Collection King Mohan Babu after a long time is coming to entertain movie lovers by doing a lead role in an action entertainer Son of India. The film directed by Diamond Ratna Babu is releasing on February 18. Let us see what Mohan Babu offered to movie lovers.

Story Review

NIA team led by Aiara (Pragya Jaiswal) along with (Prithvi) starts investigating the mysterious missing of Union Minister Mahendra Bhupati (Srikanth) at Talakona. With media personnel (Sunil, Ali, Vennela Kishore) exposing the inefficiency of the team in finding out the culprit as it results in the missing of a renowned doctor Pratibha Lasya and Endowments Department Chairman Bhagavan Prasad (Raja Ravindra), Home Minister (Tanikella Bharani), blasts them further.

Their investigation leads to a suspect named Kadiyam Babji (Mohan Babu). Further investigation results in the unraveling of the mystery of Virpupaksha (Mohan Babu) in Sri Kala Hasti. To find out more about it, Viroopaksha's wife Dakshayani (Meena) and the connection between MLA (Posani Krishna Murali) , watch Son of India on the silver screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Diamond Ratna Babu tried to elevate the heroism of Mohan Babu and he concentrated only on doing so. In the process, he completely ignored the story, screenplay, and direction. He tried to do this with a never seen before introduction song. Though the lyrics of the song are good, the graphics used for the song looked substandard and amateurish. Mega Star Chiranjeevi's voice-over generated interest but right from the beginning with a weak story and narration, there lacked the required intensity.

The first half ends in a painful manner with silly scenes, listless narration, and much to the shock of all, increased vulgarity and usage of double meaning dialogues by Mohan Babu. The story hits the flashback mode in the second half and the routine scenes and outdated plot, predictable stuff gives immense torture to the viewers. There is not a single scene that generates interest among movie lovers. Diamond Ratna Babu failed to make use of the star cast available to him and he concentrated only on Mohan Babu.

Mohan Babu performed well and he did justice to the role given to him. However, he should have refused the vulgarity and double-meaning dialogues given to him. Few dialogues regarding caste etc, looked as if, the director has taken inspiration from NTR's blockbuster film Daana Veera Soora Karna. None of the other actors got screen presence. Meena played the role of his wife Dakshayani. She got a couple of scenes. Pragya Jaiswal played an important role but much to the shock of all, her face is not shown for the entire film except for a few minutes. Posani Krishna Murali got a good screen presence but he got nothing to do except ogle at a woman. Srikanth too was reduced to a caricature. Sunil, Ali, Bandla Ganesh, and Vennela Kishore acted as media personnel. None of them failed to make an impact.

Ilayaraja's music failed to make any impact. Ilayaraja is known for melodious tunes. But he failed to live up to his expectations. The background score is ok. The cinematography of Sarvesh Murari is substandard. The editing of Gautham Raju failed to make an impact. Had he worked, there wouldn't be any film. Production values are below average.

Mohan Babu after many years starred in Son of India. The powerful title and Mohan Babu's looks in the trailer increased interest. However Diamond Ratna Babu came with a substandard and silly story and spineless screenplay, shocking direction, and worthless narration turned the film into a disaster. The film lacked the soul and it seems the team took the film just for the heck of it without putting in their heart. Considering all these points, CJ goes with a 1.5 rating for Son of India.

విరూపాక్ష (మోహన్ బాబు) బాబ్జీగా మారి రకరకాల వేషాలు వేస్తూ.. మినిస్టర్ (శ్రీకాంత్)ను డాక్టర్ ను కిడ్నాప్ చేస్తాడు. అసలు విరూపాక్ష వాళ్ళను ఎందుకు కిడ్నాప్ చేశాడు ? ఇంతకీ విరూపాక్ష బాబ్జీగా ఎందుకు మారాడు ? అతని జీవితంలో జరిగిన ఘోరం ఏమిటి ? వాటికి అతను ఎలా బదులు తీర్చుకున్నాడు ? ప్రైవేట్ జైలు అనే కాన్సెప్ట్ తో అతను ఏమి సాధించాడు ? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

విరూపాక్ష అనే వ్యక్తి జీవితంలో జరిగిన పరిణామాలను, అలాగే అక్రమాలు చేసిన వ్యక్తుల పై అతను చేసిన పోరాటాన్ని బాగానే ఎలివేట్ చేశారు. ఇక విరూపాక్ష పాత్రలో మోహన్ బాబు నటన ఆకట్టుకుంది. ముఖ్యంగా ఆ పాత్రలోని ఆవేశాన్ని, అన్యాయం జరిగితే ఎదురుతిరిగే లక్షణాలను మోహన్ బాబు తన హావాబావాలలో బాగా పలికించారు. ఓ ప్ర‌యోగాత్మ‌క‌మైన చిత్రంగా వచ్చిన ఈ సినిమాలో.. ప్రైవేట్ ఆసుప‌త్రులు, ప్రైవేట్ స్కూళ్ళ త‌ర‌హాలో హీరో ప్రైవేట్ జైలుని న‌డ‌ప‌డం అనే కాన్సెప్ట్ బాగుంది.

అలాగే సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో వచ్చే ఏమోషనల్ ప్లాష్ బ్యాక్ కూడా బాగుంది. ఇక ఆఫీసర్ గా నటించిన ప్రగ్యా జైస్వాల్ తన నటనతో పాటు అందంతోనూ ఆకట్టుకుంది. అలాగే విలన్ పాత్రలో నటించిన శ్రీకాంత్ బాగా నటించాడు. అలాగే నరేష్, అలీ, వెన్నెల కిషోర్, పృధ్వీ రాజ్, సునీల్ పర్మార్మెన్స్ లు కూడా బాగున్నాయి. అలాగే మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధి మేర నటించారు.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్:

ఈ మూవీలో విరూపాక్ష జీవితంలోని డ్రామాను చివరి వరకు దర్శకుడు డైమండ్ రత్న బాబు ఎమోషనల్ గా చూపించే ప్రయత్నం చేసినప్పటికీ, సన్నివేశాలను దర్శకుడు రత్నాబాబు తెర పై ఆవిష్కరించిన విధానం మాత్రం ఆకట్టుకోదు. ఇంట్రెస్ట్ కలిగించలేని సన్నివేశాలతో ప్లే బాగా బోర్ గా సాగుతూ మొత్తానికి సినిమా విసిగిస్తుంది. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో చాలా సీన్స్ కథలో మిళితమై సాగవు.

పైగా కథనంలో సరైన ప్లో కూడా లేదు. ముఖ్యంగా కథలోని మెయిన్ కాన్ ఫ్లిక్ట్ ను ఇంకా బలంగా ఎస్టాబ్లిష్ చేయాల్సింది. పైగా మోహన్ బాబు పాత్రను పూర్తి సినిమాటిక్ గా చూపించారు. అలాగే ఆ పాత్ర తాలూకు గ్రాఫ్ ను టేకాఫ్ ను పర్ఫెక్ట్ గా ఎలివేట్ చేయలేకపోయారు. దీనికితోడు కొన్ని సీన్స్ లాజిక్ లేకుండా సాగడం సినిమాకి మైనస్ అయింది.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

సాంకేతిక నిపుణుల గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటే.. దర్శకుడు రాసుకున్న స్క్రిప్ట్ లో మెప్పించే మ్యాటర్ లేదు. సంగీత దర్శకుడు ఇళయరాజా అందించిన సంగీతం బాగానే ఉంది. కొన్ని కీలక సన్నివేశాల్లో బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ ఫర్వాలేదనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక ఎడిటర్ గౌతమ్ రాజు ఎడిటింగ్ బాగుంది. ఆయన టైట్ గా సినిమాను కట్ చేయడంతో సినిమాలో చాలా వరకు బోర్ తగ్గింది. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. ఇక నిర్మాత పాటించిన నిర్మాణ విలువలు పర్వాలేదు.

ప్రజాస్వామ్యంలోని క్రిమినల్స్ తో పోరాడే వ్యక్తిగా వచ్చిన ‘సన్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా’ ఆకట్టుకోలేదు. అయితే, మోహన్ బాబు నటనతో పాటు ఆయన పాత్రలోని డ్రామా కొన్ని చోట్ల ఆకట్టుకుంది. కానీ, కథకథనాలు ఆకట్టుకోక పోవడం, ఆసక్తిగా సాగని ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాలు మరియు సంఘర్షణ లేని ఎమోషన్స్, లాజిక్ లేని సన్నివేశాలు.. ఇలా కొన్ని కారణాల వల్ల ఈ సినిమా ఫలితం దెబ్బ తింది. ఓవరాల్ గా ఈ సినిమా బాగాలేదు.

Son of India Movie Review: Experiment gone wrong

Son of India , inspired by actual events in the Telugu States, makes an interesting argument of having a private jail for the prisoners, who have been falsely implicated in a crime. However, the tone of the film is so high-pitched, the approach is painfully preachy and you may feel like you are being kidnapped and compelled to listen to a boring monologue for one-and-a-half hours.

Much like his trademark films Collector Garu, Adavilo Anna, and Punya Bhoomi Naa Desam , Mohan Babu's Son of India is essentially one man's fight with a corrupt system. The film was originally made for the OTT space, but the team has revised their decision and released it in theatres! Cast: Mohan Babu, Pragya Jaiswal, Mangli Direction: Diamond Ratna Babu

Son of India begins with a long disclaimer through which Mohan Babu emphasizes that there are 24 actors in this 'experimental' film, but only he and a few others will be seen on-screen and the rest of them will make an appearance only during the climax. 

Then a voiceover (by Chiranjeevi) introduces Mohan Babu as a unique character, who is beyond our expectations. It is followed by a song packed with embarrassingly amateurish special effects. Next, we see three powerful people -- a central minister, state endowments minister, and a lady doctor -- being kidnapped and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is entrusted with the job to track the offenders.

The film showcases Mohan Babu as Kadiyam Babji aka Virupaksha, who is faithful in his intolerance for dishonesty, corruption, and injustice. He has a dubious past and believes that taking the law into one’s own hands might be an effective solution to solve a problem. He works as a temporary driver for NIA officer Iravathi (Pragya Jaiswal), who gets into action to nab the culprit behind the abduction of the aforesaid powerhouses.

It’s understandable that we are watching an 'experimental' movie that deals with a serious issue, but the truth is, it is neither intelligent nor entertaining. In fact, it’s a formulaic, tried-and-tested plot that’s inherently manipulative and contrived.

The film can't shake off its short-film-like feel and largely suffers from some embarrassingly hammy acting from supporting players like Prudhvi Raj, Mangli, etc.

On paper, Son of India is just a revenge drama, a story of vengeance between Virupaksha and three public servants, who trouble the people they are meant to serve. The revenge story never rises above its cliches and drowns under its sheer predictability and tediousness.

Director Diamond Ratna Babu takes too long to establish Mohan Babu’s character, going into elaborate scenes to depict what we have understood in the first ten minutes. That’s not all, he also takes too many cinematic liberties to come out of tricky situations and as a result, the film comes off looking way too far-fetched.

I am at a loss for words to explain the hyperbolic scene where three powerful people are kidnapped and the NIA is brought in to handle the situation? The film also switches to an icky, voyeuristic gaze to showcase a lesbian relationship and it's even worse when the camera focuses on women working out in a gym.

Despite its shorter run-time, the film feels long and stretched. With Mohan Babu at the helm, I expected a hard-hitting drama loaded with his signature punches, but the film ended up as a colossal disappointment.

To sum it up, Son of India is an outlandish experiment that has gone horribly wrong in every way possible.

Movie verdict.

Son of India is a time-watchable movie. The story was good but the dialogues and presentation were not well done by the writer and director. Mohan Babu and Pragya Jaiswal’s Performance is only the positive point in this movie. If some additional work on the script had been done then the movie could come out very well.
