselves from doing some things, maybe even if the things we did seem insignificant to the rest of the world. Still, even in our own lives, if one part of our lives went differently, it could have unforeseen consequences. In your own life, would you try to stop a marriage? Prevent a pregnancy? Stop yourself from ruining a friendship or a relationship?

Would you, as Darth Vader did, try to prevent someone from dying? Be careful, though. You could even, accidentally I would hope, meddle so much that you don't exist anymore in the present. Would you go back to your most embarrassing moment and change it? Would you make different relationship decisions? Woul

you go back and cheat on a test (or stop yourself from doing it)? Would you change a major decision in your life? Would you travel back in time to assassinate Hitler to stop the Holocaust? Would you try to warn the government about 9/11? Would you try to prevent JFK's assassination? Or Abraham Lincoln's?

Would you go back a few hundred years, a few decades, or even back to Ancient Rome and Greece? Would you try to prevent deaths? You might try to do good, and then have it turn out completely bad. There's also the less life-and-death questions. Would you try to influence sports championships? Would you try to prevent your least favorite celebrity from being famous? Would you stop or extend a television series? Would you change the cast of a movie? I don't know if time travel will ever happen. It seems too unlikely to. That said, it brings up a lot of questions. What would you do if you could travel back (or forward) in time?

If a Time Machine Could Take You Anywhere for One Day, When/Where Would You Go?

Thanks to reader Michael M. from Houston for today’s question. Here’s how Michael put it:

I often find myself wondering: if I could live for any single day in the history of mankind (from anyone’s point of view), what day would I choose to live?

Or July 21, 1969 and from the point of view of Neil Armstrong himself as he walked on the moon.

Or maybe I’d be Abraham Lincoln on the day he delivered the Gettysburg Address. We all practiced that speech in school, so how awesome would it be to actually give it!

Or I could be a visitor to the Roman Senate on the Ides of March. Begin the day by exploring ancient Rome and then end it by watching one of the most important assassinations in the history of the world. Popcorn optional.

I think part of the rule has to be that you can’t meaningfully interfere with what happened on that day — otherwise we’d probably all be morally compelled to go back in time and kill Hitler circa 1929.

I’m going to make two adjustments:

1) I’ll add a follow-up question about which date you’d pick in the future. So let’s say this: You have a time machine that allows you to enter a specific date and location, and you’re taken then/there for one day (it teleports you to the location too). You arrive at 6am and 18 hours later, at midnight, you’re safely returned to the present day in your home. It can be used once to bring you to the past and once to the future. Then it disappears.

2) I like the idea of actually being in the eyes of a person in history, but let’s say you can also choose to just be you plopped down there if you want to.

A couple other notes:

• Like Michael said, when you’re in the past, you can observe or interact with anyone you want, but you won’t affect anything about the modern world. In other words, the day you spend there will cease to exist once you return to 2015—once you return, the original day that actually happened will again have happened. Your presence in the alternate time has no consequences.
• Likewise, assume there’s no risk to you—you can abort the mission at anytime if you’re being harmed, and if you somehow die, all it does is abort the mission and you’re returned safely home.
• One of the time machine’s talents is it drops you off automatically dressed in clothing fitting of the time, so you can choose to blend in and quietly observe if you want to. But you can also bring objects from 2015 and choose to reveal yourself as not normal if you want to. That’s your choice.

Buried in a post right now, so perfect time to write a really long response here.

1) The Past

Annoyingly hard. Some possibilities:

• Go back to a time before humans, to like 80 million BC, to experience a world without humanity. And to see dinosaurs. But my suspicion is I’d get there and wouldn’t be able to find any dinosaurs, or if I did, it would be cool for 10 minutes and then they’d be eating some grass and I’d remember that dinosaurs were just animals and animals are incredibly boring.
• Go back to 40,000 BC to a place with ancient human tribes. Again, worried about the boring factor. I’d watch them sit around the campsite and there’d be a couple dead animals there and some kids would be playing and everyone would be unattractive and I’d realize that this was a bad choice.
• Athens around 350 BC, when both Plato and Aristotle were alive. Concern here is that I’d be on some little street and there would be guards who wouldn’t let me go up to the Acropolis and I’d ask them if I could go meet Aristotle and it would be the equivalent of showing up at the Oscars and asking a police officer if I could go in and meet George Clooney. Was Aristotle inaccessible? Unclear. Even if not, maybe no one would know where he was? Not a time you could call someone. At least here, in the worst case scenario, I’d be in Athens during its heyday and it would be deeply interesting to walk around all day and keep saying to myself, “I’m in BC. ” But since this is a hypothetical time machine, I’m sure I could just ask it to put me in an Aristotle classroom and have that just happen and I could watch him teach. Still slight boring potential when I realized I could have done anything and I end up in fucking class.
• Definitely agree with Michael about watching Caesar get stabbed. Super exciting. And being in Ancient Rome for the day would be fascinating. Kind of a bold move, but under Michael’s “you can be a historical figure” rule, it would be pretty cool to be Caesar on that day. Except again, you might have a moment of reflection as the 12th knife is being wedged into your ribs that you could have done anything with the time machine and this was the decision you made.
• Anything related to Jesus. Assuming Jesus existed, which I think he probably did, I can’t imagine a bigger starstruck situation. I’d really want to talk to him and ask him questions about his mission and what he thought his impact on history would be. If he really were crucified, watching that would be quite the experience too, just to know how big a deal this was gonna be. But it might also be stressful to watch actual humans be crucified and give me nightmares for a while after.
• Would be dramatic to go to the spot where the first European ship showed up on the coast of “the New World” on the day it got there. In the morning, before they arrived, I could walk around the area and see what a pre-Imperialism American civilization was like, and then when the boats arrived I could watch how haggard and shitty everyone looked after sailing across the ocean for months. Then I could watch the initial encounter, which must have just been bizarre.
• Would be fun to watch Da Vinci actually paint the Mona Lisa on one of the days he spent all day working on it. But you’d have to be careful because if he saw you he’d freak out that there was someone in his house and he’d stop painting.
• Back to the “being someone” thing, it would be incredibly fun to be Hitler for a day and just act super silly and watch everyone’s reaction. Like I’d be Hitler on the day of one of his impassioned speeches except I’d just get on the mic and sing the “Always have to steal my kisses from you” song or “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast to a stunned crowd.

I was gonna pick the Jesus one but I just changed my mind to the Hitler one.

2) The Future

Here it’s just a matter of how much you want to know and how baffled you want to be.

Going only 30 years into the future would be insanely interesting. The world might be totally different, but I’d also still probably understand things enough to quickly be caught up to speed. The world would still (probably) have the countries I was used to, I’d understand the language, and I could connect the dots enough to really get how our next three decades end up playing out. You’d learn a ton, but it would (probably) still leave a lot of mystery about where humanity is headed and the nature of the universe. We still might have a Fermi Paradox and it still might be a pre-ASI world.

Going 100 years in the future would undoubtedly be beyond belief—the technology we’d have, the things we will have learned, the way our present era will look through the clarity of 100 year hindsight… And while 30 years from now, the culture might resemble that of today, the culture of 100 years from now—the social norms and taboos, the music, the advancements in philosophies on life and happiness—would be vastly beyond our world and amazingly enlightening to learn about. I’m tempted to choose 100 years. 30 years has the possibility of being cool but not that cool, while 100 years would most definitely blow your mind.

It would, of course, be tempting to just go for it and pick 500 years or 1,000 years or something outrageous like 50,000 years in the future. But my worry is A) that humanity won’t be around, which would be so, so, so depressing, B) that I’ll learn of our demise or something else that will kind of ruin the rest of my life back in the present, C) that I simply won’t be able to comprehend the world then, and I’ll spend the whole day baffled and confused and just not get it.

It would be hard to not choose 1,000 years ahead because just imagine how interesting that would be . But I’d probably go with 100 years ahead—the year 2115—because that seems both boggling and potentially fathomable, while also leaving at least a reasonable chance that humans still exist. 1 (I’d also take note of which companies to make sure I invested in over the coming decades.)

I think there’s an argument to just skip going to the future, since the downside of going might be higher than the upside—but nahhhhhh.

We’ve all heard our parents and grandparents lamenting how the times have changed and how things were better “back then”, which sometimes makes us yearn to live “back then” and experience life when “things were better”.

But when you think about it, you’ll find that in the future you will say the same thing to younger generations, you might even find yourself saying similar things right now because as technology advances and the pace of life becomes faster and faster we feel more pressured by everything around us and we feel that “back then” things were much better and we didn’t have so much stress.

The truth is each stage in your life is different from the one before or after, otherwise your will life will be stagnant and you won’t advance or feel any sense of accomplishment.

In celebration of Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day let’s pretend you have a time machine and you can go back or forward in time, but you will be the same age a you are now, with the same finances. Which will you choose, the past or the future?

Time Travel to the Future

When we think of the future we always envision a technologically advanced era with flying cars and A.I everywhere. The more technology advances the more it will affect the economy, the standard of living, and how people handle money which leads to one of two results:

• If you are an adventurous person: in this case learning new ways of investing should be very exciting for you. These new investing methods may even be easier in the future since all the technological advancements are really there to make life easier anyway. In this case you will find your life much more enjoyable and easier than before.
• If you are a very cautious person: you could always view the future in a very different light as you will not know the investment methods of the time and their downsides and how to avoid them. This is in addition to the fact that “safe investing” could be very different in the future than it is now which could cause you to be very anxious about your money and finances.

Downside of the future:

                The downside is that no matter how much money you currently have and take with you, the inflation rate will still have risen in the intervening years and thus your money will have less value.

The value of your money in the past is greater than now, and you will know to buy everything you want

Time Travel to the Past

Traveling to the past provides the chance to take advantage of all the missed opportunities that passed you by and those you know will affect your financial status greatly in the future. Whether you are an adventurous or cautious person you will still be able to guarantee to a certain extent the success of whichever field you will invest in. For example:

• You can buy your dream home for a very cheap price (compared to the future).
• You can invest your money in the field you know will bring the most return (can you imagine buying Apple stock before it became “Apple”!).

Advantages of going back to the past:

• Your money will be worth more than today (lower inflation rate) which means you will be able to live very well and buy whatever you want.
• You know exactly what’s going to happen in the coming years so you can take advantage of many upcoming opportunities.

Downside of going back to the past:

One of the most accepted time travel theories states that any changes you make in the past will affect the future. As a result, any changes you make in the past to improve your financial situation may have untold effects on others in the future or even yourself so be careful.

If I Had a Time Machine, What Time Would You like to Travel to and Why?

If I had a time machine, I would travel to the future in order to see what would become of our digital world. It seems to me, I would be deeply disappointed. I would not be able to find rain forests round the Amazon River, perhaps one entertainment park with one square mile of preserved rain forest. I would find new volumes of the Red Book, in which I would find sparrows that became extinct in polluted urban areas. I would find pale people equipped with ipads of the latest generation. They would pass by me without saying a world because their true life was inside their computers. I would feel silence everywhere, interrupted by the noise of flying cars and other new means of transport. I would find artificial trees in pots and greenhouses where people would spend life on trying to grow not genetically modified fruit and vegetables. People would forget about printed books and hard copies. They would have installed computers in their heads. They would be like machines, for they would construct new technological miracles. I would be an alien in this new world. I would feel lonely. I would see people who are pragmatic and individualistic. These people would be practically dressed, physically in good condition but emotionally neutral. They would hardly ever laugh because they would never make mistakes and would be all perfect, as they would not need standardized tests anymore. They would be able to cheat with all their technological devices, so their knowledge would not be monitored at school.

What is Machine:

So 'time machines' may be explained as device which can take us in the existence of past , present and future. Alternatively  we can say that a time machine is a machine which is capable of transporting a person backward or forward in time. Using a time machine we can see the past time i.e. the early days and also we can see the future times. Before writing about my invention I would like to focus the idea of time machine with the help of the two most popular Japanese Cartoon series ; which are very interesting and most famous amongst the children.

Similarly there is a cartoon series which may you will be familiar too of Doraemon and Kiterestu. I would like to write this essay by giving examples.

About Doraemon Cartoon:

1 st  example: Doraemon is Japanese manga (a Japanese genre of cartoons having a fantasy theme) series created by Fujiko Fujio which was first appeared in December 1969 . The series is about   a robotic cat named Doraemon who travels back in time with the help of time machine from the 22 nd  century to help a pre-teen boy named Nobita Nobi. Nobita experiences nothing but misery and misfortunate for sometimes for his life, family and his future. So always he insists Doraemon to help him by seeing his future or sometimes past to know about him, his parents and his friends with the help of time machine. He is jealous of some of his friends like Dekisugi because he is good in studies and score good marks. For this he uses time machine to know about his future scores of examination. Doraemon has to travel through time and it has to drive its time machine at full speed to make it work. The time machine of Doraemon is in Nobita’s desk drawer. It is a simple platform with a control and a clock to set time in it.

History of Kiterestu Daihyakka

2 nd  example: Kiterestu Daihyakka is a science fiction manga also created by Fujiko Fujio which was first introduced in children’s magazine Kodomo no Hikari from April 1974 through July 1977 and was finally made into cartoon animation. He frequently travels in time with his friends, Miyoko and his robot Korosuke in the time machine which he invented by himself. The time machine is made up of wood like a bench covered from all sides and with a controller to maintain the time. He uses time machine initially for new invention because it is his hobby.

My Fantacy with Time machine:

If I would invent a time machine with any physical appearance then I would also like to travel in time. But except these fantasy I will program the time machine to control my house activities. For example the electric switches automatic operation , closing the water taps, shutting the doors, attending the phone calls and reminding me about my study plan. I will also check my future success by travelling in future.

I will use it to make society happy and try to help my poor friends with the help of time machines.  It is all about imagination which comes in mind of many children. I will be excited or aggressive to know especially of my ancestors to know about that time, their lifestyles, the way of living, culture, tradition etc because history is one of my most interesting hobby. Also like Nobita to know my future I would like to  travel in future time to see the changes, sophistication of machines and the difficulties of human beings regarding water, air, global warming etc in time to come. Time machine is nothing but a device of human imagination which may be turned in reality.

An international team of researchers found that heavy rains had intensified in the region, though they couldn’t say for sure how much climate change was responsible.

Scenes of flood-ravaged neighborhoods in one of the planet’s driest regions stunned the world this month. Heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates and Oman submerged cars, clogged highways and killed at least 21 people. Flights out of Dubai’s airport, a major global hub, were severely disrupted.

The downpours weren’t a total surprise — forecasters had anticipated the storms several days earlier and issued warnings. But they were certainly unusual.

Here’s what to know.

Heavy rain there is rare, but not unheard-of.

On average, the Arabian Peninsula receives a scant few inches of rain a year, although scientists have found that a sizable chunk of that precipitation falls in infrequent but severe bursts, not as periodic showers. These rains often come during El Niño conditions like the ones the world is experiencing now.

U.A.E. officials said the 24-hour rain total on April 16 was the country’s largest since records there began in 1949 . And parts of the nation had already experienced an earlier round of thunderstorms in March.

Oman, with its coastline on the Arabian Sea, is also vulnerable to tropical cyclones. Past storms there have brought torrential rain, powerful winds and mudslides, causing extensive damage.

Global warming is projected to intensify downpours.

Stronger storms are a key consequence of human-caused global warming. As the atmosphere gets hotter, it can hold more moisture, which can eventually make its way down to the earth as rain or snow.

But that doesn’t mean rainfall patterns are changing in precisely the same way across every part of the globe.

In their latest assessment of climate research , scientists convened by the United Nations found there wasn’t enough data to have firm conclusions about rainfall trends in the Arabian Peninsula and how climate change was affecting them. The researchers said, however, that if global warming were to be allowed to continue worsening in the coming decades, extreme downpours in the region would quite likely become more intense and more frequent.

Hot oceans are a big factor.

An international team of scientists has made a first attempt at estimating the extent to which climate change may have contributed to April’s storms. The researchers didn’t manage to pin down the connection precisely, though in their analysis, they did highlight one known driver of heavy rain in the region: above-normal ocean temperatures.

Large parts of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans have been hotter than usual recently, in part because of El Niño and other natural weather cycles, and in part because of human-induced warming .

When looking only at El Niño years, the scientists estimated that storm events as infrequent as this month’s delivered 10 percent to 40 percent more rain to the region than they would in a world that hadn’t been warmed by human activities. They cautioned, however, that these estimates were highly uncertain.

“Rainfall, in general, is getting more extreme,” said Mansour Almazroui, a climate scientist at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and one of the researchers who contributed to the analysis.

The analysis was conducted by scientists affiliated with World Weather Attribution, a research collaboration that studies extreme weather events shortly after they occur. Their findings about this month’s rains haven’t yet been peer reviewed, but are based on standardized methods .

The role of cloud seeding isn’t clear.

The U.A.E. has for decades worked to increase rainfall and boost water supplies by seeding clouds. Essentially, this involves shooting particles into clouds to encourage the moisture to gather into larger, heavier droplets, ones that are more likely to fall as rain or snow.

Cloud seeding and other rain-enhancement methods have been tried around the world, including in Australia, China, India, Israel, South Africa and the United States. Studies have found that these operations can, at best, affect precipitation modestly — enough to turn a downpour into a bigger downpour, but probably not a drizzle into a deluge.

Still, experts said pinning down how much seeding might have contributed to this month’s storms would require detailed study.

“In general, it is quite a challenge to assess the impact of seeding,” said Luca Delle Monache, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif. Dr. Delle Monache has been leading efforts to use artificial intelligence to improve the U.A.E.’s rain-enhancement program.

An official with the U.A.E.’s National Center of Meteorology, Omar Al Yazeedi, told news outlets that the agency didn’t conduct any seeding during the latest storms. His statements didn’t make clear, however, whether that was also true in the hours or days before.

Mr. Al Yazeedi didn’t respond to emailed questions from The New York Times, and Adel Kamal, a spokesman for the center, didn’t have further comment.

Cities in dry places just aren’t designed for floods.

Wherever it happens, flooding isn’t just a matter of how much rain comes down. It’s also about what happens to all that water once it’s on the ground — most critically, in the places people live.

Cities in arid regions often aren’t designed to drain very effectively. In these areas, paved surfaces block rain from seeping into the earth below, forcing it into drainage systems that can easily become overwhelmed.

One recent study of Sharjah , the capital of the third-largest emirate in the U.A.E., found that the city’s rapid growth over the past half-century had made it vulnerable to flooding at far lower levels of rain than before.
